To be totally fair, we didn't think there was any chance we would get here before last light for the day. We got kind of lucky and had about 20 minutes off daylight to explore. My girlfriend had been here before and wanted to share a Valentine's Day sunset overlooking the valley. Really amazing views and some fun little climbs along the way. Looking forward to coming back when we have a little more daylight so we can explore more. Entrance is currently on the honor system. They have a ramp on the exit side of the ranger station that has envelopes to put your admission fee. Our fee (single vehicle/no overnight stay) was $6. Based on our short visit I would highly recommend returning.

This place is AMAZING!!!! It located in the northeast Alabama. Even this is on the mountain, it has strong cell signal. To come to this place, you will need a pair glove, good pair of shoe. If you want climb the rock face, you will need a good partner to help you on the safety rope. Some rock face has cantilever rock face that is very challenging to reach the top. If you are not climbing, there is plenty of maze rock that you can explore. There are many big rock column came out from the ground and create this maze. I encourage you explore around noon time where there is a lot people climbing and not get lost easily when they can point you direction. Some rock has two narrow wall that you can explore. Some crack is narrow in the beginning and open up to a big chamber. This place has a lot of opportunities for postcard perfect picture location. Good for photographer. Bring a good camera. You can camping at this place and climb the rock in the morning. Watch the sunrise on the top of the mountain. $5 per car for day use is very reasonable and enjoy the God made beauty.

This is my second time to go, and I had been itching to get back ever since my first visit last summer. I'm not a rock climber so I can't give details on that aspect, but we do climb up the main rock to the top where the view is phenomenal. You can walk around with little difficulty but the climb to the top is moderate. I'd say, if you can climb up into the bed of a pickup truck with the tailgate up then you can do this. (That's the southerner in me) Just be real careful (that's the mom part)! Pay for the day and you are free to roam around. If there is no one at the ranger house or whatever, go around to the other side (the exit side) and you can put $6 in an envelope in the box. Then follow the entrance road up the hill and park by the playground - you will see the green posts around the lot. This is the website for the park: https://www.ccparkboard.com/trails/ The view from the top at sunset was fabulous. Just get back down before it's too dark!

Only one of the countless breath taking views to be seen.

It was NOT easy being on the 4th floor in such cramped quarters! The third day we took a drive and found Jackson County Parks & Marina. We took a chance and visited the office. The young lady could not have been kinder. We were able to rent a two bedroom cabin with a gorgeous lake view. The cabin was spotless and had everything we needed. There are walking paths, boats to rent, a little BBQ restaurant, room for campers and I think tents as well. We highly recommend this place and may even come back to actually vacation and not be running from a hurricane!!! Thank you, Jackson County Parks!!!!

We decided to try Jackson County Park. The experience of calling the park was nicer than what I expected. The gal told me about a few available sites and then called me back to let me know there was another available spot that I would probably like better. The site is absolutely beautiful and almost perfectly level. The view of the lake is gorgeous! The sites are spaced so nicely it actually feels like you have space without intruding on another campsite. (For the record, we're pulling a 29' travel trailer). There's enough space to pull your slides and hook up and still have space to park your pulling car. The grounds are beautiful and there's plenty of space to enjoy yourself and maneuver. I am just immensely happy with our stay. I would absolutely wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone looking.

We drove up from Birmingham that…read moreevening and spent so many hours there walking around together and riding that tiny train once too. I was surprised the whole time bc it was not something I would think to care about except for taking my kids to when they little many years ago. However it was actually so enjoyable and neat to be at. It is filled with so many people clearly for a reason. I'd recommend anyone go to it even if they think it's not their type of thing. It is very cool for sure. Also, the last thing we did was hop on that little train( which I didn't care to do at all without little kids with me) yet it was a shocker how that man driving the train who shares about all things throughout the event that you get to see again from a different view on that train...he was super awesome. I actually would have ridden that train and listened to that man over and over and over again. He was fun to hear from. It is not super expensive so do not resist to do it. Gather up your group or just you and your spouse or for take your kids if they are still young. This is for sure a fun enjoyable thing to go see.
