I used their service to repair or update my computers from time to time. But last year my Mac Pro tower was zonked out. A rep said my computer was useless and he refused to look into it. Period. DO NOT BRING YOUR COMPUTER TO CHESAPEAKE SYSTEMS!! I brought in my computer two weeks ago to be fixed. Days later they offered me a couple options about how to proceed. They advised me that a part that they had previously replaced but was still broken was under warranty, and would be replaced by apple for free. When i called to see if my computer was ready to be picked up, they told me they had been emailing apple for days about replacing the part, but to no avail. They said that i had to call apple myself because they "aren't allowed to." (???) I called apple and was informed that the part chesapeake systems claimed was under warranty, was, in fact, about a year out of warranty. I went to the store to ask why i was misinformed, and explain that i need my computer in order to make my living, and that their inability to read a date on their own form was costing me several weeks of work. They told me i would have to send the computer out to apple, that they would back up my data for me for free, as compensation. When i told them i could back up my own data and that wasn't of use to me, they asked me what i would like as compensation. I asked for them to take the chesapeake systems fee out of total cost f the repairs (seeing as they were repairing nothing, and all they had accomplished was delaying the repair for over a week.) The owner of the business was shockingly antagonistic in response to my frustration. He made fun of me, and repeatedly suggested that it was my own fault somehow that they got the year wrong on the warranty. (???? IT'S WRITTEN ON THEIR OWN PAPERWORK) He baited me over and over, asking what kind of compensation i wanted and then telling me my suggestions were ridiculous, without offering any kind of alternative solutions or expressing any accountability for the situation. Eventually I got them to simply refund what i had already paid them for repairs and return my entirely unfixed computer. Now i have to take it to an ACTUAL apple store and have it fixed, which will probably take about a week. All in all, the only thing chesapeake systems did was keep my computer away from me or anyone who could fix it for a couple of weeks, costing me my ability to do my job, not to mention frustrating the hell out of me. DO NOT TAKE YOUR COMPUTER TO CHESAPEAKE SYSTEMS! GO TO A REAL APPLE STORE THIS PLACE IS USELESS AND NOT INTERESTED IN HELPING YOU. read more

By far the most affordable Internet package for businesses in the area. And when C-54 had a few hiccups getting started with service (Hurricane Irene, the Bmore earthquake and a lightning strike at the building, all in the same 30 day period!!), these guys stayed on top of it until all was well! Owners, Mark and Shawn came through personally to see that my business was taken care of... that is great customer service! Perhaps, the coolest thing is CPS is housed in a fully renovated and teched-out church, the conference room is open air and on the pulpit! After taking my computer to the apple store in towson and them pretty much returning the same broken computer 3 days later, I called apple and was sent here. After googling my problem and telling the mac store the problem they didnt fix it. i talked to a tech here and they swapped out the bad part as it was still covered under warranty and to this day i have not had the problem again. Their prices are more expensive than even the Apple store. I have also been expressing another issue with my laptop ever since I got it repaired there but their warranty does not help. For those prices, they should offer a better warranty. The customer service could also use some work read more

They erased and reformatted a drive without checking first to see if all the files had been copied. Of course, the files had not been copied over. They not only freely admitted this but refused to discount the "service" they provided. In other words, they admitted negligence on their part and still charged full price. In my opinion, you would have to be out of your mind to entrust these people with your computer and hard drives. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Chesapeake Systems charged me $189 to look at my computer. They subsequently told me that my warranty was invalidated due to water damage and that the repairs would be $300+. I knew for a fact that my computer had not been exposed to any water damage. I took it to the Apple Store where no water damage was found, and it was repaired at no charge under the warranty. In my opinion, Chesapeake Systems lacks honesty and integrity. Their smug attitude doesn't help. read more

My Mac died. I did some trouble shooting and figured it was either the hard drive or the motherboard. I brought it in and they ran diagnostics and determined that the problem was likely with the logic board. They advised that it might be better for me to buy a new computer rather than spending the money to repair my 7 year old one. They did not charge me for this service and they did not try to sell me a computer (as far as I know they don't sell computers). When I first read reviews on Yelp I was a bit skeptical since they all seemed to be either 5 star reviews or 1 star reviews. Since I did not get any repair work done I don't feel like I can give a 5 star review, but I was quite happy with the service I received. Spectacularly rude receptionist, each of the four times we have brought our computers in for service. While this is the only place near our office where we can get Apple service, we simply brace ourselves for the awful interactions we can expect to ensue. Argumentative, interrupting, condescending and snotty are words that would be my top adjective picks, here. One caveat; Direct phone communications with the tech were normal, civilized interactions. And, it's expensive. Chesapeake Systems charges a minimum of just under $200 to even examine your device, so even if it's a quick fix, you won't get out for less than that and there's always been more on top of that, the actual service work beyond the diagnostic charge. Considering a car can be put up on a lift and parts replaced for $80, it would seem that my assessment of "expensive" would stand. read more

Terrible reception upon walking in,with potato chips eating receptionist,no care whatsoever and no help,rude and sans foutisme.this is the third time i have taken my computer in for similar reasons,replaced the hard drive twice.A week for it to be repaired and chasing after answers each time...customer service ZERO and you feel like you've been had each time you leave. I had a very bad experience here. I had Chesapeake Systems replace a hard drive in November '14 and it had gone bad by the end of February '15. My first encounter was bad enough. They had a very condescending attitude, and did not return my calls when they said they would. They charged me for saving my data but only saved maybe 10% of it. I moved on. When my laptop started acting up again, I took my mac book pro to someone else this time because of the bad attitude of my first encounter with Chesapeake. The new place told me it was the hard drive and that of course Chesapeake should replace it no questions asked... wrong! When I walked back into Chesapeake, the receptionist was starring blankly at her computer screen and hardly noticed I had entered the building. After a minute of silence, she asked what she could help me with. I started explaining what was going on and her cell phone rang and she picked it up and started talking- still not yet having even looked at me. I stopped talking and waited. She hung up and continued staring at the computer screen. I started explaining again, and this time got to explain that the hard drive they had recently installed was going bad. She then quickly looked at me and in a harsh tone asked, "What were you doing to it when this happened?", implying that it was my fault. I explained that I had already taken my computer to another mac service place and they said that it had bad sectors, and that is only a problem that the new hard drive could have come with- I did not create the problem. She then rolled her eyes and exclaimed "Well, your gonna have to pay for that!". I said I'm sorry but I believe that a new hard drive would be under warranty... She paused for a second, then said "No, I mean the labor..." At this point, her attitude was somewhat dismissive, and I figured that if I'm paying someone to fix this again, it will not be Chesapeake Systems. I picked up my laptop and quietly placed it back in my bag and started to walk out. As I reached the door she shouted "Good luck!". If I could leave less than one star, I would. I will not be going back. Do not recommend this place under any circumstance. Shame about that. I work in Hampden, so it was very close. Update!... after this yelp review posted, I was contacted by Chesapeake Systems regarding this incident for which they apologized and refunded the 99$ I was charged for the installation of the bum hard drive... thank you Yelp! read more

When I visited here, the woman at the front desk was not friendly. Barely looked up from her computer as she spoke to me. Wanted over $600 to repair a small water spill on keyboard (flat rate because they send it out to be repaired). Opted to shop around. So glad I did. Had great service at MacMedics in Millersville. Dropped an iPhone in the toilet (it happens!). I put it in a bag of rice and two days later it worked fine. I just thought it would be a good idea to thoroughly dry it out and clean it so called Chesapeake Systems only to be informed by Ms. Saffron (?) that 'We don't do toilet repairs.' Really? Do you people have any idea how filthy a keyboard can get? Get over yourselves- my dog drinks out of the toilet and he's 13 years old. read more

I brought my computer in to have information migrated over from one computer to another. I called several times and left messages to make an appt and did not receive any return calls. I left a final message asking that they let me know if they were unable to handle my repair needs either way- then they responded. I brought my computer in and it was decided that we would simply swap the hard drives in the computers. Unfortunately, I was not notified of vital information. 1st that the lack of ram in the one computer would cause trouble for running some of the software on the computer. 2nd that I could loose some of the software in the swap- which is exactly what happened. Within 24 hours my computer was hacked and I found out that my firewall was disabled. It was very evident someone was on my computer. So I called -again leaving a message about the hack and my concerns .....they never returned my calls.....go figure. I had to go through a specialist with apple over the phone to ensure all was set up properly and my computer would not be accessible again. read more
