We were next door and wandered into Kīlauea Kreations and right away you feel that aloha spirit. Not forced, not for show... just real people being good people. What stood out the most was the hospitality. They actually took a moment to thank us for being there and helping out, and that meant something. You don't expect that walking into a shop, but it stuck with me. Of course we didn't leave empty handed. Our team grabbed a few things and I picked up two hats myself. You'll know that the stuff is handmade when you get something from here. The owner Sharon is really sweet and will help you find something unique. She helped my brother put together some custom necklaces for gifts for his friends and they're definitely cooler and more affordable than the stuff in the tourist shops. I picked up some adorable sushi and nigiri beads for gifts as well. Seems sustainable as many beads are polished sea glass, clay, wood, and any ivory is cow bone. Didn't see any coral or dried sea critters! Yay! Don't get your friend another Hawaii keychain... Please. Just come here for something completely one-of-a-kind and support one of the few remaining independent craft stores around the town that hasn't been swallowed up by Walmart.
