Cheryl is the best. If she doesn't have something she will find out for you. Been good to the store for years. Give her a try.

Certainly a choice - but that level of disrespect to customers (in this case exiting from the freeway specifically to shop them) deserves contempt, and discontinuance of any future business...which they have accomplished.

Kind of a middle of the road review here, to be entirely honest. If you live in the Charleston…read morearea, your options for local games stores have significantly dwindled in the post-COVID years. You can definitely see the effects of the shrinking population size as well. There are currently three local games stores in the area, this being one of them. It's the oldest of the stores in the area and has been around quite a while. Despite this long-term experience, there is still a lot to be desired from this location. They only have one staff member, the manager, who knows remotely anything about Magic the Gathering. If you want to sell cards, you have to catch JB while he's there or just come back another time. They aren't firing any events currently, either. Everyone has migrated to The Board Room. They aren't really doing much at all outside of being present and selling product as far as I know. There used to be an Adventurer's League for D&D, which has been dead for a while, the Magic scene has fled the store entirely, it's just mostly barren these days. The store is almost always dirty, and unless JB is present good luck getting anyone to give you the time of day. The good and middle of the road part is that JB is a great guy, good at customer service, and their selection is almost always solid. They offer fair pricing on Magic singles, doing both cash and credit as options. Compared to The Board Room, their pricing on product is also a lot better, as TBR has their packs marked up by quite a bit higher than average for current Standard sets. They have an account system these days to track store credit, which is nice. They lost an employee to the aforementioned competitor, The Board Room, and I truly think this is a sign of the end for this business. As far as I can tell, he was the only thing really holding them together as far as any form of organized play goes. The entire Magic crowd followed him out the door. So, TLDR it's a good place to go and buy/sell Magic singles, or look for other stuff to buy like board games, minis, comics, etc without having to deal with the odd markups, but if you're looking to actually play something here, then good luck. I'd at least recommend it over Pair-A-Dice in St. Albans, even if they are firing events.

I happened to find out about this newly opened store. I gave them a call and came to find out they not only carried comics, but could also help me with my burgeoning Magic the Gathering addiction. I had to park a few blocks away from this location, not because of where it was located but because there was a full on street festival happening in downtown Beckley. The store itself is on a quaint road in downtown, and has a large windowed storefront. This store is so new, they still had their temporary signage up out front. I walked in and quickly saw a large "Commander" MtG game being played and was immediately welcomed by a dog licking at my ankles. I then noticed a few cats lounging around and perched throughout the store. If I lived in Beckley, I'm sure this would quickly become a favorite hang out. They host various card and table top game nights throughout the week, and also have deals for those who buy several comics. In addition, they had a set of MtG cards I had not seen before, as well as a few rares I had to scoop up while I was there. One of the workers also advised me they are in the process of online cataloging all of their cards, so users can quickly browse their inventory before heading over to the store. I watched the Commander game for about an hour and ended up walking away with a new deck and several other cards, as well as a comic. The employees were all extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and very welcoming. I need to find a similar store close to home.

I have been going to this establishment for over 15 years and for the longest time and until I…read morestarted to sell things had very good experiences. The three employees (including the manager) are very helpful and are willing to help you get to a reasonable payout if you're trading and price when you're buying. The store has a good amount of inventory at hard to beat prices. My problems start with the owner. To explain this best I have been trading in things here for a while now trying to declutter my house for my mental health. I didn't want to just give it away nor have the space to do a yard sale, so I go to page 3 to get at least a little for what is usually a lot. Last time I came, the owner (who basically does all trade ins if he is there) was there and looked through my stuff, as he is done and says there is not much he is interested in (fair) he said he would do a couple dollars for the things he picked out (once again fair) but as he looks through my discs he hits them against a glass case which is not good for either the glass case or discs. Note he did not buy the discs, they were not his, I asked politely please do not hit my things against the table, he said he did not and I didn't think more of it. Then I asked for help looking for a game and he said if it's not on the shelf we don't have it, I tried to explain my eyesight wasn't the best that day and may need help, which was absolutely shrugged off. After that (yes there is more) I picked up a few games and asked if I could trade the two games for the two items I had and asked how much the sports games were, I asked the question about the two games and was shot down immediately then asked about one and was shot down again, not even told how much it would be after my trade credit was applied which wasn't even told to me at the time. Then I asked about the sports games, and he once again hit the games against the counter and said $10 which isn't terrible but I felt disrespected and when he went to another customer I grabbed my stuff including what I had intended on trading and left the premises. I think I was treated this way because I haven't used cash in a while and have only used trade credit to get my items which is unacceptable when the store only gets merchandise FROM trades and it is a tough time to use cash and after I had shopped from this store for YEARS. I still plan to shop at this store for the atmosphere and assortment of pop culture items and video games but I do not recommend dealing with the owne
