I called in here just to ask for directions for a road, as I got a little lost. (Although I know…read moreBirmingham very well, just not all the roads). They are very friendly in here, and I could have called into one of the shops or bars next door, but I was glad I visited. They have good visitor information on display and the reception area is very welcoming. From the outside, the architecture and design of this building is very inspiring, a traditional and classy look, with a nice clock on the top. I didn't feel intimidated or anything like that, as you can when you visit these establishments. A friendly service, I just hope I never have to go back for anything else.

I promise you, we're not a bad bunch, but my housemates have had fairly frequent contact with the local cops from this station. First of all my housemate had to visit this police station to report the violent conduct of an acquaintance. Then our house was burgled. Then my housemate witnessed a car being broken into. Standard stuff, but each and every time the reports were taken seriously by the local police who visited our house on every occasion. They were always quick to respond and seemed keen to record as many details as possible, unlike police I have encountered in other (probably more crime-ridden) areas of the city and country. The local police have also been known to knock on every door down our street to give residents the chance to raise any issues they have, they frequently post us letters telling us be careful as our area has been targeted by burglars and they put up signs alerting people that their cars are likely to be broken into if they leave them on the street. And M21 is supposed to be one of the 'good' Manchester postcodes! All in all, top marks to the cops of Chorlton!

Reported racially agrivated harrasment, what a regret- I was punished more than the offender…read more It took them 5 days to finally come, that promising to come every day with us taking time off becaus we believed they would. In teh end they didnt even arrest the offender. I complained but the sergeant who came to my house dismissed 90% of what I complained about and only took 1 minor point on board and would speak over me and read other things while i was talking to you trying to ignore me even when I told him! Then for several month they said as if the colleague who is responsible is off sick, which i heard before btw and never got back to me on any progress. Basically I was punished even more through the complaind process having to take dismissive rude sergeant at my house for which i took time off again my advice: do not let them come to your house when you complain! their aim is to minimise and dismiss the rest persuating you teh rest is not important and they visibly ignore you its like being punished more. Never accept what they call "local resolution". I
I have to say that I'm really impressed by the Merseyside Police in general…read more When I first moved to England a little under two years ago, I often had trouble finding my way around Liverpool, and I discovered very quickly that the Merseyside police are very friendly and helpful. The officers on foot patrol around the city centre never hesitate to offer directions or assistance if you need something. On several occasions I have witnessed minor incidents, or incidents-about-to-happen, and was impressed by the way the police dealt with offenders calmly and carefully. Yes, I'm a people watcher, particularly if the people are in uniform. I also know two policemen here personally, and I know they have impeccable standards and always uphold the law. Sometimes people are concerned about police being unhelpful, discourteous, or even corrupt. I want to assure you that the police in Liverpool are none of these, and if you ever have a problem while walking around the city, whether it be as major as the need to report a crime or as minor as the need to use a toilet, they are always willing to offer help.

The Selby Police station moved from New Lane where the court houses are now to their new building about twenty years ago in the mid eighties. The building is a modern building with a smallish reception area for you to report any issues that you may have. Due to recent cut backs the Selby police station now closes at tea time. This is not popular with Selby residents who feel a large market town needs the security of a 24 hours service. In addition if people are arrested at night they are taken to York Police station. If you need to call the police station during the day you are automatically directed to the York Police station, where you would have to then ask to transfer you to Selby.
