wines, and a Spiced Pear Liqueur, for a dinner event
    Jeana T.

Vom Fass, which means "from the cask" in German, is full of flavorful items to enhance your meals. They have oils, balsamics, liqueurs, scotch, whiskey, wine, soup starters, specialty salts, tasty jams to accompany cheese and charcuterie, bottles, and, decorative stoppers. On top of all of this, they host dinners and fun events all year round. It is a casual, friendly, and welcoming place. They also have premade gift sets, or, their helpful staff can assist you in creating your own- with complimentary gift wrap! wow!

One of my favorite spots in Maplewood. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, wonderful events and a variety of delicious treats to buy; from specialty oils and vinegars to fancy whiskeys, scotches and wines. You can sample before you buy. Awesome selection of gifts for the foodie in your life, or to treat yourself to.

Went here with my family who lives in St. Louis, we all had a great time tasting Liquors and the guys enjoyed the unique whiskey selections! The employees were very knowledgeable so it was a fun learning experience too! My husband and I bought several to take home, it makes the perfect souvenir, we liked the bottle selections as well! I also bought a delicious, spice blend for cooking seafood. This place would be fun for group events, get togethers and to enjoy on date nights!

What an interesting find in Maplewood! I often read about their various events and have been wanting to stop in for awhile. The employees are super friendly and helpful, very knowledgeable about their products. If you're like me and sometimes indecisive about a purchase, they allow you to sample their products and purchase items in various sizes that are perfectly right for what you need. They have an extensive variety of alcohol and oils, which I love. The packaging for their products is soo cute, yet upscale and affordable. They offer wine tastings and dinners. They have gift boxes in various item selections. The store is cozy, clean and well organized. I can't wait to return and hit up the oil wall and also try on of their dinner events. I love the variety of alcohol from rums to bourbons and gin, etc... The packaging and flavors are awesome!! What a great store for unique gifts, the adventurous baker, wine and cocktail enthusiast and more!!

Every time I leave Vom Fass I am frustrated. Frustrated because my mind tells me no- but my taste buds tell me YES!!! Vom Fass sells luxury. Luxury in liquid forms. This place is full on baller status. A gift from Vom Fass is sure to impress. My personal favorites are Sour Cherry Vodka, Lemoncello, and the Pumpkin Seed Oilve Oil. I wish someone would grant me Carte Blanche @ Vom Fass. A girl can only dream...

Vom Fass is truly a hidden gem. Located right on the main strip of Manchester in the heart of Maplewood, Vom Fass offers olive oils, balsamic vinegars and a variety of alcoholic spirits. All of these are barrel or cask fermented. Customers are welcome to try any of these delicious speciality items before buying. They also have lots of gift options, wine and other gourmet accessories. The staff is friendly and knowledgable about their products. This little shop is clean, bright and organized. I've visited it many times and I adore each and every item I've bought from them. No trip to Maplewood is complete without visiting Vom Fass.

One of my favorite little places to visit in Maplewood! You really only need to know one thing though...taste-testing! They let you sample the olive oils, vinegars, and specialty liquor. Yes, please, and thank you - may I have another?!? Yes, the answer is always yes! The staff are super friendly and helpful, and they're quick to offer guidance when asked. They don't follow you around or hover, but they're available as needed. The store is really just a small shop, but boy is there a ton of good stuff in there! I'm a fan of the various flavors of brandy and Italian wines. If you like specialty shops, nice wines, love to cook or know someone who does, or you just want to explore Maplewood then make sure to include a stop at Vom Foss. They've got a taste-test sample just waiting for you!

I stopped in to pick up a pork loin because I was around the corner, looking for ~3-4lbs of meat. They only had a 1 1/2 pound in the case (order taker weighed it to confirm before going to the back, which should've been my first warning) so I asked if they had any larger ones. They were nice enough to check and offer to cut one. That's where things went downhill. After waiting 5 or 10 minutes, my order taker came back out to ask how I wanted it prepped (bone or boneless, skin on or off). I said skin off and ambivalent on the bones. This was my mistake, leaving my fate to the hands of someone profit motivated. I walked out with just about a 3 pound bone in roast, which is maybe half a pound more meat than the one and a half pound I turned down - not enough for my guests and I. Had I gotten a roast closer to 4lbs, I would've been unhappy with the price but not enough to write a review. Additionally, they only charged a dollar less for bone in. At $15/lb, I effectively paid the price of their beef for the meat after accounting for the bone. I felt tricked. In hindsight, I should've just turned it down when I saw the price, but I was a bit too shocked to say anything. So I paid my bill and swore that I wouldn't be coming back for anything but (maybe) sausage again.

For studying, the space is really great. Good amount of tables, enough room to spread out, and there are charging ports which is a non negotiable for a long study session. The workers are friendly too. Oh and there's an ice cream shop attached to it. My kids liked the plain avocado toast and breakfast burrito. You go to a counter and order and they package it to go. The line was long and it was a little confusing with different counters giving you different things (coffee drinks, non coffee drinks and food). You seat yourself, we initially were asked to move from sitting in an outside space that apparently was connected to another restaurant. So we had to find and put together another table for 7. This wasn't the most conducive for eating with little kids nor groups. I probably wouldn't return with little ones or a big group, but it would be great for a solo brunch or small group of adults!

When we walked in, we saw the traditional Japanese artwork with their logo. The floors were very clean and mopped as well. The staff were very quick on making our order, as well as being very attentive and quick taking our order. The owner was quick on making my friend's matcha ice cream. I ordered a Taiyaki and Katsu Bowl. The Katsu Bowl's serving size was very plentiful, and the Taiyaki was very good with the red bean paste, even it sounded disgusting to me since I do not like baked beans. I explained to the cashier that I wanted to 2 of the different sized bottles to compare. Afterwards I will decide on which one I was going to purchase. The place settings were all set up with two glasses for wines and a bottle of water as well as a book that we could follow along and take notes on during the class. To our surprise they had a nice charcuterie board set up with meat and cheeses, and also one set up for the dessert wines. The boards were really nice to have but the one thing we noticed was there was no crackers. It sure would've been nice to have some crackers with the meat and cheese or even a couple crackers to eat between wine tastings to clear our palette. The instructor, Mark, was very knowledgeable about each of the wines in the region that it came from.. The only negative thing I could even say about the course is if I did it again, I would not sit in the back row. We were always served last and our pours were way smaller than people in the front. Would I do it again, sure! It was a nice night out and we really enjoy trying the different wines and socializing with other people in the group. Aside from the wine tasting I do a lot of shopping here for different wines. There are always associates willing to help me with any questions that I have and they have an amazing variety of pretty much any type of wine or alcohol.
