What tickles my fancy about this school is that the graduates come out with marketable skills for jobs! The school also offers job placement! They still can opt for college, of course. I'm hoping my son decides he wants to attend. I'm going to push him a wee bit. The principal seemed stoked and proud of the school and its "products." Oh, they also offer free daily breakfast and free after class help. To me, a big WIN-WIN !!!

The video production program is the program I chose because I had a passion but I chose wrong. The teachers in the program take away the love for video production. They are rude and not kind to the students. Many students decided to drop out of the school or class because of the environment around video production. The teachers choose favorites and are cruel to the students they don't like. They act like children themselves when they are supposed to be professional. (example: making racist jokes, sexual jokes, misogynistic jokes, and crossing boundaries with students.) They have completely taken the fun away from the program, I do not recommend this program if you are attending ccts. I would stay as far away from these teachers because they are constantly looking for trouble.

She has had a wonderful learning experience there and I credit her teachers for the warm and caring environment in which all the students are learning. The children learn everything from personal responsibility and life skills to learning how to read and write, developing a strong foundation in math skills, and an understanding of the world around us through social studies, geography, and science. The students enjoy weekly lessons in Spanish, cooking, gym, art, music, and more. The students also experience at least two field trips during the school year, playing in the snow (as long as they bring appropriate snow gear), Bike Day at the end of each month, a few celebrations, such as International Day where families come in and teach the students about their heritage. CMS encourages family involvement, whether it's participating in special events or coming in to teach a lesson. Families may be as involved as they choose to be and aren't pressured to do more than they can give. Cornerstone Montessori also offers before- and after-school care for working parents like us and three 2-week summer sessions. The summer sessions are great for parents who would like to check out the school and see if it is right for their child as well as for students who are already enrolled to maintain the skills they have developed during the school year and continue on their learning path. The summer sessions are more relaxed and additional fun activities are scheduled. We are so pleased with our experience at Cornerstone Montessori, and we are sure you will be, too. Foreign students in attendance from every corner of the earth. Pricey--yes, but very generous aid is available for families that need it. Two of our three children currently attend St. Joseph. Our eldest is in the HS. We have never had an issue or doubt as to whether we have made the right choice. The owner is always on site, the facility is spotless considering all those darn kids, and the yard/playground area is huge. All the teachers and aides knew my shy daughter by both her name and personality. Even the ones who didn't teach her! And she loved this school. Great communication, pre-K curriculum and a safe atmosphere.

Academically, we were impressed with the curriculum at the PK and K levels. In addition to his normal class schedule, our son has two special-subject areas each day; one being Coding (taught by the amazing Rachel Kaplan). All special areas are wonderful, but as I understand it, MFS is the only school in NJ to teach Coding (which is the future) at the PK and K levels. Although…read moreI am told by regular academic students' parents that they are happy, we were very unahppy with the education our creative/musican son received. He came from a private school in Philadelphia where he graduated top of his class, and won Pennsylvania awards for musicianship and was head chorister at his professional church choir. He is also now an award winning pianist and composer. His creativity was saved at MFS by Ed Robertson and Rich Marcucci - just wonderful artists and musicians. Other than that no one else seemed to care about his level of musicianship. During his junior year we asked for specific help about applying to creative and performing arts schools. During College admissions night, the guidance counselors admitted to us they had no process in place for developing our creative students' porfolios. After checking with Westtown School, Friends Central, Friends Select and Germantown Friends, we realized that MFS was really lacking in their ability to help our creative children. After spending $16,000 a year on our son's high school education we were truly disappointed in MFS's lack of help for our creative child and also their lack of folow up after the college admissions night. They really had no idea how to treat college applications for creative students. They only seemed to are about Ivy League level students and had no interest in their creative students. We would truly like to know whether things have changed. If not, I will continue to recommend Moorestown High School or one of the Philadelphia Friends Schools if parents have a creative child and live in this area. Renee Jones
