Tl:dr: Alyssa at Cheveux is an absolute treasure who is thoughtful, talented and a riot of a hair stylist who has mastered her craft and all things balayage and ombré. Cheveux is hands down one of the best salons for many reasons: 1) their complete and talented team 2) the specific attention to detail and safety during the COVID pandemic 3) the wide array of team members and focus on many different contemporary types of hair styles as well as a mastery in a range of different textures of hair I personally work with Alyssa (who is an absolute GOD SEND) and I usually struggle with my hair and don't get it done very often. I have very long, fine and somewhat thin hair which causes for a lot of frizz and mismanagement on my end. I came in to get my hair in good shape for my upcoming wedding and, like always, she knew just what to do. I took her advisement on where to start the ombré, she gave me a much needed trim that help my hair feel fuller at the ends and healthier and "schwooshier." She takes her time, let's you chat and gab with her about the latest Netflix show you're watching or your crazy work stories, she pampers you and makes the whole experience a confidence booster. A few hours later and my curly ombré waves are here to stay! The whole process of going into the salon was incredibly impressive - you got a notification on when you could come inside, your temperature was immediately checked and, once passed, you got hand sanitizer. They have a bin of pens that are "new" or "used" meaning everything is getting sanitized and never used by more than one person. Everyone worse masks inside the salon at all times and social distancing was done with all other setups around you and your stylist. The other stylists were also incredibly nice and gave great customer service (I could tell from the eye crinkle they were smiling behind the masks!) and I even got a compliment in my ankle tattoo from one of them. No doubt in my mind I will continue coming back to work with Alyssa anytime I do anything with my hair and also no doubt the high level of COVID safety and customer service I felt from Cheveux as a whole! read more

I called on New Years Eve to see if Cheveaux could fit me in to fix an at-home semi-permanent color that I tried myself. They got me an appointment that day and I couldn't be happier with the work they did. Russel is a genius and I'm so grateful that he had the skills to remove the semi-perm blue pieces in my hair and then tone it perfectly to finish it up. Another stylist named Mahogany was so helpful in walking through the steps and giving me a quick haircut to polish everything off. I 100% recommend Cheveaux for value and skilled services. Looking for a new salon as I'm new to Tosa. I didn't request any specific stylist and won't name who did my hair, but off the bat I was nervous. She talked about how she was only 19 and hadn't been there very long. I asked for a layered cut and balayage. I even showed her a picture. As the color/cut was ending, I asked her where the layers were...all it appeared she'd done was trim me. She laughed and said they were there, but she could add more. I said yes please. She "added more" around my face. It's been about a month and I've tried really hard to work with what she gave me, including investing in lots of purple shampoo. My hair is still shaped like a triangle. Layers are non existent. And the "balayage" she gave me is just a bunch of chunky brassy streaks. It's embarrassing and I'm looking into getting a color correction elsewhere. It is NOT balayage in the least. It's horribly streaky and the tone has never been good. Also, she charged me a LOT more than I initially signed up for, and when I asked (because it was significant) she explained that it was for all the extra toner she had to use. Again - the was NOT the balayage I asked for. She gave me a WHOLE HEAD (from root to end) of streaky highlights..hence the extra toner. But I assure you, the toner didn't do anything. I've been washing w purple shampoo ever since bc it's SO brassy and embarrassing. I feel like my hair looks like a teenage girl in 1999..and not in a good way. Unfortunately I do not recommend at all. Especially for color treatments. read more

Nice seating area at entrance as well as a nice little store at the front which is always stocked up with goodies/the best products! as well as products that are actually being used in your hair which that's what I like the most about the small store at the front; the ability to purchase products you like the results/touching effects of from your stylist using them that day or even a few visits later! Everyone is so so so so friendly even all the customers that in the chairs! the welcoming environment I've had since day one coming here is amazing and one of a kind! I have had nothing but positive experiences at this salon! I see Mahogany every 4 weeks for a hair cut and every 8 weeks for blonde highlights. Each time I leave the salon my hair feels so soft and healthy and I'm always happy with how it looks! I appreciate that Mahogany helps me meet my hair goals appearancewise while also caring about the health of my hair. She is very easy to talk with and I enjoy our conversation during my appointments! For the service and price point you really can't beat it. Men's haircut with wash is ~$20 after tip. A bargain considering most of the places in Tosa charge $30 for a men's cut. Russell cut my hair the first time and Rosalyn cut my hair the second time. Both were very detailed and took my input into consideration. The space is very clean and professional and the products they use are not harsh or overwhelming in smell. It is not difficult to set up a time to come in. I just called ahead each time about half an hour before. The only thing I would note is that the air freshener in the shop is quite pungent smelling. read more

I've been looking for a hair salon in the area and I chose to check out Cheveux because of the good reviews on Yelp. Because this was my first time here I didn't ask for a specific stylist when I made my appointment. Today I was introduced to Laura, and she must have been new because she didn't have a name tag at her station like other stylists did. I told her that I wanted a simple haircut of about 8 inches and styling for a photoshoot I have later today. I didn't know what style I exactly wanted but I said I would like to try loose waves, nothing too curly. Everything was going okay until she started blow drying my hair. I was surprised that the haircut was done so quickly! It must have taken like 5 minutes. The hair stylists I've worked with in the past always made sure they would cut a part of my hair and double check with me if this is good length. Laura didn't even check with me until she started curling my hair. This was AFTER the hair's already been blow dried. There was no communication during the haircut! By the time she asked about the length of my hair, it didn't look like it was the length I wanted. I asked her if it would be too much if I wanted a little bit more cut. I could tell she was hesitant and said that she had cut off 8 inches like we promised. I didn't want to argue so I just let it go. Now here's the worst part. When she started to "style" my hair with a hair straightener, my chair was rotated away from the mirror so I couldn't even see what was going on the whole time. When she finally finished and I saw myself in the mirror, my hair was TOO curly! I told her it's curlier than I imagined, so she started to relax it with a hair dryer. When it was "relaxed", the curls looked bigger and odd. I think at that point it was too late to salvage my hair. I could tell she was trying to rush and make it look better but all I could think of was going home and washing my hair. When I washed my hair at home, it became evident that my hair was cut unevenly (see picture). I didn't even get a chance to see that it was uneven, otherwise I would have asked to fix it at the salon. I am so disappointed at Cheveux and will never be going back there. read more

She's a great listener and really takes her time - long scalp massage, super precise cut, checks her work, and styles it perfectly. She educated me on the different products, she did a hair consultation and recommended products and services that works best for my hair texture, and because my hair was so damaged from over processed relaxers, she did serveral treatments to get the hair healthy again....
