I ordered the lamb ribs with veggies and the blue corn mush was a bonus. I ordered a tortilla, squash and asparagus (which could've been cooked a tad bit longer but it was crunchy just how it should be). My husband got the steak and shrimp. He said it was good. While the service is good and ambiance k changed in decades, the menu variety, menu appearance, food quantity and food quality is on the decline. The menu has lost a lot of the fine dining aspects like a variety of Navajo reservation raised cattle prime cuts for steak and beef dishes. Sandwiches and apps are limited. The prime rib dinner on Fridays used to be my favorite. But the cuts of beef are smaller than ever and the price went up to $15. The old price of $12 was probably subsidized by the casino. The big screen in the Cheii's Grill in becoming antiquated and has dead pixels right before Super Bowl weekend. They have the slowest grumpiest bartender this side of the Pecos. Don't order a fancy cocktail if he's at the bar. Although, there are some well-noted top shelf picks. With all the local tribal, Gallup city and interstate traffic, it would be appropriate to upgrade the facilities and edifice to accommodate a more discerning crowd instead of the fancy tent by the cliffs. read more

Steak was dry and cooked wrong, the potato was luke warm, got four pieces of brocolli as a side, the bun was meh, they served the meal with packets of sour cream and butter and it was all around a bad experience. First day of 2023 and already rude hosts working. My family & I just wanted to eat. Waited in line for a few minutes. The hostess immediately asked if I was an "eagle" member, I replied no, then tells me to back away from the line, and lets other people (who were waiting in line behind me) cut in front of us and they were seated. Another hostess with short hair yells at us, telling us to back away more and to remain 6 feet apart. (We were already 6 feet apart). The. While visiting the area, my close friend and I stopped off at the Fire Rock Casino in Gallup to have a meal after we watched a movie. We arrived to the casino at around 9:30 PM on 02/01/20. The casino was packed. We wanted to grab a meal at Cheii Grill & Pub. Upon arrival, they seated us immediately, which was surprising considering how packed it was. They had a local live band from Crownpoint, New Mexico playing and performing country music. It was quite the happening scene as other patrons would get out on the dance floor. I do have to say the music was pretty loud that we had to shout at one another to have a conversation. We didn't mind though. Our waitress was very friendly, and professional. Upon being seated, we didn't wait long for our drink order to be taken. And upon placing our food order, it arrived within 10 minutes, so not bad. The food was fresh, tasty and fulfilling. The cost was very decent and in my opinion for economic perhaps it was very cheap in cost considering what I am usually used to paying for food while dining out. I ordered the Navajo Taco. The fry bread was fluffy, huge and very delicious. The beans were well cooked, and seasoned perfectly. The cheese and lettuce were very fresh. All in all, it was a good experience. Granted it was super packed, we received timely, efficient, friendly service from the wait staff at this establishment. Next time I am in the area, and I want to go to the casino, I will definitely stop off here for a good meal. read more

When I come to Gallup I try to stop here for lunch or dinner. The server was friendly, attentive, and nice. The food was good, I had prime rib and the price was reasonable. I think next time I'll get prime rib but order it medium as "medium well" was too well done for me. read more

I already been hearing negative reviews and perspective of the place the restaurant and the casino, But i never listened, Ok today 2/28/2017 i was craving for Steak and while Browsing i saw an ad about The Steak and Shrimp Special, So i was craving and excited! Went here not thinking that it was end of the month (so fuck my life) the parking is terrible as hell, It was already a bad sign not to come but, Luckily a car just pulled out, i parked and got excited, went to the restaurant, The Ladies in the front are so Rude as hell! Promise not even smiling like it was end of the World! She told me to come in and find a spot, Really? So still calm and professional went to bar area, The bartender is Rude as Hell! Telling me can you get out you look young and i showed my ID and tell her i just wanna have Steak and Shrimp.. she pointed me her lips to the table area (). What a good job. Then sit on the table waited 20-25 minutes until a waiter get my order, at least the server was alright! Food came after it was so Dry and Not worth it! This place needed to have a total Revamp in Customer Service and Food Quality sorry but if i can give you a Zero star i would! If only I could post a review with NO stars! The food was completely unacceptable and nowhere worth its value printed on the menu! The manager failed to acknowledge the error and only made a slight compensate after it was suggestion. No initial offer! As a first time customer, it was by far the worst experience I've encountered and will neither return nor recommend Cheii's Restaurant to any of my family and friends. We had a most delicious and memorable meal at Cheii's Restaurant at Fire Rock Casino. I had lamb stew, and my husband had lamb ribs with blue corn mush, a green chile, fry bread, and veggie sides. Everything was fantastic! They have a varied menu with standard American sports bar fare, but also more traditional area offerings, and some intriguing fusion dishes like green chile chicken alfredo or grilled salmon with jalapeño honey butter served with butternut squash... we'll for sure be back to sample some of the other menu items! i order a club sandwich. i got what i thought was a club sandwich. nope. it was bread, lettuce, mayo and bacon. lots of old, dry, hard, mouth cutting bacon. surely you can't mess up a club sandwich. apparently you can. i love my navajo people and we have such amazing food from our own land and culture. we should stick to what we know. also i got bad gas from the food and so did the other members of my party. if you go, bring gas-x. read more

Located inside the Firerock Navajo Casino, I thought I'd get a taste of navajo style food done in a restaurant atmosphere. The lunch menu just consist of every day standards. There is no native indian influence in this menu. So to my displeasure i ordered the cobb salad. And it was a good portion but was just a salad. Service was good but wish the lunch menu had some kind of native stew or frybread. Next time just gonna go to Window Rock and get food from road side stand. read more

One of my favorite places to eat in the Gallup area. The food is always delicious and the waitresses are very nice. The menu has local Navajo entrees. Almost every night there's a special. Sometimes there a line for seating, but I don't mind. Others may have come on an off night. I come at least a few times a month and have not had a bad experience since I've been in the area for 5 years. Also surprisingly they have the best margaritas in Gallup. read more

We only ended up here because every thing else seemed to be closed.....never saw so many closed restaurants before anywhere on any day of the week......i had the Navajo style taco....filled the plate and was very good....hubby had the lamb ribs and they were delish..... I have been here multiple times and I've given them multiple chances to do something right for once, the food would be ok if they didn't over cook the food and reheat it.
