It's a place worth trying once, probably not again though. Posole and green Chile sauce with the Navajo Taco were on point. However, the stuffed sopaipilla and refried beans were just kinda flat to me. The beef inside the sopaipilla was in desperate need of seasoning, same with the beans. Portions are HUGE. This place was very friendly staff however the food was tasteless. We had chicken tacos and a chicken chimichanga. The meat was plain and the rice was blah along with the refried beans. Hello from Yazzie Family Vlogs! We just started a new series on Mexican food here in Gallup NM. Cocina De Dominguez happens to be our first restaurant. Place was well lit a lot of lighting there. Our service was pretty bad. Was asked twice what we wanted to drink and we mentioned water twice. Nachos for a appetizer was good and fast. From there service went down. Food was ok, and the rice was the worst tomato taste. Felt like school food rice. Chili was great. Ground beef was over seasoned. We never got refills on our water and only been checked on once. Never got a ticket for our table and we had to stand and wait at the register for our ticket. Owner was really friendly with the next table joking and laughing with them. They got their food in a instant and seemed to have a waiter most the time taking care of them. We would probably not return here again. A couple of our favorite Gallup eateries have unfortunately gone downhill recently, so we've been looking out for alternatives for casual dining. On the recommendation of a friend, we decided to check out Cocina de Dominguez. It sits in a nondescript strip mall on the south end of town and is somewhat off the beaten path, occupying the space of the former Pal Joey's restaurant. The menu caters to a variety of tastes with traditional American fare (salads and sandwiches) offered alongside local New Mexican and Italian choices. There are nightly specials available (tacos on Monday, tostadas on Tuesday) and there is also a bar serving beer and wine on premises. The taco salad I had was generously portioned and served with fresh guacamole. I also enjoyed a rib eye and enchilada special. The 8 oz rib eye was a thin cut but flavorfully seasoned and nicely cooked, tender and just a little rare on the inside. The cheese enchiladas were tasty and accompanied with a delicious rendition of green chile that had a decent kick to it. Chile rellenos, a cheese stuffed Poblano pepper battered and deep-fried, is homemade and excellent. Many local restaurants don't make their own rellenos and buy them from a food service vendor or elsewhere so it's nice to get rellenos made by the chef. My dining companion had a very large stuffed sopapilla and he said it is the best in Gallup. Service is friendly and attentive. We recognized our waitress as having worked at the well-known El Rancho Hotel's dining room for many years but now she is here taking good care of the patrons. The food has been excellent on all of our visits and I'm looking forward to checking out the Friday prime rib special. If you're looking for a good solid meal, I think Cocina de Dominguez is worth a try. read more

Stopping for the night in Gallup N.M. and wanted Mexican food. Found Dominguez on Maps(food near me). My friend had her first fish taco's and is now hooked on them. I had the pollo asada. BEST EVER!
