I was gone for 30 years living in different states for work, oooing and ahhing about the beauty in those places without realizing I came from a beautiful state, with all of it's craziness. While on this tour, I went to Little River Canyon and was able to watch a documentary and read about the history of the canyon and the river...AMAZING!!! I was blown away by the beauty of the canyon first and foremost! Then the river running through this massage canyon was peaceful and relaxing. Great, great amazing place. I encourage everyone to go and learn about the geography of your state. Watch out for the bears though!

We visited early and the trees were just changing colors, but there was still lots of green to go around. Park rangers on site and helpful. The best time to view Little River Falls is in the winter with snow runoff and increasing waterfall flow, but this visit was just as beautiful. ADA accessible from near parking lot but you can also take a short loop trail that brings you around and above the canyon along the highway (protected of course), before a scenic view at the rim from where we were.

When we asked to kayak, they apologized because when it rains they do not rent them out. This is now due to a few younger people having to have rescue called out. In my opinion, this is such a great policy! After addressing our fishing needs, we paid them and was shocked to find out how cheap everything was. We left from there and looked at the campsites. We decided IF we go camping this year, this will be the first place we visit! Overall, Yellow Creek Falls Fish Camp is my favorite small town bait shop. Can't wait until we get to go again!

Located behind the mall in Gadsden, the James D. Martin Wildlife Park provides a nice easy walking…read morepath for anyone wanting to get out and breeze some fresh air. Bridge at the front entrance has an ever so slight incline, but aside from that it really would register as low impact as you could imagine. With the water surrounding the path there are some great opportunities to catch some pretty spectacular sunsets (I would guess sunrises, but that's a little too early for my liking). You can find people fishing, jogging, waling their dogs, teens hanging out. Attracts a wide variety of people. Also, not a bad place to walk out and grab a park bench and enjoy an ice cream with that someone special. As for the wildlife side of things, we haven't really encountered anything other than a butterfly or two and some birds. At dusk watch out for the mosquitoes, they can be a little annoying. Otherwise a good spot to take a walk.

What a great place for outdoor activities!…read more Kind of on the edge or Rainbow City, this place has got space for all sorts of sports stuff!! When you first pull in, to the right, there are several soccer fields, to the left a huge parking area. As you go a little further, there are some really nice little league fields - great place to watch a game! As you drive past these fields and get to the back, they have a walking/biking path that circles around a pond and a golf frisbee course (not an easy one either!). The path, if you loop around and take all of the routes comes out about 4 miles (if you add some on the far back side). Really nice what they have done out there. You can kind of be in the thick of things, or you can totally do your own thing with minimal interactions with others that are out there. Really cool space, you can even stop here and do some star gazing on a nice clear night ... if you're so inclined.

Rainbow City has really put a lot into making a nice place for residents to get some exercise…read more Whether walking, running, biking, kids on scooters, you and your friends and family will find a paved, shady trail in a nice woodland setting. Much of the underbrush is cleared out and there is a pond with some pavilions around it. However, especially around back and edges there is more bushes and brush, and you will probably see squirrels, bunnies and unfortunately maybe a snake. A nice disc golf course winds around and throughout as well. In daylight hours I always feel safe here. You will meet plenty of others on the path, but not so many it feels congested. You can choose the main loop or outer loop, and it veers off onto the back side which has a sidewalk for more distance and variety. Total distance: If you go right from the gate, pass the pond, go to the back and turn off to the right and go through the extended back (along a dirt road), over the bridge and right up the sidewalk, cross the road to the continuing sidewalk, go all the way up and around the elementary school, come back and go around the back of the middle school, back to the sidewalk, back to the path by the dirt road. This time go right and go behind the ball practice things, that takes you back up to the front. Now turn left and go on the back side of the main loop and follow back to the gate ... whew! that's 4 miles.

Junior and Ashley were amazing tour guides navigating us through the heart of the cave. The cave had areas for all skills levels. We belly crawled thru tunnels, slid down muddy embankments, climbed ladders and experienced total darkness. Can't wait to come back!

All the forms you need to sign (note: do them on-line before you go to save time when you get there) as well as your harness and climbing shoes. If it's your first tine or you're a seasoned veteran they have something for all experience levels. They also have a safety basics they review with you if you're new. They have a party room in back, so it also makes for a great Birthday Party or work team building. Looking forward to warmer weather so we can rent the stand up paddle boards and try that out. My first experience with climbing was here at Gadrock. Ive been back several times and I have a…read moreblast each time. There are all skill levels from what I call the "bunny slopes" easy to the extremely hard, like you better have muscles in your fingertips kind of climbing. But don't fear - there is no judgement, even the best will fall from time to time, and the staff is always happy to help and will get you hooked up and started. This is all ages fun too. Take the kids for sure! The auto balay (I think it's called) is all I have tried. You're harness is hooked to the rope which will catch you as soon as your body weight starts to pull on it. Once you realize how secure you are, you will be comfortable and feel safe even jumping off when you reach the very top! It's a little scary the first time but trust me that goes away quick! Don't be misled by the word "micro" gym. Since they opened they keep adding and changing the routes so you're not going to be bored. I have always been afraid to try paddle boarding but with a great day rate of $35 (all day climbing, 2 hrs paddle boarding on Lake Gadsden) I'm feeling more confident to try that next when it warms up! Also they have all kinds of classes and activities (sunset on the river, hello!) too. It was a nice place to take a few moments to chill and get my thoughts together before a day of meetings in the area. This lake front park has a nice, paved walkway along the lake front, with plenty of trees for shade. There is a pier for fishing, ball fields, pavilions, and benches to sit on to enjoy the view. Lots of kids were swimming on out last visit, and we were able to launch a canoe to paddle to the far shore and back. This is a great public park, and we will visit again.

There is a one way to the parking lot and if you miss it you have to take a bunch of detours to get back to it... on top of needing to find the road that leads there.
