Walked in behind a group of about 7 people with 2 little kids. Thought, hmm, may take a while. Nope!! These folks are efficient as can be! In very short order they served the group and then got to me and my wife. NOTICE!! Portions were HUGE! Ordered a scoop of espresso chocolate chip and a scoop of Smoky mountain fudge. Both were delicious!! And huge. I mean, I'm a big ice cream fan, but even I was wondering if I could eat it all. Ha! So good I forced myself to!! Wife got a scoop of espresso chocolate chip and plain chocolate in a waffle cone. They gave her a cup just in case. She ate the whole thing, too! I'm from Cincinnati and there's a place there called Graeter's that has been unbeatable as for taste and texture. I think we've found someone to match them!! If you're in Gulf Shores and looking for ice cream, look no farther than Cherry on Top! This is THE place!! read more

Amazing service, great environment and good ice cream for warm days like today. Recommend if you're on the boardwalk and it's hot, stop by Cherry on Top. The servers were great and very attentive, even when the shop got packed they didn't sweat a beat or change posture, something you hardly see nowadays. We advised them that one of your child was highly allergic to tree nuts and just asked to have the spoon rinsed off completely, but the kid behind the counter took it a step further, put on a second gloves and offered to get a new tub to ensure no cross contamination, which we greatly appreciated but advise not needed as there were no tree nuts surrounding the choice my daughter wanted. Servings are plentiful as well. I decided on the peanut butter cookies and cream that did not disappoint. The area outside has shade and allows to cool off while having multiple corn hole sets for the family to enjoy as they're eating or resting. read more

I was fond of this place back when it was a donut shop but now it's an ice cream spot. Cherry On Top, nestled in the heart of Gulf Shores main public beach area at 132 W. 1st Ave, just one street over from the beachfront road, a in front of De Sotos, and behind new hotel. My recent visit at this family-owned ice cream parlor which has been delighting locals and visitors alike since 2021 and even more so since it changed ownership and remodel in 2023. This local gem is known for its great frozen treats welcoming atmosphere, making it on convenient and and tasty destination in the area. Great little ice cream shop with a fantastic selection of flavors and generous servings. It's not a very big shop, but there are several benches outside where you can sit to enjoy your treats. First time here and it was a hit! Super friendly staff that offered to allow us to try flavors. Didn't need to but I did ask for a half size sundae and was accommodated. Love that they use Mayfield ice cream. I got the tropical and husband got the PB&Yay. Both were excellent! I popped in fairly early on a Saturday, early enough that I was the only customer. This place is covered practically floor to ceiling with every variety of cheesecake imaginable, in individual portions to giant shareable cakes. There are a few other treats available too, like cookies. After browsing the flavors, I decided on a small sized turtle cheesecake. I think it was maybe labeled as individual but I comfortably shared it for a smallish dessert with my parents. My one disappointment was that all the smaller cheesecakes I could see were in circular servings (like a large hockey puck) instead of slices. I don't know if I'm just bad at looking for things or if they don't sell slices anymore, but I made out okay with my dessert. Service was very friendly and welcoming and got me rung up quickly. I took a quick bite while it was still cold and then saved the rest for about 1.5 drive up to our lunch spot on our way home. It held up pretty well in the air conditioned car. The bites were delicious both times. It's a pleasantly thick and creamy cheesecake. I enjoyed the chocolate cookie crust though I wish there'd been slightly more of it. The turtle toppings on top really added extra tasty flavor, though I only found chocolate and caramel -- no nuts despite it being a turtle cheesecake. That was kind of a bummer, but I still really liked my dessert. I'd happily get this same cheesecake again. Definitely worthy of a try if you find yourself in the area!

Sure enough, we were kindly greeted at the entrance and seated right away. We had the nicest waiter, Alex. He said he'd worked there awhile and seemed to love his job. We had the following for lunch: Apps- Oyster Jesse Crab & Tasso Gratin Entree- Fish sandwich (Redfish was served today) @ MP ($25), and we chose house made fries as the side. One of the best lunches ever,'in this area. Can't wait to go back for dinner! It will definitely be one our go-to places. Anxious to try everything on the menu. I highly recommend it to anyone, who doesn't mind paying the price for good, quality food. To add, the view is lovely! All the windows in the restaurant face the bay. Summer, our waitress, was a wonderful example of southern hospitality and local knowledge with a sparkling personality! It was obvious that the staff worked hard and took great care with every guest.
