Please make sure you read this review very carefully. Cheryl's Herbs is making products and does NOT possess an accredited Good Manufacturing Process certificate (GMP). We contacted them and on day one notified them that we sold on Amazon. We were informed that not only where they a GMP facility, they also confirmed that they work with "several" Amazon sellers. After they collected over $10,000 from my company we learned that they not only did not work with "several" Amazon sellers, they in fact did NOT have an accredited GMP certificate. After over 3 months of them kicking the can down the road and saying that they were actively working to resolve my issue, they finally came back with their solution. Their solution was for my company to pay an additional $8000 to get Cheryl's Herbs accredited. Yes you read that correctly. They want MY company to pay for them to become accredited so that they can make products under the guidelines required when we bought from them. Just know that their GMP is worthless when it comes to 3rd party verification. We are now left holding the bag after all their empty promises. read more

Finding a place with all natural herbs and hair and body products while also supporting local business, is right up my alley. What's even more up my alley is a well organized and clean establishment with great customer service. So let's just say my experience at Cheryl's, checked off all my boxes. And the prices are very reasonable as well. The staff was friendly and helpful and if they didn't know the answer to a question they did not hesitate to look it up. Cheryl's is such a gem! It's located just across the street from the main strip of Maplewood shops and restaurants. The store smells amazing and has the biggest selection of wellness items. Came in today with a relative that lives out the US that's here for the week. Well there was a lady there that was unsure upon a question asked and asked another for assistance which I appreciated. The next lady that came and helped was very kind and friendly as the first. She offered assistance and what I love was that the lady not only made an attempt to help but she offered other options which was not available at the store but they did not carry. I loved the fact that this individual went above and beyond and didn't try to sell anything. The basis on doing that alone made me definitely consider coming back. Cute shop with very friendly staff. Everyone in the store seemed very knowledgeable about the products and invested in making sure everyone had a good shopping experience. I would have appreciated if the prices were posted anywhere, or if there was more signage explaining the benefits or directions for use of the products. It was like stepping into herb heaven. It smelled like heaven. It was peaceful and calm like heaven. And there was tea. The heaven I imagine has all those things. I'm super big into natural living and alternative healing, which is why I'm shocked I never knew about this place. It's in the less built-up part of Maplewood and just kind of sits there all quiet and hidden. But once inside, it's truly a mecca of all things herbal. There are teas and tinctures, supplements and oils. You can create your own essential oils and the people who work there are delightful and full of information. Cheryl even teaches classes. I love this place. They take time with me--I'm hard to focus-- they look me in the eye and listen. The knowledge and the herbs are the best also. I had a severe tooth infection that literally was life-threatening and I tried them instead of chemicals/antibiotics because I have had some recent bad experiences with Western Medicine. The liquid herbal extracts they recommended--Clove bud, Plantain leaf, and Myrrh gum tincture (used according to instructions-not ingested--) Completely got rid of the infection. I have been a slow-learner, but I now understand why so many healthy-looking people use natural time-tested treatments. Thank you so much for giving us an alternative. My body was damaged severely in the past because I had no choice but to take anti-depressants in large doses and anti-anxiety meds for decades-- doctors decided to discount my insistence that I had survived trauma as a child (and that I believed in more natural ways of helping me deal with it). After weaning myself off of the chemistry and simultaneously working my butt off in therapy, I'm still alive. It was very empty there. The photos show almost all the shelves stocked and it warm and welcoming. That was not the case as I walked in. There was one one thing on the shelves. The employees didn't make me feel comfortable. They just stood behind the front counter and played on their phones. They were hard to approach and felt intimidated by them. I'm not 100% sure if they do any anything in stock. I did over hear someone asking about an order. After hearing their conversation, it sounds as if everything is ordered from the shop and then you can pick it up in store. I was disappointed thinking I could find a shop close to home. I have a side business that makes aftershave products. Because of this, I go through a lot of extracts and essential oils. I had been ordering my products online, but I saw that Cheryl's had them for just a little bit more, so I thought I'd shop local. I went in the other day after work to pick up some stuff and ask some questions. I gathered up everything I needed and went to the counter, hoping to find somebody working at the store. As I sat everything down, someone came out and asked me if he could help me find anything. I had, in fact, wanted to smell some neroli essential oil for a new fragrance I was working on. I had looked it up online before I came in to make sure I pronounced it correctly (NERoli), but when I asked he said, "Oh, it's pronounced nerOLi." Cool, thanks for correcting me unnecessarily. Even though I had $100 of stuff on the counter ready to check out, he said, "It costs over $30, so you probably don't want it." Well, if you say so. Then he proceeded to talk so much about how great their essential oils were the whole time we checked out. Cool, wish someone would let me smell them and check them out. But figuring one employee wasn't representative of everyone, I went in earlier today with my girlfriend, who had a long list of things she needed to make a few products. While we looked around, I helped her locate everything she needed in the essential oil counter. Then, Cheryl herself came out. She asked if we needed anything, to which my girlfriend replied, "Yes, I have a few essential oils I need." Cheryl said, "They're in the counter." They stared at each other for a few seconds in silence without Cheryl offering to open the counter, asking her what she needed, or any other basic functions of the bare minimum of customer service. As my girlfriend asked for the essential oils, I went and grabbed some stuff I needed. I came up, and Cheryl was asking my girlfriend if she actually wanted the oils or was just pricing them. When she said she was actually making a purchase, only then did Cheryl open the counter. As she pulled out the essential oils, my girlfriend asked for a larger size of the lavender. Cheryl replied, "That's a bit more expensive. You probably only want the smaller size." (At this point, I'd like to point out that we are both very clean cut. In fact, I am often told that I look like Clark Kent.) So my girlfriend decided that she was just going to buy the essential oils she had asked for (because it is apparently SO terribly difficult to open the counter) and forget the rest of her stuff. Plus, Cheryl insinuated she was too poor to buy it, so who knew when she would cut her off. I checked out and, because it was a business expense, I asked for an itemized receipt. They guy didn't give me one the day before, so I had nothing for accounting purposes. She replied, "You mean other than the credit card receipt?" "Yes." "Listed out seperately?" "Yes, I need it for business accounting purposes." "Well..." (Again, let me point out that this is Cheryl, the business owner, who should understand what a business owner would need) "Let me see if this works." The receipt prints out and it's not itemized. "Well, I guess if you REALLY need it, I could look around and find the things to write you an itemized receipt by hand. I don't know if..." she trailed off, waiting for me to jump in and say it. "No, that's fine. I'll just skip it," I said. "Oh, okay, good. Thanks!" And those were the last words I heard in the last visit I'll ever make to Cheryl's Herbs. Taking my business back online. I'd really like to buy local, but I'd also like to be treated like a 33 year old man who would be bringing in about $300-$400 of revenue monthly. I know it's not a ton, but you'd think you'd show the basic modicums of decorum to people who want to give you their money. Too bad. read more

As a chemist who used to work in the pharmaceutical industry, I'm super wary when it comes to traditional drugs. Unless it's a dire emergency, I refuse to take them. It's sort of how people who work at McDonald's won't eat there. I just know TOO much. Okay, and I'm also kind of a hippie. While pharmaceutical treatments definitely have their place in the medical field, I'm a strong believer in natural remedies. So Cheryl's Herbs is pretty much my new favorite place. I came in the other day for a few things, and the people that work there DEFINITELY know their stuff. We chatted about some of the different options available, and I left with my purchases, feeling like I not only received the best price, but that my materials were of the highest grade. Stopped by to get Mary's tea (anti-cancer tea), and noticed that they have moved across the street from the 7159 Manchester listed, and are now at 7170 Manchester. They have SO much stuff. They have organic palm oil for cooking, and many other organic cooking oils and also jojoba and aloe. They also have essential oils for aromatherapy, and different elixirs and herb combinations to help what ails you. They also have a wall full of spices. Other products include dry scalp shampoo and multivitamins. When I asked them to advise a product for a specific concern, they helped and recommended multiple possible products in various price ranges. read more

This store is like chock full of herbs, oils, skincare items, etc. It is absolutely a one-stop-shop. There are various jars and bottles you can buy to make & mix your own herb & oil concoctions. In the back across from the counter they have some discounted items. The prices are pretty good. Some items seem a bit high, but I used to have to order things off the internet, so it about evens out since I don't have to pay shipping anymore. And I'd much rather support a local shop than buy online. My boyfriend is a really frequent customer of Cheryl's because he buys supplies for his business here. They have been nothing but helpful and friendly each & every time he goes back to restock on herbs he needs. WOW- Walked into Cheryl's herbs yesterday, where I have been going for 20+ years and what a sad sight that was!!! Shelves almost empty and worst of all....Mary Kate quit a few weeks ago!!! For HER to quit, things must be really, really, really bad there.....Shit flows downhill from the top so I wish -"you know who", would just sell out so that the place can live on. Many people rely on the awesome products sold there and your ego and obvious total, failure as a business owner is showing loud and clear......potentially hurting hundreds of others. It's again, obvious that you don't give a hoot about the place or your employees, who have put their heart & soul into the place for years. I know there was talk a while back of the employees buying you out, but you refused. Please think about it and find something else to do - We need Cheryl's Herbs to survive! read more

The essential oil selection is superb, and there are plenty of bottles and things to purchase to get you started on doing your own oils. First off, I would like to respond to Shawn M. below that Cheryl passed away in May 2015. In his review he mentioned that Cheryl, the owner came to the counter. And he indicated that Cheryl treated him and his girlfriend poorly. His post was in July 2015, so I highly doubt that Cheryl, the business owner (as he described) came out to the counter. I have been to Cheryl's 3 times in over a year and each time, I have had nothing but wonderful experiences. The workers can't help me enough and greet me as soon as I open the door. More than likely this will be my last visit to Cheryl's Herbs. I have always purchased the Young living oil Release blend from Cheryl's Herbs because it was less expensive, and I could buy smaller quantities. This time when I ordered it, the price had gone up about seven or eight dollars. When I got it home, it smelled horrible. It was not the YLO blend. I called and was made to feel at fault. I was questioned as to whether I had specifically requested the YLO blend which they call Rel. I was told that they have always had two blends, which I never knew and had never been told, even though I have bought this particular blend there for a number of years. I'm pretty sure I specifically requested the YLO blend, but even if I had not, you would think the clerk would clarify which blend I wanted. The person I spoke with said that they would redo the order for me. I happened to be in St. Louis a day or so later (I live about 30 miles away) and called to see if the order might be ready. I was told it was not and was questioned as to whether I received a phone call stating that it was. No I had not, I responded, I just thought I would give a call to see if it might be ready since I live a ways away. I was told that there were other orders ahead of me to which I responded, well do you think they could put a priority on this? I'd already bought the stuff. I was almost home, got the call that the blend was ready. I went in this morning to pick it up. I was told I would have to pay an extra $.70 for the blend. After I started to ask for clarification, the woman who I think was the manager told the clerk not to bother charging me. I think it's time I signed up for Young living oil. read more

I love going into this store and visit about every two weeks to purchase Mary's Tea. 2 ounces a day and my doctor always says "Whatever you are doing, keep on doing it!" I plan to do just that! In fact, I ship it to friends all over the country. In addition to Mary's Tea, I have really grown to love a lot of their natural therapeutic products for hair, skin, cleaning, various teas as natural remedies etc....Hydrosols are amazing! There really is no other store in the Midwest like Cheryl's Herbs. If you ever decide you want to eschew the modern medical system, pharmaceuticals, chemical based cleaning and beauty products you will want to check out this cornucopia of natural products and ingredients. Not only can you find bulk herbs, essential oils, hydrosols, natural vegetable based shampoos and cleaning products, you can also find sundry vegetable oils, butters, tinctures, teas, absolutes and herbs used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. In addition to the retail sales arm of the business there is also a library with books on everything from aromatherapy to herbalism and from Traditional Chinese Medicine to Aryudeda. While the books can be read onsite they cannot be checked out. You will also find the staff very knowledgable and helpful in answering your questions about the products in the store and how they can benefit you. The employees are a great resource for the community as is Cheryl's Herbs itself. There are also classes offered onsite for Aromatherapy through the East West School for Herbal and Aromatic Studies. Education is so important if one wants to adopt a new lifestyle! The St Louis area is truly lucky to have this store in our community and I am grateful to have found it. read more

Most certainly the best medicinal herb store in St. Louis. As someone who worked in an herb store for several years in San Francisco (and a certified Herbalist under the Oregon Tilth) Cheryl's is doing a fantastic job. They have a good selection of the most well known Western herbs in several forms: tinctures, oils, and dry herb teas. They also have a large selection of pharmaceutical grade essential oils and offer classes on everything from seasonal herbs to nutrition. I am especially impressed that Cheryl's makes all of their products in the store-- including the tinctures and body care. That means they take the time to macerate all of their herbs in the appropriate liquor, etc. I'm afraid I will have to take off one star because I think their prices are a bit steep. I know that it takes resources to produce these goods and to make a profit off of them, but herbs also need to be accessible for a variety of incomes. For herbs to be effective, one needs to take a descent amount of the remedy. If one bottle of the remedy costs over thirty dollars, it becomes difficult to see how a course of treatment is feasible. Overall, Cheryl's Herbs is a fine herb shop, with a very knowledgeable staff who will offer recommendations for your needs. read more

I always come here for herbal remedies and essential oil needs. They have a good selection of oils, teas, balms, and more. Everything is made in store by their friendly staff. One of my favorite things about the staff here is that they talk to you at your level, whether you are new to herbs and aromatherapy or you are more knowledgeable. And they don't talk down to you! Love the knowledgeable staff and the high quality product. I treat my entire family naturally, using homeopathic remedies and Cheryl's always has exactly what we need when we need it. Using Cheryl's products and remedies my family has been relieved of cold symptoms in half the time then not treated naturally. Symptoms are relieved as well as the source of the cold knocked out quickly. I will say my family is rarely ill since we constantly use the Immunity mix as preventive. The integrity of the product is extremely high as it's obvious the products are produced in small batches. I don't mind waiting for her products and usually stock up so I have them on hand. Can't say enough good things about how wonderful they have been for my extremely dry, sensitive skin. I get compliments on my skin all the time and I I can partially thank these products. Very knowledgeable staff and great about answering any questions. Cheryl also hold some great, informative classes on overall health/beauty and herbs/oils as well as having other alternative health care providers in the store on occasion. I just moved to NYC, and the only places i knew I would miss about STL was my hairdresser and Cheryl's. Cheryl's Herb shop is one of the most beautiful smelling establishments in St. Louis, hands down! I went in seeking Sage Spray (for clarity of mind & peace of soul...) and found new advice on treatment & prevention for my eczema. Since I strongly disagree with over the counter/ pharmaceutical treatments, I am constantly on the search for remedies and concoctions to help with the discomfort of itchy skin. I was directed to use Licorice Root Extract and put it on 2-3 times a day. I've already seen great results. Best find of that stop was the Eastern/Central Medicinal Plants & Herbs Field Guide!
