For the record: I did not stay in the hotel. I arranged…read morefor a floating cabin that was located within a few feet of their parking lot. The arrangements for the floating cabins are made through the office at the Hampton Inn. GREAT! DEAL! SO! FUN! We rented one cabin for $110 and stayed the entire weekend. Inside the cabin was a couch that turned into a double sized bed, a very cozy bedroom with a queen sized bed, a little fireplace, a very small bathroom, and a small deck area. To the side were giant unused boat parking areas where we set up our BBQ grill and had a wonderful time fishing, swimming, sun bathing, grilling, and enjoying some brew. There is a refrigerator, stove, coffee pot, and as guests in the cabin we were allowed to utilize the pool and the complimentary breakfast at the Hampton Inn, which was within walking distance. My ONLY complaint was that while swimming in the lake, it was impossible to get back up onto our deck. My husband and our friend was yanking on me until my arms hurt. Finally I swam over to the covered boat parking area, found a boat with their ladder down, used that to get on the ramp and walked back over to our cabin. I will DEFINITELY visit again, but take a little rope or pool ladder with me to get back up to the cabin without needing the ladder of an unsuspecting boat owner. Or a floatie that I can stand on. I'm not sure. It's only a 2 or 3 foot drop, but almost impossible (for me) to get back up out of the water with no footing and nothing to grab onto other than the flat floating dock. Again: the pool is open to cabin renters and it is a very short walk up the hill. ALSO NOTEWORTHY: the view is astonishing! It's a very pretty lake and not overcrowded at all. Be sure to take your own food, I didn't see anything other than an oyster house and fast food in the area.

This hotel, its staff, and Hilton Corporate are useless and horrible. The hotel has so many things…read morebroken that it should not still be operating. It also falsely advertises amenities that do not exist and 100% guarantees that are not honored. This review explains these issues, with photos and screenshots attached. Upon check-in, the room itself seemed clean and updated. Then I went into the bathroom. The shower was disgusting, with the white sealant chipped and peeling leaving black spots and mildew, and the base of the tub stained dirty. Everything else was so much worse that the shower was ultimately forgotten for photos for this review. After check-in, we moved our vehicle from the entrance to rear parking. As we went back in, we noticed that the pool was broken. This property is advertised as having a heated outdoor pool. I complained via text, and staff responded "I'm sorry due to renovations the pool is out of service until Memorial day." Staff later said that the pool is simply closed over winter until Memorial Day. Both answers are unacceptable, given that the property is advertised with a heated outdoor pool listed as an amenity - and one that we were expecting to use. A picture of the pool is attached to the review as Figure 5. Screenshots of the website for this property showing the promised amenities are attached as Figure 1 and 2. During check-in, we noticed that one elevator was completely down (see figures 6 and 7). That wasn't a concern initially, because there was still one working elevator - we thought. The second night of our stay, upon coming back to the hotel, we found the other elevator also broken. In case the property tries to claim that elevators are not guaranteed, a screenshot of the website highlighting elevators is attached as Figure 3. I again texted the front desk, and they admitted to the problem, as well as Elaina previously lying about why the pool is out of service. So, we took the stairs. This is fine once or twice, except the stairwell smelled so badly of mildew that I questioned the safety of staying in the building. When you can SMELL mold, existing in the space is unhealthy. On the third day, we thought the elevator was broken again. Pushing the button on the first floor to call the elevator did nothing. We took the rancid-smelling stairs again. It turned out that only the light on the button was broken, but given the issues from the night before where the entire elevator was broken, how would anybody know that? On the fourth day, the hot water was out. I sent another text, which went unanswered. We wanted to shower before leaving the hotel but were unable to do so. On our way out of the hotel, we stopped by the front desk to inform them and ask for compensation. At this point, staff demanded that we check out a day early and vacate the premises. As we were packing, I called Hilton customer service. 56 minutes on the phone with no help from the call center. The agent I spoke with tried to make it seem like a benefit that we weren't being charged for late checkout, but we did not checkout willingly, so this is further absurdity and absolute blame-shifting gaslighting. As we were leaving the room, we encountered people just checking in. We asked them if they had hot water and they did not. They were not notified that the hot water was out, either. The hotel still checked them in like everything was fine. I thought Hilton has brand standards - and this hotel fails many important ones. The Hilton website has several things on it for this property that are falsely advertised by Hilton directly. Aside from the "heated outdoor pool", there are two more things that are listed on the website that don't even exist: Tennis and a "Private Marina". We did not intend to play tennis, but there are no tennis courts as advertised. There is also no "Private Marina" as advertised. Again, see Figures 1 and 2. These amenities listings and "100% Hampton Guarantee" (Figure 4) that was not honored point to intentional lies by Hilton directly (due to the website as mentioned above) and the property. The fact that Hilton and the property think this amount of lying is acceptable is incomprehensible to me. I made the reservation on April 13, 2026, for a stay from April 17, 2026 through April 21, 2026. Surely, on April 13, 2026, the hotel (and Hilton directly) knew that the pool was non-operational, yet all parties chose not to update the website. One of these issues is bad enough, but all of them together are beyond unacceptable. Staff (at the hotel, and in the call center) offered nothing but hostility, excuses, and lies. This property and my call with Hilton support completely tarnish the Hilton reputation. It is over a month after my stay and the website still incorrectly advertises the non-existent amenities and 100% guarantee. The property did not offer me monetary compensation, and neither did Hilton customer service. I had to dispute the charges with my credit card company.

We'd debated on the Tiny Cottage or TreeHouse and thankfully for 2 people, the TreeHouse was most appropriate for space. Check in was contactless and pretty easy based on the instructions provided by email. Golf carts and/or ATVs are provided for you to get around the property which was pretty cool. The TreeHouse was stored with most of your household basic needs. The only thing we needed inside that wasn't available was a cheese grater and colander for a recipe. However, we were able to improvise. There is a store on property which is accessible 24 hours. We were under the impression that the store carried eggs from seeing them on several TicTok videos, but that was not case during our stay. There were none in sight. Additionally, the store's payment kiosk was out of order so we were unable to purchase anything additional. This would've been nice to know at the time of booking. We ended up having to leave the property and head to the nearest Dollar General & Foodland for a few extras which was a short distance down the street. When returning from Foodland, we came across the manager who happened to be on the property. She was nice. The property's amenities were nice. We really enjoyed the main firepit and the people we met. Blankets were provided in a nearby bin. We didn't get to enjoy all of the amenities as the temps dropped significantly during our stay and a freeze warning was in affect. All in all, it was cozy, quiet and a peaceful retreat (except for the acorns hitting the top of the treehouse). It should be noted that the stairs are short and steep, getting to and from the bedroom (upstairs) and bathroom (downstairs). My friend slipped a little while going downstairs to the bathroom in the middle of the night, but she was fine and didn't hurt herself.

Someone on the hotel staff had the ingenious stroke of inspiration to prop my hotel door open. Let me reiterate. After "cleaning", my room door had been propped open. Keep in mind, this door is the single barrier keeping anyone (Econolodge guest or not) from simply walking in to my room. Not only was this extremely annoying, this issue in my mind is a complete safety concern/issue. (Not to mention the insets, mosquitoes, and flies with whom I now had to share my room.) When I checked in, there were also large puddles of water standing in the room. From the doorway to the center of the room. (And on the bizarre, the peep hole in my door had been stuffed with paper tissues. Not an issue that effected my stay, but an extremely random detail). I alerted the front desk to these issues immediately upon check in. Their response to the propped door and water was "Is your room clean? Then you have nothing to worry about. Sometimes the cleaning staff does that". I understand this isn't the Four Seasons, but a working air conditioner would also have been appreciated since my room had be thoroughly "aired out". (In the summer, in Alabama, you can imagine it's rather warm outdoors.) A warmth my room never recovered from during the remainder of my stay. From blood on the sheets, to hair in the restroom, to a bed that felt positively like sleeping on bamboo, I wouldn't want a repeat of this experience nor would I recommend a friend stay here. I understand everyone has bad days, but unfortunately this will be a lasting impression.
