My Mr. wanted to play bowling this weekend and he mentioned Cherry Grove Lanes was near his work. I definitely wanted to check it out since it was in this area near our home. Like every bowling joint, this also had nostalgia. The lanes to the building inside down to the carpeting. There was enough bowling balls for everyone. From lightweight to extra large. They had an open bar and snack bar. We played 4 games and also had some brews (Coors Light on draft). The lanes was super smooth and pricing was reasonable. We ended up paying $7.00 a game with rented shoes. The only thing that I didn't like that there was a time limit. We got there at 2:00 pm and we had until 4:00 pm to bowl. 1. Mechanical issues on lanes 20-30. I have two new balls less than six months old. Twice I have been assigned an open lane in the 20s and after three games my balls had HUGE gouges in them. They must have a loose piece of metal somewhere along the ball return path. They absolutely ruined my $200 balls. 2. The old crabby lady that works the front desk during the day has ZERO(0) customer service skills. She is VERY rude and unfortunately makes no effort to make customers feel appreciated or welcome. 3. This bowling alley is in desperate need of some regular housekeeping. The player seating area and the approaches are always dirty. My lady and I hadn't gone bowling in a while and decided to check this spot out after I told her about it. We wanted to try out a different spot from our usual Madison Bowl and this was pretty close to us to. Overall, great place with a classic bowling alley feel. Plus cheap libations. We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon to play a few games. There definitely isn't a shortage of lanes here with 34 total. There's also a plethora of claw machines, a cool bar area, concessions for food, and even volleyball courts outside open seasonally. The only thing I didn't like was that open bowling was 2pm-4pm. Still, we enjoyed playing there, and definitely enjoyed the $2.75 Coors Light on draft. And the bartender was very friendly. We played four games each and it was about $7 per game with shoes. Their website says lunar bowl on Saturday nights is from 11:30-2. Me and my kids got there about 10 minutes after midnight they charged us full price and they closed at 1 am. If I could give zero stars, I would. When my daughter took her sister, who has deformed ankles to bowl, the lady at the front desk informed them that she couldn't bowl without their shoes. When she explained that she couldn't wear those shoes, she looked over the counter and said if she can wear those shoes ( that are special shoes), why can't she wear these? They finally just left. Older gentleman at the desk was super rude when my family asked if we could have two alternating lanes for four of us, as a league would work. Environment of a place is very important to me because it has a decent impact ones state of consciousness. If my friend and I had to stay another half an hour at this place we would have become nauseous. This place felt like a sausage fest and smelled like testosterone. Stuffed with mostly men who were swearing loudly in their drunk voices. There were so many people that it seemed like the only fun point in the whole area. I enjoy bowling and have started to get back into recently and I go here only because it's the closest alley. However it's so not worth the time. The old man at the desk either needs to be nicer or just retire, he's always rude and inconsiderate and then wonders why they're losing money. The house balls are super rough and on multiple occasions have gotten stuck at the end of the lane and not caught into the feeder to bring the ball back. There's so much room for improvement here. Until the customer service gets better, I will not be returning here. I've left too many times frustrated with the attitude of the workers here. read more

I've been going to this bowling alley for most of my life. It's always been there if you want to spend a night with your friends and just have fun bowling, eating, drinking, etc. Not to mention the cheap admission and reasonably priced food. You will definitely have a fun night here, but The biggest issue I've had with the place is the older worker who usually wears a hat. Very rude and disrespectful. Step through the doors of Cherry Grove Lanes and you'll be teleported back to 1981. I love it! This place has looked the same for the last 20 years minus two exceptions 1) No longer smoke filled (that's a good thing) and 2) the automatic scoring. Most lanes have bumper bowling available, which is nice for the kiddos. I like that they have plenty of televisions near the lanes. The last time I was there we were able to watch most of the Reds game in between turns. The bowling lanes were bright, and clean. At one point my daughter spilled a drink, and the staff came over and very quickly and nicely cleaned it up. TIPS: Check the website for coupons before you go. You will often find a discount is available. Try to bowl in non-peak times- Usually it is cheaper and less crowded. Check the website. If you have kids, have them sign up for the Bowling Bee program, and they will receive one free game every time you visit in the summer. read more

Cherry Grove Lanes is a great place to bowl. The bowling portion of the place is pretty clean. The attendants are helpful and there are plenty of balls to choose from. It's always fun to go bowling and with the recent condemnation of Kingpin lanes in the area, Cherry Grove is the only option in Anderson/Eastgate. Behind the lanes is a small place where you can get all kinds of cheap food like nachos and hot dogs. Next to it is a bar portion, with some pool tables for playing and a few arcade machines. The nice distinction here is a couple of sand volleyball courts sitting next to the lanes that hold tournaments sometimes and have leagues in the Summer. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Holy. Heck. I don't know who the horrible woman is that was working the front desk today but we ended up leaving. First time there. We walk up to the counter and she is talking to what I assume is a friend. She just stares at us. No hello. Nothing. I say "ummm hello". And she says "yeah?" No may I help you or ANYTHING! I say "I guess we are renting a lane." She says "29". I didn't understand and thought that was the price. She sees me take my wallet out and she says "no. That's not the cost. That's the lane number. You pay at the end." Never experiencing that type of process at other lanes I was confused so I asked "we pay at the end?" She says aggressively are sarcastically "that's what I said." WOW. Then I ask for shoes and she huffs and I say size 12. She says nothing and grunts and goes and gets them and gives them to me. The lane numbers are slightly confusing so we thought she placed us in a lane right next to another group which we didn't want due to covid safety. So I ask her for a lane further away with at least one in between and she cuts me off and aggressively says "there is a lane between!" Lord Jesus. At that point we were laughing because it was almost like a comedy skit. I try on my shoes and they don't fit and I unfortunately had to go back up to the counter. She was currently helping someone at the concession stand and as the customer walked away from her she said to me "wooow. Isn't she pleasant?" So it wasn't just us. She comes back towards me and looks at her friend and rolls her eyes and says "yeah. What do you want now?" Seriously? Wow. I tell her a I need a new size and she gives them to me. When I got back to my partner we both decided we didn't want to give that business our money and walked out. Yikes. It was seriously so bad I couldn't believe it. I know it's a bowling alley but customer service and just... I don't know... being a decent human being should count for something. NEVER going there again. She is, I'm assuming, getting paid to do a job. If she has a problem with the work she does to the point where she is nasty, then she should find something that's more fulfilling for her. Cherry Grove Lanes is a great alley right off Beechmont Ave. Maybe it's just me, but I hate going to those fancy-schmancy alleys that make you pay an arm and a leg for some neon glow-in-the-dark cocktail waitress bullsh**. I love me some good old fashioned lanes that still vaguely reek of cigarette smoke and are crawling with people that look like they just got out of bed. At Cherry Grove, the prices are cheap, the staff is friendly, and it's just all around authentic. They always have discounts and deals so make sure to check online or something before you go. On Thursdays they have Unlimited Bowling for $10/person + free shoes from 10pm-Midnight with $1.50 beers. Can't be beat! read more

Fine place to bowl - no issues with that! My issues are with the management! They are not nice, friendly, or accommodating. Advertised a "Summer Special" on their website without a start date and when I asked them to honor it, was rudely told that it didn't start until May 1 and that the people who handled their website put that up by mistake. Emphasis on RUDELY -- she kept trying to argue with me long after I paid! Their website is never current and they often close the lanes for private events without putting a notice online or in their automatic phone message. I've had disappointed kids on more than one occasion. Recommend you call and try to talk to a live person to see if they truly have open bowl and to find out about special pricing they WILL honor. The boys play sand volleyball here every summer. They have great drink specials and the atmosphere is very laid back. Sometimes I wish they had more seating, but what can you do? The girls and I love to go watch them play, but probably more for the socializing than anything else ;). read more

We've bowled here w/ our 4 young kids several times in the past couple years. We all have a blast. It is clean. It is a modern bowling alley, but it's not hip boutique bowling. When we've played it's been during Family Play Specials, usually . Just good clean fun. Staff always friendly and helpful and welcoming. They have a few large screens they pull down and play music videos with the music kinda loud which is fun. I've never seen any drunken or rowdy behavior at the family-oriented specials, although there is a bar that has a door-entrance behind the snack bar and it's hardly noticable. They have a small arcade area that has the tickets w/ prizes, which many younger kids love (ours included). The food at the snack bar is not too expensive and actually decent for what/where it is. They run plenty of specials, so you can spend a few hours of fun w/ some food, too, for a reasonable cost. read more

However when we arrived at the door we were informed along with a couple of other people who were there for the morning open bowl special that there would be no open bowling today! (May 7, 2017) I let them know my disappointment having 4 kids expecting a fun morning of bowling and said that I had just checked the website and it said they had a SUNDAY MORNING SPECIAL!
