In October, they followed up to say they were looking for the correct window stripping so they could provide a quote. I called again to inquire a status, they said they were still looking for the window stripping. They called and said they couldn't find the window stripping, the tech was on a bigger job now and is not available. In November, a representative called to say that a tech would follow up to see if they could schedule something (yay!). I told her that the work still needed to be done and I would still like to use their services. In December, another representative called, said there was a misunderstanding, the previous rep was wrong and that they couldn't schedule anything and no one was available to look for the window stripping. Also, the other representative didn't work there anymore. I followed up again, and they confirmed that they had the original doorbell repair request in addition to the window stripping request (it was never about not being able to find the stripping). I requested that they escalate my request and was promised a call from the general manager, as I really wanted the work completed. I never heard from him. In January, I got a callback from a rep after following up again, who mentioned that the original tech was put on a big project by the GM, so that is why he never finished my job. Also they lost 3 techs and have been busy. I was told that I could expect a callback today by the office manager. I said to the person I spoke to, that the doorbell was still not working, and the window stripping is still deteriorating. I did get a callback from the office manager. She had listened to all of the recorded phone calls and said that there was a misunderstanding and that my weather stripping could not be replaced by them. She suggested that I find another provider for both jobs. I asked why they couldn't still do the doorbell and she said they didn't have an appointment until March 27. I said that would be fine and I requested the appointment. They declined and said that I needed to find another handyman company and said it was "not a 'good fit'". He did meticulous and conscientious work, doing everything he could to ensure that this type of damage won't occur if there is ever another leak. When he found rot to the actual underfloor in he took it in stride and did a great job of making that repair as well. I had ceiling mounted storage shelves, which are fine, but only can hold certain things and you need a ladder to access. I realized that I have a ton of unused space above the garage door and could have a mezzanine built up there that would work better than the ceiling shelves. I contacted Matt at Beach Handyman and explained what I wanted. He asked that I send a few pictures of what I was thinking and he would work the numbers/ideas. I also wanted to add an attic pull-down ladder to make access easier, which Matt was happy to accommodate. Within a day of sending over my thoughts, Matt had a quote ready (which was very reasonable for the work that needed to be done) and we signed a contract. Matt expected 1-2 days to complete which turned into 2+ days, but that was not Matt's fault due to encountering a large steel beam that he had to work around. Matt failed to explain how he cut the wood too short and glued it back together without even mentioning it. Or the extra hole he drilled for a baluster that was left in the wood. Again, not professional. Not quality. To build your business, you have to just do quality work. Matt did contact me after I left the original review to get the carpet cleaned but I had already asked him to clean it before he finished the job. I am not in the business of having people in and out of my home. I hired him for carpentry not carpet cleaning. I honestly didn't trust that he wouldn't ruin it, which is why I did as much as I could myself. Whether it is blue chalk or white chalk, it didn't come out of my carpet and he put it there. My carpet was literally two weeks old and was in a room that we had not had the pleasure of moving into yet. As I shared previously, Matt is nice. Maybe he took on a job that he was not experienced with and we just happened to get the quality of a novice. Maybe he is better now. I don't know. This review was not personal.
