This place has apparently changed owners and designation recently. It is now Daniel's Steakhouse. It was one of the few places open offering a cold beer and/or appetizers on a weekday afternoon. The beers on tap were local and served frosty cold. The waitstaff was very friendly, but obviously would have appreciated more business. It looked like half dive bar, (our favorite,) and half family restaurant. Although we didn't eat, the menu offerings looked good; a combo of Mexican food, bar food and some fine dining options. We have been coming to the area for the past two months just about every week due to some family issues. Like most from the Navajo Nation we travel to Window Rock and Gallup to shop and enjoy places to eat. We also have been considering moving to the area. Since then I have been researching if there is a vibe to the City of Gallup. Music, great places to eat etc. Being a musician and a food nerd I am always on the hunt for great places with great vibes. We have been hitting the same old places for weeks now and I was done with the status quo on restaurant's. So yesterday I was like "I am not eating at the same place again "!!! So off I went on Yelp looking for a downtown place. However I didn't end up at the place I intended to go. Because I saw The Coal Street Pub. Once I saw the outside and that it was brewpub. I wasn't going to pass it up. It looked great on the outside but it also flows to the inside as well. Of course being a musician I noticed a small stage to my right with band equipment. I immediately knew this was my kind of place! It was early in the day so it wasn't close to being crowded. There was only a few people inside. We were greeted by a delightful young lady who guided us to our seats and gave us menus. It was pretty dark where we were seated. So it was difficult to see the menus. So I used my phone flashlight . I was pretty impressed by how many items there was to choose from. As well as the brew menu. We chose the club sandwiches and I opted for the Marble Cerveza. I also had the pub chips and my wife ordered sweet potato waffle fries. While we waited we enjoyed the decor of the establishment. I'm sure this place rocks during open mic nights. Which is on Wednesday nights. I'm sure it's also fun during football season. I'd love to be able to hangout here a lot more someday. Being pretty much the only customers there our food came pretty fast. The food looked great. However I wish I had read the menu more thoroughly. Bcz the sandwiches were hot Turkey club sandwiches. So it was a bit of a surprise. But they were really good. As were the pub chips and sweet potato waffle fries. I really enjoyed this visit and hope to come back and enjoy the atmosphere here because it's really nice. Driving on a long trip and were hungry for dinner. Found this pub on Yelp from about 90 minutes away. Decided to wait to eat there. Says it's open until 11pm and got there at 930p. Nice lunch at Coal Street Pub in Gallup. Have been here many time for sandwich or burger. This time had their enchilladas. Served with rice, beans, roasted jalapeno and three beef enchilladas. Was expecting ground beef but was surprised when they served a roast beef. Sause wss excellent and only. $7. Oiffspring had chicken alfredo pasta and always a happy camper. Service wss good. , sometimes a challenge when trying to train new server and short staffed; however more help arrived to take care of lunch crowd. read more

This was a bit of a strange place. We entered from the back which took us through a long hallway where the restrooms were to the front of the house. There was a dining seating area and the bar. We sat at the bar to order a drink. There was a second row of seats behind us that I first thought were people waiting for their food to go. However, these seats were for people who were ordering drinks as well and watching the bar TVs. The bartenders would also go out and sit down in those seats and talk behind us. It made me feel uncomfortable to have those people sitting right behind me while I was at the bar. We spilled a drink by accident, and the bartender didn't seem to care or offer a towel to clean the spill. We grabbed some napkins and wiped it up ourselves. We were driving from Santa Fe back to Phoenix and decided to stay a night to break up the long drive. We got in to town around 8:00 and lots of places were closed due to being Sunday and pass 6:30. We called Coal Street Pub for take out and Boo got the chicken enchiladas which he liked. I got the Cuban sandwich but it wasn't that great. It must be due to being take out. We had a hard time getting there as well as out of downtown due to road closures and sketchy neighborhood. They were out of fries but were supposed to sub tater tots but didn't. The menu was solid but no one really said their meal was above average. I had a burger and it could have been straight from Walmart. Tons of TVs but not strategically placed. Good local beer menu and they have all usual domestics. Sometimes they have a local band. I like the seating for the restaurant but it can get crowded around the bar which can be overwhelming. Food is hit or miss, I do love their burgers and wings but not their seafood and Mexican food. I would hit Jerry's or Generos if it's open. My favorite burgers are mushroom Swiss and the Black and bleu. French fries are so good they are crisp and thin. Perfect for burgers. Coal Street pub. It's a cool little place on Main Street in old town Gallup New Mexico. When you walk in it's kind of like oh, why did I pick this place! It's not the cleanest place but it has been there a long time. Both my Wife and myself stopped in there an hour travel across the Midwest. I will say the service was excellent and people were extremely nice. And we had a fajita dish that both my wife and I shared it was pretty good. We enjoyed it. We enjoyed our time there. I never have been disappointed with this establishment. The endless pub fries are a must because they are freshly made. I always have the Daytona wings. The burgers are tasty and well stocked. The chimichangas are very yummy. They always have a great selection of local NM beers on tap. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I had heard many good things about this place so I figured I'd try it out myself. The restaurant is located in downtown Gallup so it will be a little difficult to find parking. although I'm not from Gallup I was able to find a parking close to the restaurant which turned out great. The place is very spacious and the staff is very friendly, they even help me figure out what I wanted to eat. Started off with a salad just to get my appetite going. The salad, which was a great size for just one person almost could share with two people. It was very tasty although I don't have a picture of it it is because I was too hungry not to share a picture. I decided on I would try their Mushroom Swiss burger which was cooked to the way I wanted it it was very tasty and the bun was toasted which was the best part of the meal I also enjoyed the shoestring french fries. overall I thoroughly enjoyed eating here at this place I will definitely make a stop the next time I'm driving through Gallup. read more

Best spot for beer in all of Gallup. Checked in for a beer on a Sunday afternon and to my delight all beers $ 3 today. The place has there fair share of locals. Music playing in the background over a backdrop of conversations at the nearby tables. They've got 10 beers on tap including some crafts like New Belgium Fat Tire and White IPA. Unfortunately the food options in Gallup on a Sunday night are virtually nonexistent, but I really can't recommend this place. Husband got a just-adequate taco with cold rice, and a mediocre pilsner. It is nice that they have a rotating craft brew tap, could have just been a unlucky choice. I got a mediocre (but giant) burger with some of the worst fries I've ever tasted. The NM chili sauces here are acrid and just straight up awful. Heat without flavor. The staff was very friendly, so I have to give an extra star for that. They were trying hard, but clearly young and inexperienced. They came by to check on us seriously about ten times, which is really a lot more customer service than I'd like, personally. Eating here was a pleasant surprise. We were stopping here on our way to Santa Fe and thought we would check out the town. The restaurant itself was pretty nice - local restaurant/pub that is family Owned. I love the pictures on the wall that showed the history of what I assume are the owners. We ordered the enchilada platter which comes with 3 enchiladas, beans, rice and a small salad. It was delicious! The sauce was spicy and flavorful and the rice was delicious.
