We had the stuffed hen breast, crab cake, mixed vegetables and roasted potatoes. The crab cake was dry and not seasoned served with cocktail sauce which was a no no! It would have been better with a lemon dill or hollandaise sauce. The stuffed hen was dry too and last season. Now I will say our event was delayed due to the weather which could cause food to be dry but the lack of season that was caused by not adding enough. The desserts were pretty good. I had a bite size chocolate mousse ball and small slice of strawberry shortcake, sorry no pictures of the desserts. Overall good experience.

Last night my company had our annual Christmas dinner here. The ballroom was large enough to hold…read moreover 300 adults and children. We were all seated very comfortably and the wait staff stayed on top of table top clearing. The food here was really good, we did more of a second Thanksgiving. We are a Korean and American work family so we often have to meet in between to keep everyone happy. The children ran around with balloon pets and enjoyed getting their faces painted while chowing more on Korean snacks than real food. The adults mingled and enjoyed the open bar. As the evening came to a close I thought I would treat myself to a juicy mandarin. As I stand in the lobby tossing it from one hand to the other, my boss's little daughter walked up to me with full arm extended and fingers stretched, in the most cutest gesture, signaling that she wanted it.... How could I resist, no mandarin for me.

I've seen the Silver Spring Civic Building during my visits to the area, yet being inside was a…read morefirst. The great hall & ballroom hosted the 16th Annual Gap Buster's Inc. Gala presenting a fanfare to the African culture with the backdrop of the building's ecofriendly & urban architectural design. In both areas I crossed paths with some of the Hospitality, A/V & Catering teams who were interactively busy & pleasant. GapBuster is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit & minority-founded educational organization dedicated to empowering the community through education benefiting their students/mentees in aiming to close the educational performance gap. The gala featured Keynote Speaker Kojo Yankah, former Member of the Ghana Parliament & founder of the African University College of Communications. Other special guets included Pat Lawson-Muse of NBC News 4, Congressman Jamie Raskin & Montgomery County Council At-Large Candidate Hoan Dang. The notable guest of the evening in which I had the esteemed honor in meeting, was King Peggy (Nana Amuah-Afenyi VI - born Peggielene Bartels), the first woman King & Reigning Chief of Tantum in Ghana. I didn't venture around the entire space, however on my way out I quickly spanned the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery (former First Lady of MoCo) that supports the arts & humanities. The portico to the plaza is a popular space for concerts, famer's market, festivals, live entertainment...I saw light advertisement for the upcoming seasonal ice skating rink & annual Silver Spring Jazz Festival which is held in front of the building. There's a parking garage across the street on Ellsworth Drive if you can't find street parking. I saw many people parking in the Whole Foods parking lot...not suggesting, just to note. From the Silver Spring Metro Rail Station - Red Line, it's a very casual 15 minute walk.

I'm writing this review strictly about a member of The Great Room staff…read more I was delivering cupcakes for an event last weekend and when I arrived, I was told I need to talk to Angie (Head Event Manager) about logistics. Once I found her, simple questions like 'where do I put the cupcakes' and 'what time does the event start' were met with cold, short replies from Angie. She asked why the cupcake boxes weren't labeled and I told her my client did not request it, I was only told to make the cupcakes and deliver them. The flavors were pretty obvious but I wrote them down anyway. She then implied that I wasn't prepared, again in a condescending tone. Certainly not how I wanted to be treated after spending 6 hours making cupcakes! I was actually considering having an event here, but if I have to deal with Angie I definitely won't be booking them.

We also loved that our caterer brought in their truck utilizing the parking spaces in the front, which really made the outdoor patio feel more private and connected to the party inside. Considering that all vendors are booked independently of the venue, it made DIYing our wedding easier. Scheduling walkthroughs and mapping out the venue floor plan with Rachel was a breeze and Gemma was quite responsive via email to answer any questions you had. Booking our date was especially easy given that we requested a weekday at their hourly rate. On the day of, Tyler was the acting venue manager and was also great and easy to work with. If we had to do it all over again, we would still choose MSB. Thank you for making our day the best day of our lives!

We chose Main Street Ballroom for our…read morewedding venue due to the flexibility of its catering requirements and gorgeous interiors, and we absolutely made the right call. The staff were flexible and communicative throughout the planning process. Because MSB is already so beautiful, we ended up saving a ton of money on décor. We also saved money by providing our own alcohol and caterer, rather than going through a venue approved caterer as many venues require. Everyone at our wedding remarked on the gorgeous setting and we loved getting ready in the bride's and groom's rooms! If you want to take first look photos, we recommend going to the Patapsco Female Institute, which is just around the corner.

As soon as I pulled up to unload my car - I was offered help. The guy brought a dolley to my car so I could easily transport the decorations to the room. Con: I called to request early arrival to set-up two weeks in advance but was told no early set up are not allowed. Unless the person booking the room pays extra. The guy was very mean and had an attitude. I was just inquiring so I could plan to arrive early. Baby shower started at 3:30 so I only had one hour to unload my car, set-up, and blow up balloons. This isn't enough time to allow a person. I think your staff could rethink the policy to allow folks in early to set-up. And not charge an additional fee. Other than that one hiccup - the shower turned out nicely. And the day of the event, the staff was friendly and nice.

This location can be used for any event and the owner was more than accommodating and willing to listen to my needs and assist! Only note I can pass is, pay close attention to the address, that block has several "5701". There's an A, B and C and located on main sidewalk. The first door of the building (A), then a tobacco store (B) and then another unit in the parking lot (C).

So I went up the street to get gas came back within the 10 mins she still was not there. So now it's almost 11:30 I'm reached out again to get an ETA and she says tho the person that was coming to do the walk through (which I thought it was her the owner) she then says they got locked out and cannot get access to the key. I said ok I've sat here almost 30 minutes and if I hadn't reached out to you when were you going to communicate that to me. Mind you she never called me I kept calling her. Long story short I just ended up leaving of which I told her I was going to leave after waiting almost 45 mins of which she still didn't show up within the time frame she indicated. What a lack of communication and customer service.
