We visited DCU Center for an RV show in the middle of the week. The facility was clean and there was lots of security which was nice I suppose. The event we went to didn't encompass the entire venue, so only a couple of doors were open. Their website let us know which doors would be unlocked. During our visit it had snowed previously and the walkways and steps around the building were not yet shoveled. At all. Walking down snow covered stairs does not feel safe and there was no other way to get to the door we needed to enter. By the time we left the event, there were two people outside shoveling those stairs. So they did get to them. Parking is paid, either on-street or in one of the nearby parking structures. Large, gender specific bathrooms were by the exit. read more

I've been to a couple of concerts here and it's a decent venue. Most of the seats are good, but I would definitely avoid the upper rows in the 200's since the view is blocked by the overhang of the 300 level. Employees are friendly and polite. Lines for bathrooms are very long - they definitely need more women's rooms. Food is typical for arenas, but the lines can be long. The DCU center is clean, and the seats are comfortable with cup holders. It's easier to get here than to Boston, and I've even been lucky enough to find free street parking. read more

Let's be honest this place needs a makeover! The halls are narrow and the flow and direction from outside is sad at best. But if the event you are going is only in Worcester then this is your place. The parking well, just don't go to the Mercantile Garage or plan on a 2-3 hour wait to get out of the parking, yea it's that bad. Came here for the Silver Scream Con. Talk about celebrity galore....Matthew Lillard, John Kassir aka the Cryptkeeper, Kane Hodder and so many more There was a lot of vendors, selling horror, theme items, and keepsakes. Even horror tattoos. Yes a tattoo studio at this event! Perfect for the spooky and macabre artwork! I definitely know for a next event to get there hours early. The line from Matthew Lillard was the longest, hours for waiting and honestly wasn't worth it. Although it was a chance to meet a celebrity, I will be better prepared for next time read more

I have seen 4 musical artists perform here in the last month, the acoustics inside are terrible. There is nothing to absorb any sound, the reverb is out of control. If you don't know the song ahead of time, you cannot make out a word. Needs major attention before booking any musical guests read more

We came here for an Iron Maiden concert this was our second time seeing them here and it did not disappoint not only is Iron Maiden one of the best bands ever but this venue is great for concerts. We were in section 109 row A and the view was incredible we had a side view but we were so close to the stage we could really see everything and it was so incredible. The crew working were incredible we had the VIP pass and they helped us with everything it was such and incredible night and I am looking forward to seeing another show here! read more

This was my first experience here and unfortunately it wasn't what I was hoping for. Tran-Siberian Orchestra was playing. We got seats at section 233. I reviewed the listings in both Seat Geek as well as Ticketmaster and neither of these mentioned one thing about an obstructed view. After I was already there, and seated did we realize the reality. These were $100 tickets with a view that I couldn't believe would be acceptable for even $15. More than half was obstructed by the 3rd floor and on top of that you could WHISPER to the person next to you and hear each other with ease. You guys couldn't even put a set of speakers up there to at least provide some sort of concert experience? We drove 2 hours to get there and I brought a party of 7. I've been to over 50 venues and more than 100 concerts. This is by far the worst seating I've ever seen ever... anywhere. The band was awesome as usual, but never again will I make the trip to DCU. read more

This place is so small but I kind of prefer it that way. You're close to the stage no matter where you sit. It's also easy to navigate around. We went for Disney on Ice. Man do they know how to get you with the prices of the items to purchase. They were charging 35 for a pic with a fake Ariel. Just outrageous demands for such cheap items. The show itself was ok. The best part was the Frozen piece of it. The back up skaters were doing better than the main characters. Take in consideration this is an adults perspective so probably not the one to consider when going to something like Disney on Ice. read more

For our cheer event the bathrooms were disgusting. Toilets that don't flush. There's a bunch of people when you walk in making sure you don't bring in outside food or drinks but no staff cleaning. We waited in 15 minute lines for unhealthy, gross food only to be told registers were down. What a joke. Do better DCU. read more

Recently visited DCU for the Big Gig Tour - Breaking Benjamin, Falling in Reverse, The Pretty Reckless, Beartooth, and Dorothy. Excellent show and the place was packed. Had a great time. Ushers, security, folks serving beer were all very accommodating. I've been to several DCU hosted shows before and many at the Centrum over the years. If you read reviews of DCU you'd think it was a house of horrors but...most are old (3+ years) reviews and people complaining about things out of DCU control (price of merchandise, ticket pricing and refunds are determined by the artists!) Never go to a large venue and expect good food or low beverage prices - if you do, that's on you. Focus on why you came - to see a show. Despite the place being packed, the crowd was well behaved and bathroom/beer lines moved along. read more

Great place and a lot of history in the building! It's a nice size arena with plenty of concessions and etc. Watching the Railers here is great, monster jam here is actually pretty good too! and I love concerts at this place! Back in the 80s and 90s this was the place for concerts! Again still is great for concerts! 2/4/23 However I was recently at a Railers game and they changed something with the sound system. The amplifiers or processors or something because it does not sound as great as it use to! You can't even make out what their saying. It just sounds like ear piercing noise. However IT IS NOT THE SPEAKERS!!! So before you all go thinking "it must be the speakers" it's not!!! So don't go replacing those like every other idiot does. They did that at Fitton Field down the street and now their new system sounds like ass. What you have to do is get new amplifiers that can support the proper power those speakers require (I recommend the legendary Crown XLS Drivecore series of amps) and most importantly you need an equalizer to tune the speakers for the space!!! (I would recommend the Behringer Ultragraph Pro 31 band EQ) VERY good EQ. And finally to fine tune the sound even more, get a sonic maximizer. (I recommend the BBE 882i Sonic Maximizer). Finally if any of the speaker drivers in the physical speakers themselves are blown out, don't replace the entire thing, replace the 1 blown driver. It doesn't sound like anything is blown out, again this just sounds like a lack of power, and EQ issue but this was worth mentioning. If you guys do that, that sound system will sound just as good if not BETTER than it did 15-20 years ago with the original speakers!!! If you want me to come out and give you guys a quote for everything I just said reach out to me! read more

I recently attended the 3pm Trans Siberian Orchestra show on Nov 25 and arrived 15 minutes after the doors opened and we stood in line which extended down the block and around the back of the building!! It took 45 minutes to get through the one set of doors that were open. I have not encountered this at any other venue and I go to a lot of shows. By the time i found my seat in the dark with the assistance of the usher, i missed 40 minutes the show!!!! This venue really needs to get their act together. Very disappointing. The staff here are just so unhelpful. Intentionally vague. I came for a skating competition. It's single digits outside. Every single door is locked. Finally box office door is open. I walk in and ask where the skating entrance is. I'm told "Door 14". I ask where "Door 14" is. I just get a pointed finger "That way" When it's time to leave - I ask an employee if there is an exit closer to the garage on Major Taylor. I got directions. But when I got to that door, the idiot would not let me out since I wasn't wearing my credentials. Seriously - he wouldn't let me out of the building since I couldn't prove that I was actually allowed in the building. After all that, the ice was bad. I know this is more of a hockey arena (as evidenced by the urinals every where!) but seriously - learn to make ice! read more

They have recently done some renovations to the inside hall areas. They have tried to maybe upscale the place a little bit and added in a bar/appetizer area with bar tables. This place is just average looking but a great place to see a show. Usually most seats are good seats and it is so much easier to get here than going into Boston! read more

I was very pleased to be taking my two young sons to the Marvel Universe Live show on August 27, 2015. Unfortunately, I have to report that I was very disappointed with the service I received in the DCU Center Ticket Box Office. After waiting in a lengthy line with two anxious boys, I really would have appreciated a little courtesy. But I was in for quite a rude awakening. In my hand I held a coupon (SEE ATTACHED 1) stating that I would "SAVE $10 ON OPENING NIGHT TICKETS! GOOD ONLY Thu. AUG. 27 at 7:00pm". I presented the coupon and was told by the clerk that, "This is not a coupon, it's just a promo." I pointed to the text on both sides of the coupon, showing the large bold font, clearing reading "SAVE $10 ON OPENING NIGHT TICKETS!" I asked the clerk if it was Thursday, August 27, Opening Night. He confirmed. I asked him how I can redeem the written offer as advertised on the coupon. He repeated that I was not holding a coupon. I asked him if I didn't meet some sort of condition or restriction was being applied. He only repeated that I didn't have a coupon. Although I was really annoyed, I realized that I was holding up a long line of anxious children, including two of my own. I did not feel like arguing or further delaying the line of folks behind me. I took out my wallet and asked for the price of a ticket. The clerk said $21. I presented my employment badge (which entitles me to 10% off at the DCU box office) and I mentioned the discount to the clerk. The clerk became visibly annoyed and rolled his eyes. He said, "The only discounts available are with vouchers." I held the coupon back up to the window and said, "I'm holding the voucher, it says $10 off!" The clerk stepped back away from the window and came back with another clerk, whom I assumed was a supervisor. He was speaking to her from behind the glass and appeared to be explaining my issue with her. The supervisor then stepped up to my clerk's computer/register and started to type something. Without looking at me or addressing me in any way what so ever, she then turns around and the clerk completes the transaction. He took my debit card from the slot beneath the soundproof plexiglass and hands me the receipt to sign. The receipt said $21.00. That was the full, regular advertised price of the ticket (SEE ATTACHED 2). The DCU Center is guilty of false advertising, very poor customer service and dishonoring their discount agreement with [The company I work for]. The DCU Center box office is guilty of negligent misrepresentation, breach of contract, breach of good faith and fair dealing and unfair competition. As such, DCU Center has been unjustly enriched as a result of this wrongful conduct. I hope to never do business with the DCU Center again. I wonder if there are others out there that experienced similar unethical marketing practices by the DCU Center? Class action suit anyone??? read more

The DCU center staff are wildly unprofessional. We love going to sporting events and are die hard fans but the DCU staff continuously ruin the experience. They have poor communication skills and are verbally abusive towards patrons, constantly trying "flex" what little authority they can cling to. On several occasions they have put their hands on patrons, not just adults but also children rather than verbally communicate with them regarding DCU center rules. They also change what "rules" are put in place depending on the week which they then use to go after patrons. Without clear guidelines of what is and is not acceptable at this venue it makes it very difficult for fans/patrons to be able to enjoy an event without the fear of being attacked. If it weren't for our team and how much we love and support them we would NEVER step foot in the DCU center. 10/10 would not recommend. Negligent/abusive staff. read more

I have been to the DCU Center (Centrum) now for many events over the years, to Madonna concerts to conferences. For the concerts, I like the smaller venue, compared to the Boston Garden. The sound acoustics are ok, not great, but again the smaller venue is nice. The conferences, more recently the ADDP conferences, the space was nice but the food and service was awful. A peeve of mine is trying to get inside the place. They have so many doors and 99% of them are locked. You have to walk all the way around the center to find the one and only unlocked door. The are no signs either to point you in the right direction. read more

The DCU Center is a decent venue. . . I have only ever been here for concerts but when I travel out, it is usually worth my time. The large venue has several entrances and while this may divide up large crowds and get people in faster, it has many drawbacks as well. For instance, I had assigned seating for night 1 and general admission for night 2 of a recent Phish show and had some difficulty figuring out what doors I was allowed to enter. After waiting in line, you'd find out you were required to enter a different set of doors, only to have to wait in line again. Wish the entrances were labelled better or more staff directing people to the correct doors. After making your way through ticketing and pat downs, patrons are bombarded with dimly lit hallways circling the inner stadium. Over-priced food/beer stations, poorly designed bathrooms (with entrances on both sides so people have to fight over whose turn it is to enter), and space for band merchandise line the halls as people penguin walk through the small space to get to their destination. The arena is large but at the same time intimate. I've had tickets all over the arena and the only time I was really unhappy was up in the rafters in the 300's level seating. Otherwise, you generally have a decent view of the stage. General admission was bearable as well, the floor is lined with metal railings for people to lean on. . . great for people like me who easily tire while standing up for an entire show. The acoustics here are pretty good, gets a little echo-y towards the back and muted up high. Seating is comfortable, cup holders present. I'm sure I will be back again when entertaining bands make their appearance. Never experienced non-musical events here but would be open to attending them at this location. Parking is a nightmare in downtown, avoid it if you can!!! read more

The DCU center is awful in terms of customer service. The bathroom and beer line is insane. I've been waiting in line for 49 minutes because they are pouring cans into cups instead of just giving you the can. Not to mention how terrible this is for the environment wasting 2 containers on 1 beer. Gillette stadium hosts thousands more and getting beer is quicker and more efficient than this. I would also like to note that the floor was so slippery that I watched multiple people fall down the stairs. Then my friend and myself fell as well. Someone should really be making sure that their guests are not in danger due to wet floors read more

This afternoon I had the pleasure of attending a graduation here at the DCU Center. The center itself was very nice and parking was actually easier than I had anticipated. The facility is well maintained and the bathrooms here were very clean. The only moment of hesitation I had was while riding one of their escalators. A few times the escalator bucked and made a horrible noise but overall everything else was great. The staff was interesting but overall they seem to be polite. In the end the graduation here was well put together and the staff here did a good job of setting up the stage. The seats were comfortable and they did a good job of taking care of the temperature in the room. Overall, this is definitely a place I hope to come back to in the future to either see a concert or watch a game. read more

This review serves for a recent Phish-band concert that was attended: The Staff and Organization were awful. As a customer, you expect organization, politeness, etc... Phish-band fans have their own rep but in general they are friendly and peaceful etc... The little boys checking the tickets were equivalent to high school / frat boys... A little authority and thought they were all that... The one guy I dealt with was a real punk. They haven't done a good job with recruitment & training of these folks at this borderline dump... Inside, was not much better at all... Lines for everything were terrible... I overheard that 10MIL was just spent on renovations... Certainly did not seem that way. The lines for everything was ridiculous. I stopped drinking just so I wouldn't have to wait in the painful lines again.. And finally, the layout internally is also very confusing. Difficult to get around, up and down the sections etc... Markings sucked. Blaahhhh... Never again for a concert, and no, I would not recommend it. read more

A MUST DO! Kiss rocks the DCU Center. I never saw the group Kiss before who were hugely popular in the 70s & still have a huge following today from a younger to an older generation & Everything in between. They really are the true meaning of PERFORMING ARTISTS. Even if their music isn't exactly your cup of tea you have to see them at least once. Then you can appreciate their artistry, visual imagery & their music. They still sound great & the show still tastes fresh today. Their performance included fire, explosions, fireworks, a spectacular light show, high wire act, elevated stages, & snowing confetti just to name a few of their arsenal of tricks in their bag. They kicked off the concert by playing Detroit Rock City. Then they performed Shout it Out Loud. They slowed it down a bit with their classic ballad Beth. You would never think that Kiss is patriotic but they are indeed. They donated $150,000 to the Wounded Warriors to hire our nation's heroes. Then they brought out a Marine, the American Legion & the mayor of Worcester. & presented the giant check. The mayor gave the keys to the city to the group and wants them to come back again. Then Kiss rocked The Star Spangled Banner. They also played some other of their fan favorite songs. They ended the evening with their anthem I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night & Party Every Day. It snowed confetti on everybody. I had so much fun singing along & partying the whole night with everyone. It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget! read more

One star rating only because no stars is not an option. It's a shame that any event happening here is forced to coexist with the most rude, aggressive, unnecessarily combative staff I have ever encountered. In a two day event the staff of the DCU went out of their way to be unpleasant. (not the event staff, they were lovely and doing their best to make up for the vile behavior of the venue employees) The food is atrocious-- extremely overpriced and all of it is precooked and left out to fester all day. This was especially surprising considering their sudden deep concern for the health of attendees and adherence to food safety standards when one guest tried to give away free cookies. It's shocking to me that the entire DCU center, which you may notice is sponsored by a BANK, has only two ATMs (one in the convention center and one in the arena) and could not manage to keep both in working order through the weekend. Bank of America would do well to thank them for all the ATM fees they collected due to DCU center's failure to provide this service. The cleaning staff and food service staff were kind and worked extremely hard, however the management and the supervisory staff seemed bored and needed to hassle attendees and vendors to keep themselves occupied. Whenever a concern or a complaint was raised the DCU staff were quick to blame the vendors, attendees, and event staff for these problems, even if they were obviously a problem caused directly by the DCU center employees. I have never been in a situation where I was so appalled by what is obviously considered acceptable behavior to the DCU center's management team, and blaming paying attendees for your own terrible service is just shameful. The DCU center needs to replace the entire staff or consider a serious retraining, because the behavior they displayed was absolutely disgusting and totally unacceptable. read more

Last weekend = weekend in Bahston (that's how they say it). Last weekend = Nickelback concert (don't judge). Last weekend = rocking all night long (blisters on my feet, ringing in my ears). 2nd stop -- DCU Center Venue: As a trade show location, it's on the small side. Although bonus points for making me smile at the standard purple and white drapes of the booths being set up. As a concert location, it's not huge, but not too small to feel crowded. It's a typical 3-tier, floor, mezzanine, upper, layout. The flow for the building is nice, and with multiple entrances, our floor tickets got us in quick. Downside: we had floor GA, and I'm short, even in heels. Upside: we claimed some seats near the stage and no one came with tickets. Score! Acoustically, it's not the best. There's reverb and dullness, and there were was a quick dissipation of sound. That said, we were sitting close enough to hear it and hear them well. I had an awesome time, and our seats were fantastic. I liked this venue a lot, and if I have the option of seeing another concert here or at MSG, I'm definitely heading back north. Even if the usher popped the beach ball and was an asshole. Food: I didn't have any food at the venue, but I'll tell you this: Damn expensive. $6.50 for a beer?!? This isn't NYC, anything more than 5 would be excessive here. Food looked a little more reasonably priced, but I'd still eat before you go. read more

Its great to have a large concert venue in Worcester and I've been lucky to see many great performers there. The venue isn't perfect.. It could be a bit more modern and upscale inside and the bathroom lines are always horrendous. I would be more of a supporter of the DCU, but the fact that they host the Ringling Circus events which are known for their cruelty to animals makes me reconsider. read more

The DCU Center...I saw Bob Segar there in 87, and Peter Gabriel in his Secret World tour 10 or so years ago...Quick question for these major acts Did you know Boston was 45 minutes due East..No backrows or moats to cross..Just take the Pike I am not ethnocentric, but there really is not much around this place. I like Hampton Inn and Woosta Pizza as much as the next guy, but perhaps a better venue might add to the fan experience These people are just plain disorganized. The lines seem endless and at the same time inexplicable...Whe I pass from this world and enter hell, I think I will end up waiting for a beer at The DCU as eternal punishment Then again, The Almighty cant be that cruel Before I go, this incident still cracks me up...I was waiting in the beer line, and it seemed like it mushroomed into two separate parts. I ended up here for a Foo Fighters concert which was opened by Serj Tankian's solo act (former singer of System of a Down). I had never been to Worcester let alone the DCU center and after a long, annoying commute my friend and I arrived there and walked over to the DCU. It was actually not as bad as it looked from pictures. The place is in good condition and is a sports arena which is a very suitable arena for concerts as well. The acoustics were fine and we all had a blast. The place was nice and spacious and there was no bad seat in the house because the band had 2 stages they could play on and switch from. The security was good and the beer was cold. The only thing is that it's far from Boston and from what I've heard, parking there can be painful unless your a very patient person. read more

For some odd reason, we ended up going to watch a Worcester Sharks game at the DCU center this weekend. Actually, the odd reason was that it was bobble head night and our goal was to get at least one. However, who knew that over 3,000 people would be at the game? Anyways, the Center is nice and spacious and they gave me a student discount with no problem so we got wicked cheap seats. I would suggest that if you go for a game, sit on the long sides, rather than the middle. They got the t-shirts, chance to drive a tricycle on the ice, and the blimp dropping $100 coupons for food above them. The bathrooms seem to be older than the rest of the building, which is odd. A lot of the doors didn't close properly. At the end of the night, I spied a box in one of the rows and grabbed it. Finally, I have a bobble head...even if his neck is broken. read more

I am a fan of the DCU Center. It has actually booked shows that I have really enjoyed. It is also walking distance to Viva Bene where I can get a couple of drinks preshow when the opening band is not someone I care to see. Bathrooms -- Clean in the beginning but always lacking in tp when I hit them that last time before we leave. Floors -- actually tidy -- quick response to cleaning up whatever bodily fluids may make for a slippery walk -- kudos Vendors -- Polite and yet effing expensive! Would I pay $35 for a NIN shirt at Newbury Comics? Hell no! but for some reason after Viva Bene it seems reasonable. Floor staff -- So polite and helpful. I swear it was someones Mom that helped me into the pit Sunday night. How sweet! Lastly it is only a $12 cab ride (one way) from my house to DCU. Good reasons to see a show here: Tickets are reasonable because it's in Worcester and there is less demand. Plenty of nearby street parking. Staff is reasonably friendly and not strict like major Boston venues. However.... There is NOTHING around here. Don;t plan on showing up early for a show and getting something to eat nearby. The only thing open at 7pm on a Wednesday night was UNOs. -1 Star for no drafts. All beers are poured from bottles...and poured slowly at that. Beer line was close to 20 minutes. I could have brewed beer faster. -1 Star for disgusting, overflowing bathrooms. They seem to have some sort of terrible plumbing problems. read more

Took my girlfriend on a date to see Brantley Gilbert. The venue is easy to get to and getting inside doesn't take long. Their concessions are overwhelmed. They really need to put more effort into streamlining service. I was sold VERY warm beer because they "ran out" of cold beer.. 40 minutes before the concert was over I attempted to buy a pretzel and the woman told me they were closing and she couldn't sell one of the 14 pretzels behind her. She couldn't sell them or give them away despite there date with the trash can. This is sad considering I had already spent $80+ on warm beer and snacks... read more

Bought a ticket for the circus at the Box Office. If you pay at the actually DCU center they only add $2 facility fee. Unlike Ticketmaster.com where they add all the fees in at checkout. Compared to Boston, the DCU Center is a breath of fresh air. The security here is not intrusive and threatening, something The TD Garden security is famous for. The set up of a smaller stadium makes it ideal for watching wrestling here, I've never had a bad seat when I have come. Concerts are also a great time with few bad seats in the house. If you have to see something here like a concert or worse a hockey game the only good part is the cheap parking. Other than that you will see some really scary sights meaning the locals that frequent the place and actually some pretty rude inconsiderate people. The place is pretty tiny and no seat is really bad. The big problem I saw was mostly the scary clientele, which looked like they came out of the back woods of Worcester to have that "big night out" with tons of cold Coors light and plastic cups of White Zin. Be mindful of your surroundings leaving the place since some of the parking areas look like they are in the middle of a war zone. read more
