After my buddy raved about VUE for the ambience, food, drink and nice views of Worcester, I decided to check the place out for myself. I made an online reservation and headed over around 7:15 pm on a Saturday night. I headed inside the tall glass building and took the elevator up to the 24th floor. Once there, I checked in and headed for an open high top table near the full service cocktail bar and in front of the live jazz band, overlooking the sunsetting sky and Worcester views from the glass windows. This place definitely has that chill vibe of Worcester's "Top of the Hub" if y'all familiar with the former restaurant & bar on the top level of the Pru in Boston. One of the bartenders was my server. I already knew what I wanted and ordered the Bastirma Salumi Plate ($15 plus tax) and Carrot Lentil Dip ($13 plus tax) and a glass of still water. My food came out 20 minutes later, Bastirma plate first, followed by the Carrot Lentil Dip plate. The Bastirma small plate had 3 thick soft slices of focaccia bread, thin sliced dried beef sirloin, Türkiye, giardiniera, pickled veggies, dijon mustard, and 2 stuffed grape leaves. The Carrot Lentil Dip plate was huge which had a bowl of chilled pureed carrot Lentil dip with fresh garlic, waffle potato chips, thin pita crisps, red peppers, orange peppers, yellow peppers, celery sticks, carrot sticks, cucumber sticks.. I barely finished everything myself and did not save room for dessert and got the check which was $29.96 with tax and before tip. My family (in-laws) have been members for a very long time and thus I have eaten here many many times over the years. The building is completely unassuming from the exterior but once you walk in to the main parlor the Worcester Club's interior is a stately example of how fine Victorian architecture was back in the day. We had my wife's 40th birthday here over the weekend and there were 9 of us. Of course, we had our own private dining room which is pretty standard for group of that size and larger. The food is excellent, but being not overly hungry I had a simple salad and winter vegetable and spinach risotto. However, there were little necks, oysters, shrimp and other apps being devoured at the table. Dinner plates varied from lamb to sirloin to seafood specials. They even made an off menu plate for my 5 year old. Everything was plated well and appreciated for what it was. Thus, it was rented out for professional wrestling matches, roller skating, basketball, dance lessons, 4-H club meetings, etc. Neglect took a serious toll on the health of the Hall, but, when the decision was finally forced to tear it down or to revitalize it, the entire city rallied, raising $5 million to restore the Hall. The Hall is rented out for many purposes, and by many organizations. On this particular Saturday evening, Mechanics Hall was in use by Music Worcester (https://www.musicworcester.org), featuring a performance by Chanticleer. Chanticleer was founded in 1978 and is renowned as "an orchestra of voices" for the seamless blend of its twelve male voices ranging from countertenor to bass and its original interpretations of vocal literature, from Renaissance to jazz, to gospel and new music. It was a great performance in a majestic venue.

The director of sales, Michelle was a very pleasant woman who worked with my budget and was so accommodating. The day of the event I met the event coordinator who swore would help my event run smoothly. I cannot remember her name, but I will never forget her. Around 6 o'clock this woman asked me to kick my guests out. Our contract said the event would last until 6pm with the option to extend an hour. Naturally, I asked her if we could extend the event the extra hour. She said that I could not and a time extension has to be planned weeks in advance. What? How would I know weeks ahead of time if my guest would like to stay longer? I have never heard of this before. She advised me that I should refer to the contract, which does not mention anything about extending the time. After this conversation, I went to the private room to breastfeed my daughter. This woman barged in the room and continued to yell at me for guests not leaving. I was harassed by her while exposed and trying to privately feed my child. Who does that? I was in shock! Lastly, one of my guests got severe food poisoning from the fish and had to be hospitalized. I will never host an event here again and neither will any of my guests.
