Got the Sunday brunch last week, which was outstanding value ($20 + a 18% service charge). They're advertising the same price for tomorrow - you need to reserve & pay a deposit via e-transfer first. The seating time is 1 hour. Sesame Bread (brought to the table) was good. We also got a welcome tumbler of unsweetened lemon juice (to clear the palate, I guess) & a cup of tea (further cups are $1) They had no kebabs, which you usually get at Iranian places. But this was a chance to try other dishes, some of which were quite interesting (e.g. chocolate cheese). They had various parts of lamb: cheek, leg, brain, tongue & eye & some dishes using sausages. These people really love eggs. I estimate 2/3-3/4 of the hot dishes were egg based & this was the most styles of egg I'd ever seen at once, though some seemed repeated. This is a bit tricky because certain elements of our visit were great and others not so much. We ordered a platter for 4 and an extra vaziri kabob for our table of 6. There was plenty of food for all of us plus leftovers. The presentation is amazing and very grand! However the food was very basic and served room temperature. I came here for my birthday and it was such a fun experience! We did have to wait an hour for food due to the amount of customers (although not all tables were filled). We ordered espresso martinis while we waited and it was one of the best I've had! I told the waiter and he kindly brought me a new dish although I didn't ask for it. I was very excited about the service but to my surprise it was raw again... I was very disappointed. I'm not sure what was happening that night with the Kebob Torsh but all the other Kebobs were delicious and well prepared. We had taken our non-Iranian friends to this location and they were so happy and excited about their experience that night. My family and I arrived at Chef Reza around 6PM on a quiet evening. The restaurant was completely empty except for one other group who had just walked in. Two staff members greeted us, one of whom immediately asked if we had a reservation. When we said no, she asked us to write our name and phone number on a piece of paper -- and before we could, she told us they were fully booked from 8PM onward. That comment alone was puzzling. It was two full hours before 8:00 PM, and every table in sight was vacant. When we asked for clarification, she avoided the question and offered to seat us on the patio -- in November. The message was clear: we weren't welcome. Whether it was due to appearance, bias, or simple indifference, the experience felt dismissive and unprofessional. We left immediately and went to Kitano Sushi nearby, where we were warmly welcomed and treated with genuine hospitality -- a night and day difference. Chef Reza's management should understand that hospitality is more than food; it's respect. In a city as diverse as Richmond Hill, professionalism and inclusivity are not optional -- they are the foundation of lasting success. Until the staff are trained in proper customer service and basic western etiquette, this restaurant will continue to leave the wrong kind of impression. read more

We paid $20 for 1 skewer of Koobideh Kebab while usually yu get 2 skewers with the same price at other restaurants. And the quality was average compared to other Persian restaurants in Toronto or Richmond Hill. Kebab Barg and Kebab Torsh were $35 each; served with rice and small portion of sides. Kebab Torsh was okay, but Kebab Barg was average, too. Birthday Party Celebration on February 11 of group of 8: My birthday celebration at Chef Reza's left much to be desired. We had high hopes for a memorable evening, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations due to significant service mishaps. Upon arrival, the ambiance was inviting, and the initial service seemed promising. The sitting arrangements for all 8 of us were really tight and they had combined two of their tiny tables together and each time we took a bite of our food all of our arms would touch. Moreover, our excitement quickly turned to disappointment when our order arrived incomplete. Despite ordering two platters, we received only one which our waiter had said "we combined the two platters into one", without even asking us if we wanted that. To our dismay, it was missing three rice portions and two skewers of their Joojeh kebab. Our guests were left hungry, disappointed and we didn't have enough to eat even though we paid for two FULL platers. Feeling shortchanged and dissatisfied, we reached out to the restaurant the following day to address the issue. Despite our efforts, we were met with further disappointment as the promised callback from the manager never materialized. It was disheartening to see such lack of accountability and follow-through from a reputable establishment. Very disappointed. Considering the substantial sum we spent, totaling over $500, our experience was far from satisfactory. Birthdays are meant to be joyous occasions filled with good food and company, yet our guests were left hungry and our celebration marred by the restaurant's negligence. Overall, our experience at Chef Reza's for my birthday party was marred by poor service and incomplete orders, leading to an overall disappointing celebration. We expected better from a restaurant of their caliber and sincerely hope they take steps to rectify their shortcomings in the future and give their fans the full portions of the food instead of robbing them and having them pay the full amount only to receive half of the food they paid for. Worst experience ever!!!! Let me start by saying that they have too much ego. Some chicken and kebab with a design does not deserve a super ego. First of all, I have fine dined at many Toronto restaurants in Toronto namely Harbour 60 and to this day I have not seen such super ego in any of them. Secondly, this place is packed and there is no room to breath or space to move if you book a spot for weekend dinner. This is because the owner wants to make the maximum profit out of every little space he got in his restaurant and hence he has 150 spots in a restaurant where the maximum capacity is just 75 spots. Third, the food is 1-1.5 hour late and usually cold by the time it gets to you. Fourth, service is horrible. While you sit there in a jam packed environment with no room to breath and/or move for an hour to an hour and a half for food to arrive, you can listen to some live music. During this time, you would only be served with some water and if you don't order drinks, the waiters will not be coming around. Finally the cold food arrives after 1.5 hours and if you complain about any of the above, they will send you to their obnoxious manager who is going to try to convince you otherwise. All and all, their platters are extremely expensive and will cost you anywhere between 200-300 dollars for some kebabs with a design. I personally think that the owner and his wife at this particular place are selling the design on a kebab but not the actual kebab itself. That is the reason for the high mark ups. They also are heavily involved in social media and get all their friends and family to give them a 5 star rating. This place is a 2.5 star to at its best 3 star restaurant, You be the Judge. Don't forget that if you go for their platter for two people and some drinks, this will cost you about 200 dollars plus taxes. For parties of 6 and more, they automatically add 18 percent gratuity to your bill so be careful with the same. Some sharp practices there. I forgot to mention if you book for holidays and weekends, you need to call ahead and place a deposit usually 60-70 dollars to reserve your spot. Our first experience at the place. Group of 5. Decided to try here based on social media suggestions. Ordered a platter for 4 which had 7 skewers of kebobs, beef and chicken plus rice. Presentation was nice, especially when it takes 2 to deliver the long tray. KOOBIDEH was average, though for some odd reason, only one of the skewers was very salty. The BARG was tender, yet tasteless. Could use more seasoning. CHENGEH was good. Chicken SHAHI could be done more traditional, instead of adding food coloring (2 pieces were actually green). Ordered Appetizer combo, based on server suggestion. It was delivered in Bento box. Did not like the presentation. Maybe that's just me. A tray with small bowls would have been more suitable and authentic. The quality of the appetizer was average at best. Hummus was not good. Baba-Ghanoush (should have been called Muttabal) was OK. Maast-O-Moosir missed some seasoning as well. Server was kind enough to augment the box with a Kashk-E-Bademjan which was not prepared well. The service was courteous and polite. The ambiance was extremely busy. And I am not talking about the patrons. Instead of a warm, inviting setting, it was a confused motif with lots of clashing colors and themes. Table arrangement did not help either. Instead of feeling at peace and warmth, I could not wait to get out of the place. I also was surprised to see that there is a minimum tip percentage of 18%. Since when the restaurants impose mandatory minimum tip percentage? We were also charged for Bread (1$ per basket), which is not a normal practice in most restaurant, especially Iranian restaurants. When you are paying a bill of $200, they should not nickel and dime the customer for $2. I went to this restaurant last Saturday and had the absolute worst time of my life. To begin, we had a reservation for 20 people with a preset menu - meaning the food was ordered a week in advance and the only thing that the waitress needed to do was take our drink orders. So let me paint a picture of how our night went; everyone but 1 person arrived on time. 1. Timing - Our reservation was for 7:30pm and we were seated by 7:45pm. The waitress took our drink order at that point however no drinks arrived until 8:35ish. From there we waited and waited and waited for our food and at 9:15 we asked the waitress where the food was. The waitress told us she forgot to put the order in and something happened in the kitchen (please anyone reading this go through the reviews and see how many times they use that excuse). Finally at almost 15 minutes to 10pm our food came out. 2. Food - absolute crap. You might as well buy some veggies and chicken from the grocery store and stick it in the oven to overcook for a few minutes and eat it and I promise you that will taste better and more flavourful than what is served here. I will admit the presentation of the food is beautiful but for the amount you pay and the quality of what you get - it's horrendous. The food is bland and cold and there are no sauces. The platter is served with these small dishes that hold some sort of substance that lights a fire and holds smoke. The waitresses should be warning patrons that this is not edible. 3. Drinks - trash. I have no other words. I asked the waitress whether they had a Caesar to which she said yes. She served me some sort of strawberry rosé margarita and said that was their version of a Caesar. Needless to say it was NOT a Caesar. The mojitos also did not taste like a mojito. Not sure where they hire their bartenders but everything was extremely watered down. 4. The way this restaurant is set up is not compliant with AODA standards. There is absolutely no room to move once seated. You are sitting literally back to back with the table behind you. At one point I needed to go to the bathroom and had to get 6 different people to get up before I could squeeze out to use the bathroom. When I reached the outside of the women's bathroom there was a lady in a wheelchair trying to get it but was unable to as there was no working automatic door. I held the door open for her and waited until she finished so I can help her get out. Watching her trying to navigate through the restaurant was heartbreaking. It is law that all restaurants are compliant with AODA standards and regulations. Basically the best part of this restaurant was the can of coke I ordered and the rice. We booked the restaurant for my daughter's wedding dinner few months ago. It was an easy process and all were clear and explained to us. We talked to Ms. Laila, she is the sweetest and very helpful and knowledgeable. She helped us chose the right menu for our event. And she kept is in the loop and we communicated multiple times before the big day so that everyone knew the itinerary and all the details! The special decorations for the wedding was beautiful and needless to say that staff were very organized and courteous. Food presentation was on a next level, really! It was like an art installation! and on too of that everything was delicious. The program went ahead without a hitch. Amazing entertainment, live singer, dj, and a violin maestro! We loved it all. And the dinner was delicious with excellent quality and as our guests said the food was: scrumptious! My wife mentioned this new restaurant opened in Richmond Hill. We walked in and were immediately greeted. A very spacious and clean restaurant with what I would call an excellent menu. As is customary for us at a new establishment we tried the lamb shank, Torsh (sp?), avocado chicken, Also the green salad, hummus, Walnut dough and veggie dough. The food was excellent, with each dish cooked to,perfection. The torsh was exceptional, and the nice Shiraz paired perfectly with my selection. I travel extensively, and therefore eat out frequently, this experience was memorable and exceptional in my experience. Try it out you will be pleasantly surprised. read more
