I live pretty near Billingsgate. Have done for about 8 years. I've been once. I went for an article I was writing and had a great time (met a fisherman who hated fish - go figure), but once was enough for me. I do not do well with 6am starts. And the last thing I feel like pre-coffee is buying seafood. But I like cooking. I like making tasty things. I like having fresh food that didn't cost the earth in the supermarket (although my local fishmonger is also awesome). I basically want all the good stuff, delivered to my door. Marky Market does that. Not just to your door, but to your office too. I live so close to Billingsgate that I'd have had a very early wake-up call (Mark starts his day at 2:30 am - I'm not even asleep by then a lot of the time). So Qype laughed at me when I got half a kilo of samphire delivered to their office. I made tasty salads with crayfish for a party, everyone was impressed. Even shared some in the pub with some other Qypers. They were happy too. I'll use Marky Market for any special occasion. If you don't like early starts and you like tasty food, you should too.

During our visit, we sampled the famous chocolate covered strawberries, paella, and wild mushroom risotto. I also bought the Black Pig Honey Truffle Parm sandwich. The chocolate covered strawberries were exactly what you'd expect, fresh strawberries coated in chocolate. If you enjoy that classic combination, you'll probably love them, but they weren't anything particularly special to me. The paella had great flavor, but the rice was a little undercooked for my taste, so I wasn't a fan of the texture. The wild mushroom risotto was the standout. It was rich, creamy, packed with earthy mushroom flavor, and had an excellent texture. It was easily one of my favorite bites of the day. I also tried the Black Pig Honey Truffle Parm sandwich. The bread was fantastic, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, and the fennel apple slaw added a refreshing crunch. Unfortunately, the pulled pork was very dry. I think it would have been much better if the pork had been kept warm in its own juices instead of continuing to cook on the griddle. That would have kept it moist and tender. As it was... the pulled pork was dry as hell. :) One thing every vendor had in common was friendly and welcoming customer service. Despite how busy and crowded the market gets, the atmosphere is lively, energetic, and full of people enjoying great food. It's definitely a must-visit for anyone who loves trying a variety of foods in one place.

Marylebone Farmers' Market is an adorable Farmers Market that goes down Grotto Passage…read more I loved that we stopped into Ginger Pig while it was going on because it meant there was seating out front to have our sausage rolls, but we also picked up and extremely sour pink lemonade from one of the gelato vendors. It was fairly small, but could have used some extra water to cut the lemon, so we weren't mad it was on the tiny side. The passage itself had enough space to comfortably walk down and we loved checking out the different higher-end vendors and their wares. Overall I'd definitely recommend dropping by if you're in the area.
