Melo & Sons Upholstery - Cabot House custom sofa disassembled and reassembled

Who knew that furniture disassembly and reassembly was a thing? I certainly didn't until I treated…read moremyself to an extra cozy Boston Interiors sectional and the sofa portion wouldn't fit up my front or back staircase. Whoops! I had already been waiting two months for delivery, so to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Then the panic kicked in. Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

The team was able to take it apart in Ipswich, bring the pieces to my new apartment in Beverly, and rebuild it in my living room. She said that she would do the repairs to the wood chair and would re-cover it and promised delivery of the completed chair in early-December. She did not keep her promise. She then promised to deliver in mid-December. Again, she did not keep her promise but said that it would be delivered at the end of December, yet another promise that she did not keep. In early January, she said that it would be done and delivered in mid-January of 2022. At this point, I asked a police officer to go to her home - she was not returning any of my calls or my emails or text messages - and he reported back that she showed him some disassembled wooden chair parts, which she identified as our chair, and said that they were working on it and that it would be ready "soon". I followed up with a phone call to her number and found that my phone number had been blocked. On January 12, 2022, I sent an email firing her and demanded the return of our chair (in whatever condition it was in) and the leather fabric. She did not respond (again). I then had to file a Lawsuit against her and that is now scheduled for trial in June of 2022. I wish I had never met her or give her our property - which she still has not returned. Don't let this happen to you. Julie Painter d/b/a "Classic Restorations" does not keep her promises, does not communicate and is not honorable.

She won't return my deposit and I had to harass her for weeks for her to return the drawer to the desk. She makes up lie after lie about why it wasn't ready and then why it was damaged. After the desk fell into a million pieces and a reassuring call from Fred that it could still be fixed, I could not be happier with the most amazing restoration. Not only is it back in one piece, the tambour is fully functional and looks amazing. I couldn't have found a better business to work with, and Fred has been so helpful every step of the way. Both Fred and Meg are extremely talented and their attention to detail is remarkable. The entire process with them was seamless and conducted with ease. They are incredibly professional and flexible in terms of scheduling. Certain items needed to be repaired at their facility and those items were picked up and returned promptly. Other items were repaired onsite in our home and they were especially respectful of our time and environment. The quality of their craftsmanship is unparallel. I would highly recommend entrusting them with your most treasured items because they will take the time to ensure the piece is restored back to its original glory and sometimes, even better than before.
