The first and last time we used the childcare my husband and I had a negative experience. Upon dropping off the kids we were given the break down of the rules. One rule seemed weird to us, stating regardless of us all being on the same account, consent would be needed about who can pick up and drop off the children each time (if I dropped them off he wouldn't be allowed to pick them up if he finish first). If this is a safety procedure we respect that just never experienced this before. Mainly the bad review was because of the experience my children had during this visit. They were restricted to play with the toys you all have. Dance time the kids were informed they had to stay on the colorful mat (small area rug) and was not allowed to get off because they didn't want the kids to make a mess. My children ages: 1, 4, 5 and 8. The 8 year old mentioned to me he didn't want to dance but was instructed he had to. The 4 and 5 year old spent most of the time trying to keep their 1 year old brother confined to a small colorful mat. Not sure how long this went on for during our hour workout but the kids mentioned 3-4 songs. It would have been nice for the kids to have access to the toys and to freely play with them until pick up, instead of the workers worrying about them making a mess. Also my most recent visit when I was using the incline treadmill I had an experience with the custodial member (wearing dark blue shirt, hispanic lady, black long hair in a pony tail). Although she was friendly she was mopping the floors in between the treadmills while in use by people. She spent a couple of minutes cleaning under the machine that I was using since I had the incline maxed- all the way up. She was nice and made conversation that the incline was helping her get a deep cleaning. I decided to get off and she was like "no don't put it down", proceeded to clean. I am pretty sure she could have completed a deep cleaning under the treadmills when they are not in use. This type of distraction could have caused an injury especially on treadmills . Hopefully the workers at this location can be more mindful about this in the future. Thanks for reading my concerns. First of all I love the amount of equipment they have in the exercise area, and I love the vast indoor pool. I also love that they have a walking/running trail behind their facility with what is probably a man-made lake. The major thing I wish I could change is that when I first started at a YMCA when I was a kid it was a place for anybody and everybody to do some kind of sport or club. Here they don't have very many activities for teenagers. They do have something that a wonderful man named Josh does every so often that my teenager loves attending.. movie night, dodgeball night, pizza night, laser tag night, and so on. But it's hard when you have a 16-year-old that would like to do say a weekly summer soccer camp or maybe participate in some kind of swimming, but the cut off ages are like.. twelve. One of my kids off to participate in basketball but he's past the age limit to join for a summer camp. Like I said back in my day it didn't matter how old you were.. there was no age limit because they wanted people to be off the Nintendo games, away from the television, and away from any kind of trouble they could cause an inside doing something productive and positive. I think we're really stuck with me the most was three days ago while I was in there I heard a mother trying to sign up her sign for one of the summer sports camps but they told him he was too old to do the soccer one and it looks like it really bummed him out. I mean I know he can't go into a younger age group, but he shouldn't have to NOT be able to participate in a sport he wants to do because they have a age cut off. I feel like maybe if they get a few more people in there too work it maybe a 17-year-old can play soccer in a group with other late teens. And this has nothing to do with the Teen Nights! My daughters and son love that they at least have that! read more

What can I say. It's the Y. Nothing special but there is a part to this YMCA that is unknown to most. Did you know there is a lake and a wooded running trail and field in the back ! GREAT place to run with your dog or just romping around with your best buddy. There is also a picnics shelter. All within the safe YMCA environment. The running trails are excellent and not to large or small. Bigger than the indoor track which is just a loop. Plus you do not need to have your YMCA membership card to check it out. It's outside. This review is for Camp Redfeather. It's dirty. Wear shoes because the goose poop is everywhere. But also, there was trash everywhere, too. The kids play in the "backyard" which is a dirt area. Dirt. Just dirt. The lake is filthy. They need to clean it. There are okay areas where they can practice archery or BB guns, do crafts, or observe the dirty lake from the "dock". But, all in all, I was not impressed. I will say that the staff of kids and adults are all very friendly and kind. I really liked them all. I wish I would have taken my kid to Camp Thunderbird. That place was gorgeous. And clean. Oh well. Maybe next year. read more

We have been members for about a month now and could not be happier. We should have joined sooner. Everyone is very friendly and the staff will answer your questions about any machines or any questions you may have. I find the facility to be clean and well maintained. I never have a problem getting access to treadmill or bikes and we typically go about 6pm on the weekdays and the mornings on the weekend. There is plenty of parking and I have yet to make it to the walking trails behind the building but am looking forward to checking that out. My wife enjoys the pool classes and they seem to offer them quite often. read more

I love this YMCA. Its like family. Watched my kids grow up and cared about our family during hard times. Equipment and machines everywhere. No shortage of variations of exercises if someone was using equipment. Love the no coed sauna. I do wish they didn't close for the holidays. read more

I was here for a pilates certification event. The two parking lots are huge and the staff was very friendly because I obviously looked like I had no idea where to go. Even the members welcomed me. I saw they had a decently sized basketball court and people were playing, plus they had an indoor track up above it. Locker room and restrooms were clean, and the overall place looked taken care of. Since I wasn't there to use any of the weightlifting equipment, I can't speak on their quality. I was in the downstairs aerobics room and it was stacked with all sorts of equipment. I'm not currently looking into a YMCA membership, but I would consider this place in the future. read more

There was a time that this was the spot for me to go and workout, but fortunately, the American Family Fitness in Chester open, and I was able to leave this facility. The YMCA is in need of a major updating. The minute you enter the building, it has a very rank odor. Worst of all, the staff in the childcare area, at the time, were extremely unfriendly, and did not want to be there. It was plainly obvious. I am not sure if the current staff is the same staff from a couple years back, but parents, pay attention to the staff, and make sure that your kids are being treated with kindness. Unfortunately, this was not the case for me, and was one of the leading reasons why I left. read more

Just signed up for this YMCA and cancelled my planet fitness membership for a more closer gym to my house. Honestly some days I second guess my decision to do that because the YMCA is mostly packed, hours aren't as flexible, there isn't as much diversity in machines, and it's pretty dirty. The rest rooms and locker rooms look like they aren't taken care of and not to mention the people that go here seem to lack respect for the property too by not helping it be clean, leaving weights all around, and not wiping down machines after use. There's also a weird odor because it's not as ventilated. The pool is mostly packed due to all the children classes, so it's hard to get a good swim in unless you avoid certain hours. If you don't mind the crowded atmosphere or cleanliness, it's a not a bad place at all. But just remember if you're the type that is used to the planet fitness atmosphere, it's a huge change. I personally can deal with it. It's closer to home, I still get my work out done, so it serves its purpose. read more

This place is terrible. They couldn't care less about their members. A group of 40 men have been playing basketball every Friday morning for 20 years and we've had the gym reserved for this purpose. When school is canceled and 5 random kids show up, they take away the gym and make 30 men sit around. You can't depend on the people at this facility to keep their promises. By its location and appealing pond, you would think this facility would be a professional, welcoming place, but this is not the case. When you enter the pool, you are continuously patrolled by the lifeguards as if they are vultures. Common pool activity will not be tolerated here. You will be pestered for, holding your breath, swimming in any method the current lifeguard doesn't like, and even speaking. Yes, you will be lectured by a lifeguard simply for speaking a few words in this god forsaken pool. The pool is also non-chlorinated I have found, which I'm sure is not up to standard for the amount of people who traffic this pool. It is festering with disease. Be warned, you will be asked to leave the open swim for something as small as a one on one person swimming lesson/class, then, once you are in a lap swim lane, you will be criticized for your method of swimming, breath timing, and even pausing to catch your breath. Save yourself the trouble, and go to ANY other swimming facility in the area. read more

This place is a dump. if you fall into their pool ( which they have had multiple injuries at before because it's slippery) 1. The "lifeguard does nothing to stop u from drowning, 2. They are not able to be sued because of their contract 3. Multiple people have been hurt over the years yet they refuse to fix the issue 4. When the injury requires surgery the manager refuses to use their health insurance to pay for it. Not to mention it's disgusting, dirty, and still stuck in 1970. Run far far far away read more

The staff there are very friendly, especially Karen Lewis, the membership coordinator. The place its self is sort of small but everyone knows your name which makes it a more personal place to be which I like when I go out. read more
