Bob & Ed's was on a maintenance contract for two years for our home HVAC equipment. After the…read morerecent furnace inspection, their technician advised that our furnace might not make it through the winter because the heat exchanger was about to fail, so I had the furnace replaced. When the old furnace was removed, it was discovered the evaporator coils on the old furnace were completely stopped up (see photo). They were supposed to be inspected and cleaned so the equipment would operate efficiently, per the maintenance contract. Bob & Ed's acknowledged they messed up and refunded my money for the current year's contract. The technician from the company that installed the new furnace said the clogged coils contributed to the shortened life of the old furnace. Bob & Ed's disputed that. Lesson learned: Just because a Bob & Ed's technician tells you he's done the work, that's not necessarily so.

He had to climb into my hot attic as well as checking the unit from the inside and outside. He found the clogged pipe and also was very patient with all of my questions. He did a fantastic job. By last night the system had started cooling the house down just as he said.
