Been coming here for several years and I always appreciate the consistency you can expect. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable and I was able to walk into the Knowledge Bar without an appointment and receive help in a reasonable amount of time. The consultation is free and the diagnostic is $50. They use genuine parts when doing repairs and prices are usually pretty good. I bought a laptop here in 2018 with a warranty and still use that laptop. My most recent trip here last month was to get a Ethernet usb adapter which was only $14. Overall I would recommend and would visit again. read more

My wife and I bought two computers from Micro Center. They set the computers up, put on ESET software for internet security. They taught us how to use the computers and were very helpful. I went in for my laptop, that I did not get from Micro Center. I didn't have an appointment during the holidays and I still had an acceptable wait time to be seen. No issues with my warranty and they handled everything. The turnaround was fine with account for the holidays. The ETA on their site was definitely off, but I also wasn't reliant on it and thought that, again, the turnaround and communication via text was great. The employees look like they like to work there and were very customer service oriented. I honestly don't exactly love the parkville area BUT will make an exception for places like this as they did a really great job. Thanks guys! read more

Excellent customer service by Ryan J. I bought an Acer laptop here two years ago and the charging port was never quite right, but I didn't really think about it until it broke. I showed up to Micro Center without an appointment, but Ryan waited on me anyway and was very helpful and kind. I told him my personal opinion and he confirmed the "diagnosis." The laptop was going to be costly to fix and he suggested I purchase a new one and have the data transferred. They were short staffed and I didn't have time to wait for a salesperson, so I retrieved the laptop from Ryan and planned to return. He was very professional and respectful. read more

Prior to moving to the area, I had heard about Micro Center as being a great place for value with good customer service, but had never visited one. Today was my first visit, and I was pleasantly surprised with how awesome the store is. It's everything you ever wanted the old Fry's Electronics, Incredible Universe, or Best Buy to be. The store is packed floor ceiling with everything technology related, from easy to use off the shelf, consumer electronics like Apple MacBook laptops, appliances, and office chairs to more niche things, such as electronics components and 3-D, printers and supplies. There is a surprisingly large number of employees, all of whom were exceptionally helpful, but not bothersome or pressuring me to make a purchase. I ended up coming for one of the Internet-famous sales to buy my first 3-D printer to dip my toe into that realm of geekdom, and felt like all of the feedback I was receiving was incredibly honest and consistent with the research I did ahead of time, and the salesman pointed out both the pros and cons of the product I was looking to get. Based on my experience here, I would trust the store above pretty much any other electronic store I've been to to buy for myself due to the value, and to send friends and family too due to the great customer-focused service. read more

Since I am working from home, I wanted to see if I could an affordable way to hook up a 2nd monitor to my laptop. I did look online prior to coming in, but I figured out it was best to ask the pros about it. I walked inside and found a lot of taped arrows to follow for certain sections and to help with social distancing. When tou walk un they have hand sanitizer and masks available for customers. There was a greeter at the station, but he was busy assisting other customers. I went to the computer section and asked the young man for help and told him what I was looking for. So he sent me to aisle 8 and advised he would get me some help. I went where I was told and waited til assistance came. A gentleman ame and asked me hiw could he help me. And again I informed him of my request, then he said were you the one looking for the HDMI extension, I said yes. He took me down the aisle and informed me that I would a HDMI docking station. He showed me some in various price ranges, starting from $89 to over $100, which I was in no position to spend over $50. I thanked him and told him honestly that price point was out of my range and I would check with my job about getting a docking station. read more

I brought my laptop in to have a broken speaker replaced. I got it back 3 days ago and thus far the computer is working well. I'll preface this review by saying that I would have rated the business 4 stars for the work done, but their customer service has major issues. I will also preface this review by mentioning that I told all of these issues to a guy who seemed to be some level of in charge when I picked up my item, so this should not blindside them. July 1 - I dropped off my computer needing a new speaker. I mentioned that I was doing this over a holiday to reduce the amount of time I'd be without it, as I wouldn't need the computer over the holiday so getting it back early the next week wouldn't be too bad. The CS rep didn't correct me or say my expectations were wrong. Later that evening I get a price quote and am told that I'd be contacted once they got a tracking number to give me a timeframe. July 2 - not having heard back, I text them and am told that the ETA is the following Wed or Thurs (july 7 or 8). Not "early next week" but ok. Why did I have to contact them to get this info? When in the store I was told that they'd do the work the same day it arrived, so it should be ok. July 9 - Wed/Thurs came and went, and I heard nothing. I texted for an update on Friday and was told that they got the wrong part and now were waiting on the right part. Why did they not call/text me to advise of delay; I had to find this out on my own? Why was I never offered expedited shipping at my expense? July 12 - Three more days later I text for an update, no reply. July 13 - I text again, no reply all afternoon. This is despite the fact that they WANT you to correspond via text - there is no phone number for this business on their website. So I use their chat feature with their reps and am told that they have the part in their possession so "any day now" (so much for fixing it the same day it comes in) it should be ready. At 9:21 PM that same night (nearly 12 hours after my morning inquiry), I get a text from the store telling me that the part has not yet arrived at the store (contrary to what I was told that afternoon). [Side note: not sure if others would agree, but texting at 9pm is not polite or professional. You don't know what time people go to bed. If you're doing business at night, maybe email customers instead.] July 14 - another text at 9:21 PM (that's odd, are they programmed to send texts at that hour?) telling me computer is ready to pick up. Two weeks after dropped off, despite I was told would be a few days. In short, the work done appears to be fine. I even "get it" that delays happen. But communication failed at literally every stage of the process, leaving a VERY bad taste in my mouth. Also, and this is a secondary complaint, why did I have to pay for a diagnostic check when the genius bar (or whatever it's called) guy diagnosed the problem right in front of me within less than 5 minutes, confirmed what I told him, and told me what part I needed before I left the store and without running any "diagnostic"? read more

I had a fantastic experience at your location in Parkville, Maryland Mike was my Tech who bent over backwards to assist me (he really wanted to assist me with my Old Mac Computer. It belongs to my Daughter who DJs PT to help with her income and College Debt. Her computer would not start so Mike did a full work up of the unit and also sold me another USB type Drive and down loaded all of her Macs hard drive info on it so we can back up a new PC when she saves a little more money and we buy her a new Mac or rebuilt PC from you guys. Again Mike was just super and texted me several times to keep me in the loop as to my Mac status. Hats off to Mike!! Thank you Micro Center Towson! You guys are life savers who have social distancing shopping down to a science! I needed an adapter cable so both me and my son can work from home. When I got here, there was an evenly spaced line. Staff is checking people in and taking cell numbers so you can wait in the car. They text when it's your turn to enter. Once inside, staff is helpful. And not too close! Sanitizer is at the register for use before and after handling money. Great job people! read more

Honestly surprised that this place is an Authorized Apple Service Provider. I made an appointment through the Apple website for battery replacement. Battery replacement through Apple is $199 from their pricing chart. Micro Center told me it would be $315. Perhaps this is Apple's fault for not being clear about authorized third party service provider terms, but I felt ripped off. Micro Center then told me that my computer's USB ports weren't working properly, that they were unable to run the diagnostic because of this, and that whatever was wrong with it would cost me $1,000 so I should just buy a new computer. Something felt wrong to me so I took it for a second opinion at the Genius Bar. Surprise. The battery repair? $199 as promised via Apple pricing chart. My USB & other ports? Not broken, working perfectly fine. Diagnostic? Able to run, working perfectly. If I had listened to Micro Center, I might have foolishly bought a new computer before its end of life. It's a shame because I really liked the store and its offerings when I was wandering around. I did speak with Apple about my experience here after I learned my computer was actually fine and the battery could be replaced. I'm very glad I listened to my gut and got a second opinion at the Apple Genius Bar. read more

So this place was very interesting. I never even knew it existed until I called the apple store and they referred me to come here. I decided to make an appointment and by surprised there was a $40 fee just for them to look at my computer. I was sad but I just paid it because I really wanted to get my apple computer fixed. It cost $600 to get my computer fixed. I can honestly buy a brand new one from Best Buy starting at $800. Honestly I would probably NEVER come back here because I can go to the apple store for free. The cost of them looking at my apple computer and fixing it was so much higher than taking it to the apple store. I got a chance to walk around the store and look at other computers and I want to say they were very expensive compared to going to Best Buy. I typically go to Best Buy or the APPLE store to purchase my computers because they have great discounts and sales. For example if you are a student or even if you have a apple card you get some amazing discounts on stuff. I don't think it is worth coming here. I live an hour away. I had to come to the store 3 separate times in a span of 48 hours. I honestly won't be returning. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my pc. The second time I came in was to grab a mother board. One of the sales people told me "oh yeah this one will support an intel i7 7700!" I took it home and opened it and noticed that it's the wrong size. It's made for a 12th gen cpu. So today I brought it back, some of the pins were bent and then they tried to refuse a refund. Luckily one of the managers were cool enough to understand that I had literally bought it the night prior and that's how the defective motherboard came. But honestly the reason for my negative review is this. Upon my 3rd and final visit today, I first talked to the tech in the back and explained my issue. He simply stated "There's no way we can switch this out with a motherboard that's compatible. We only do 12th gen. I suggest you look somewhere else." I also asked him if there any resources/websites that I could look at to fix this issue, and he cut me off with "No. Go somewhere else." His tone could have been more customer focused, but I didn't appreciate him basically telling me to leave the store for an issue that one of his people caused. The other issue was the cashier who wanted to deny me a refund for said wrong and faulty product. Again luckily they had a cool manager that understood. I honestly won't be returning here. I was looking for a monitor for my home office and could not find one at any of the major chains. Then a google search led me here and I saw they had affordable monitors on their website. I went to the store instead hoping I could get one that was in stock. The sales associate was super helpful and showed me an item in my price range. I went back later that day because I needed a mouse and HDMI cable and, again, the customer service was great. The sales associates must have picked up my confusion and were eager to help. I went to this Micro Center about two weeks ago when my MacBook Air would not turn on. They initially were helpful and kindly answered my questions - which made it clear that I am a computer novice - but nonetheless they were helpful. They had my computer for four or five days and then when I texted them, they said that my computer had "water damage" (which was suspicious because I haven't spilt anything on it) and it would cost around $600 to repair. Then two minutes later they texted back and said that it would actually be around $850 because there was another broken piece. I collected my computer because at that point I could get a new computer for that price. A coworker of mind pointed me to another company (Rossmann Repair Group) where I spoke to a very helpful person on the phone and they assured me that they could fix it for $350 or less. They also said that the part that caused the Micro Center price to jump is really only about $25. They did and my computer works great. They even covered shipping it back to me. TL;DR: don't go to this Micro Center because they will rip you off if you appear to have very little knowledge of computers. Mail your computer to Rossmann Repair Group instead. read more

This is my review for them based on the fact that they are an authorized apple repair center. I scheduled an appointment online with apple and they had some availability sooner than the Genius Bar in Towson. My MacBook suddenly wouldn't turn on and it is only a year old so I needed someone to take a look at it. Went in and similar to another review, the tech said it looks like it might have water damage. He pointed to some of my greasy keyboard keys. Sorry, I eat and type but certainly didn't spill water on it. He tried a different plug to charge it. Tried to do a reset. Gave up and said it would be $650 to fix it by replacing some part inside. I was shocked. Saddened and shocked that my new computer was apparently broken and I'd have to spend even more money on it. I took it home and thought I'd get a second opinion from Apple themselves before shelling out the money. Took it to apple a few days later. The apple tech takes it in the back and brings it back out ten minutes later and it turns on and works just fine. All she had to do remove the battery and put it back in and do a hard reset. She said the computer installed an update and must have glitched in the middle of the update causing it to turn off. She ran a diagnostic on it and said the computer and battery are working fine with no issues. I was so relieved and thankful. Bottom line, if you need assistance with an apple product, just take it to the Towson Genius Bar. This place doesn't know what it's doing, doesn't bother to try and just wants your money to repair what isn't broken. read more

I came here on Monday to pick up a new computer that was ready after I ordered it in less than an hour. I was immediately helped, paid for my computer and left. When I got home and opened the box I realized the computer was Much Too Big! OMG, this laptop was 17-1/2 inches and about 10 pounds-- I felt like it was crushing my lap! I brought back the new computer the very next day and was able to return it with my receipt. A nice salesperson helped me select a more suitable replacement from the display machines. I love my new computer! The only downside: you will pay more at Microcenter but I think it is worth it for the seamless customer service and for not having to endure going to Best Buy. Traveled to Maryland for work and I forgot to pack my laptop power cord. What can you do when you have to work the rest of the week and you have maybe 2 hours of battery life left. First thought go to a big box store like Best Buy but they did not have a power cord that would fit. The guys at Best Buy did me a solid and said head to MicroCenter it is 10-15 minutes away. Back in the car I go and make my way up 695 which is no picnic. Get to the store and this place is just one huge computer store. I cannot believe they do not have a part that anyone could need. They directed me to the aisle I needed and said they would have someone meet me there to assist me and do you know what, that's exactly what they did. The salesperson listened to what I had to say and what I needed. He had a couple of solutions and explained them to me and then we took the one we agreed on and made sure it would work.
