Anyone who works in the Silicon Valley should be capable of speaking basic English when serving the public. Unless the man I sought help from (who was working the cashier on Dec 2, 2024 was pretending he didn't understand me or didn't want to help at all. I walked inside the store asking if he could come out and take a look at my tire, get a second opinion if it was driveable or not. After a few minutes of repeating myself and pointing outside where my car was and pointing back at the surveillance camera, he understood it as I needed the air turned on and he did just that, flipped the switch. With his thick Indian accent he also kept repeating "no mechanic today". I also kept telling him I wasn't looking for a damn mechanic. So I go back to my car, hoping another citizen would come by. It was slow that morning. The cashier comes out to survey my car, but doesn't even come near when I motion for him to help my way. His dad or something is nearby and he is just sending glances in my direction. Another minority parks next to me to get some air in his tires. When asked, he was able to give a quick glance at my front tire and concludes that my tire was ok and safe to drive to dealership (and he was right!). Whoever this stranger was, he came at the right time and place. I am grateful. Great corner location and a couple of exits from the 101 freeway off Matilda and San Aleso. But the sour experience or lack of customer service had this day, dampens what could've been a positive review. Then again, there's a reason why I'm a loyal patron of 76 gas, (just happened to pop in this Chevron location because it was a long the way). WORTHLESS CARWASH Around summer 2022, they installed a "new" carwash and it simply doesn't work. The attached photo shows my window AFTER the carwash - the bird-poop wasn't even touched. And this is after TWO TIMES through the carwash, since they let me go through a second time. Apparently "soft touch" is the same as "no touch". The second time through I watched, expecting of course to see the spinning brushes touch the window, but the brushes just spin about an inch from the car! No wonder the windows didn't get cleaned. I showed the attendant that the bird-poop was still there AFTER the car was supposedly washed. He suggested cleaning it by hand! Pump was super slow (possibly broken). It was so slow that I thought I put the pump in wrong so kept taking it out to reposition it back in. Confirmed broken pump because the sensor didn't go off so the pump proceeded to put gas into my car until it overflowed out onto the floor. I came inside to tell the worker that the pump may be broken and to possibly put a sign on the pump. I wasn't upset about the wait or overflow. I wanted to let the worker know so the next person wouldn't have to deal with it. What did I get? A total dick of a worker who basically told me it was my fault and he wasn't putting on a damn sign. I come here mainly for the car wash. The car wash has two prices: $6 - foam and rinse $8 - foam, rinse, extra wash and rinse, and special coating to help when it rains. I usually get the $8 to ensure my car is clean on the outside. The $6 wash will not take off any sun-baked hard grim on your vehicle. You must pay inside and the guy will give you a code to punch in. read more

Worse place ever . The guy is super rood and a lier. Had several car washes before last 2 times it didn't even turn on. I honked and honked no one came. Then I walked inside and told him it didnt even turn on. He said I was lying and it works fine . I told him look at my car . Super dry and dirty. It wasn't washed. He had attitude. Okay, rarely will I update for another review, BUT I absolutely feel the must to do so. I came in this evening to purchase some goodies at the front counter. I was immediately greeted by Charles who said it was great to see me again. I was then assisted by (come to find out the store manager of this location, Benjamin) who was pleasant and informed me that the register was down and to please wait a few minutes. ...See this water bottle? Benjamin told Charles to gift it to me while I waited (and mind you - It's 103 degrees out), I thought this act of kindness was above and beyond. I was so thankful and told the gents to keep up the exquisite service, that I loved their location, enjoyed their pleasant staff and truly thought the cleanliness and pricing here was better than most. I recently went into the car wash but the lights were all out and it seemed as if the car wash was stuck on drying mode. It never started so I went inside and the gentleman at the counter asked if I had ever used a car wash before because it's not that hard to use. He then pointed to the security camera to show me it was working. I let him know I realize it's working now but it wasn't before. He just said "better luck next time." I see now they have a sign up that the car wash won't work now if you enter your code before the car in front of you is done. So as I expected, turns out it is in fact broken and the guy inside was just a jerk! read more

I wouldn't recommend this place for car wash. I had bad experience with the ultimate car wash from here. It broke my driver side mirror by the wash spinner. they refuse to accept the responsibility. This review was for the small little vacuum that could... in the far corner. Unfortunately in Sunnyvale, you really have to search far and wide or in a haystack to find a car wash and vacuum station that's also affordable. It took me a bit of searching to find this Chevron off the 101/237 on Mathilda Ave. First off, the gas here is pretty expensive but about average I guess for Silicon Valley. The prize here of course is the car wash and vacuum. The car was is through a machine and is $6.99 I believe for the cheapest one (basic without drying?), there's the $8.99 standard one which you'd get for a normal wash and the ultimate, $14.99 one. I'll definitely visit the car wash next time and update my review. However, my first experience here was for the vacuum. There's only one vacuum tucked in a corner on the far edge of the gas station. I repeat, there's only ONE. So the best time to come would be at an off hour. You don't need any special coins, but it's $2 for each vacuum and the water+air combo is $1.5. It only takes quarters, but luckily the cashier inside can do you a solid and exchange your bills for $2.00 It's pricey, but it works. I was frantically trying to vacuum my car as much as I could since the cashier said the time limit was "a couple minutes." I reckon that the total time was about 5 minutes, but that's enough to suck up all that dirt. Overall, I'm glad there's a car wash+vacuum place in Sunnyvale, although I find it a bit pricey... well at least for the vacuum. I don't care where it is. I don't care what time of day it is. And I definitely don't care that you can't get your American Express to work at your pump. You're probably a killer, definitely a rapist, and I've seen Human Centipede enough times to know what comes next. If you've got a problem with your pump, go inside to the perfectly clean and well-staffed service station and maybe try getting a Visa so you can actually use it places. Ain't no good samaritan here. GTFO of here with that sh*t. Besides that I was here at night and some dude chose me, the only woman and also person parked furthest from his pump, of the two other men pumping gas on both sides of him to ask if I could help him with his pump and credit card that won't go through (NO I CANNOT HELP YOU I CANT EVEN HEAR WHAT YOURE ASKING ME OVER MY OWN THOUGHTS OF YOU ATTACKING ME), this was a perfectly fine gas station. MY pump worked fine... but I also followed all the very clear instructions and I have a real card and not an American Express, which is accepted nowhere you want to be, apparently, and I'm not a murderer. Tell clerk, who is totally aware it doesn't work when paying at the pump, won't refund, just argues, and won't explain why no SIGN on the pump telling customers to save time and hassle and money by coming to the cashier to pay in advance. This chevron always gave me a weird feeling. Hardly anyone ever here, although its on the main strip of mathilda in sunnyvale. Went under ownership twice, and it still sucks. The attendant here is unfriendly and rude, and always seems like he doesn't want to be there. DO NOT GO HERE. This is one of the worst-run businesses I have encountered, and one that certainly does not deserve to continue operation. The gas is gas - and is cheaper at three other stations, including a Shell, within a 2 block radius. However, I've been coming here for some time since driving my car through the automatic car wash was a cheap and fast way to deal with pollen build-up. I've seen the car wash be out of order a couple times, but never imagined it would cause $1,400 in damages due to a malfunction. Yes, the exact thing that happened to the previous two reviewers happened to me - and despite knowing that the machine had been malfunctioning and damaging cars, the owner is still operating the car wash. NEGLIGENCE MUCH? Luckily I found the Yelp reviews - too bad it was after the damage was done. Like dozens of times before I drove my small car through the wash, but this time one of the rotating brush-covered poles smashed into the back of my car instead of going around it. The attendant came out and saw the machine broken on my car and then I drove out of the wash I found a large dent (about 10 inches) plus about 4 inches of paint removal along the back bumper. Despite seeing the machine in action, he tried to insist that it was like that before, even with the purple brush fibers all over the back of the car. I tried to fill an incident report which is what my insurance company said I should do, but of course there was none. I asked to talk to the manager, who was apparently in meetings, but could meet me at 3:00pm that day. I had the attendant sign a hand-written witness statement of sorts, but had to go to work. When I called later in the afternoon to confirm that the owner would be there, the afternoon attendant said the owner would NOT meet me and that there is a sign in front of the wash saying they are not liable for any damages. DEAR OWNER - that does not apply to malfunctioning machines, especially when you know it has been occurring for months. I went in that afternoon anyway, and asked for the owner's phone number - which he "could not" give me. I asked for his name, which is "Moe." Very helpful. I left a message for the owner in the shop - never heard back. After talking with the previous two reviewers I realized that this was going to be a difficult battle, so I'll see how successful my insurance company will be in getting the company to pay my deductible, but am also ready to go to small-claims court. Though I doubt "Moe" will show. Apparently "Moe" drives a $150,000 car. I'd like to see him drive it through the wash. DEAR MOE - please get out of Sunnyvale, you're not welcome. read more

My car didn't get damaged (I think) but its certainly not clean. Pulled in - no undercarriage wash as advertised. Pulled forward - water sprayed, crazy brushes I swear I thought were going to break my car came out. Wash over - no soap, no wax, no rinse, crappy air dryer. Lasted maybe 2 minutes tops. I have to agree with the first review 100%. I went to this Chevron carwash and left with a burned, cracked, dented bumper that was ripped off on the left side. I went in the first time and sat for 4 minutes with just 1 spritz of water. I told the attendant and he told me I went in wrong. I drove when the light was green, stopped when it was red. I've used many carwashes before. I go in the second time and this is when the damage happened. The machine didn't sense my car and when the brushes and levers went to the back it pushed and rocked my car, causing repetitve motion that created heat and pressure--thus the damage. I complained to the attendant but he didn't want to help me. He kept saying there was nothing he could do. He yelled at me too because he said he was too tired to deal with me. I am not sure how I will be reparing my car but as of late, I am driving around with a dent, brown and black burn spots (on a white car) and ripped off bumper. Awesome..not. read more

The employees of this gas station who are also probably the owners are the most crooked people I ever met. Not only are the gas prices extremely high compared to others but also they are scoundrels. I went there to use their drive thru car wash and had paid for "The Works" which includes a wash and wax. After going through the washer I realized all I got was a wash and no wax. Because I was on a tight schedule I just left without going in to complain. I decided to give the place a second chance thinking maybe the guy made a mistake. I went back several weeks later and paid for "The Works" again. After going through the wash I all I got was just a rinse. After complaining to cashier he insisted that was what I paid for. This place has gone downhill. I can understand the prices are a little higher as it's close to 101, but it's not being kept up. Meaning, there is never water and soap to clean your windshield. And, no squeegees. In addition, there is never any paper towels next to the windshield cleaner bins. This place is now beginning to look dirty. What happened to the "new" management? I haven't been inside the quickie mart or used the car wash. But after seeing the current condition of the gas station, I'm sure they're not worth checking out. Contrary to what some reviewers mentioned, I washed my car at this gas station's automatic carwash a few times within this past year, with no incidents. Anyway, last night (Thu) I dropped by for an autowash at 11:30pm, and it was closed. Maybe they're repairing it? If I recall correctly, the carwash being unattended, was open 24/7. Went through the carwash, and the machine ground up against my car, taking off a bunch of paint on the bumper, scuffing the last quarter panel, and crackling the paint on the hatchback. Went inside to complain, and the guy there told us we went through the car wash wrong. Really? He also couldn't tell us his boss's name -- who the hell doesn't know their boss's name? And the worst part? There was no soap in the carwash. We also didn't get our $$ back. If I could give this place negative 5 stars I WOULD. The gas might be gas but is higher priced then the others nearby. There are no prices on the items in the convenience store making it very difficult to decide if it is worth your time. Because of this I decided to get a 16 oz Mt. Dew that shows the price of 99 cents right on the can itself. It scanned as $3.00 and when I questioned the cashier, he looked confused and said I was correct but that the price was $1.99. In the end, I got the gas but walked out on the drink and will make it a point to never come here again even if they were the cheapest place in the area for gas. People were so rude when their car wash didn't tell me to stop in time and they didn't want to give me a new car wash even though its their car wash that messed up and there was foamy soap all over my car! Finally, they gave me a voucher after I won't in twice (because they told me to drive through and just "try again" even though clearly my old code wouldn't work, thanks it wasting the gas in my Chrysler 300 too). Blaring ads on TV not irritating enough for you? Go try to get some gas at the Chevron on Mathilda. You'll be forced to listen to their ads, too. But not before you are forced to use one of their extravagantly useless touch screens that requires answering a bunch of yes no questions about your Safeway club card membership, the size spoon you prefer eating cereal with and which Justin Timberlake album you'd be most likely to purchase with a car wash when combined with a 248 oz bag of Doritos. Version 2 (next month?) will require you to log in with your Facebook account before you can earn the privilege to pay $5 a gallon for gas. It's sick. Paying 'hammer in the head' prices for gas is defeating enough. Having to provide social media/data collection/identity tracking info is creepy and insulting. After the 5th question that prevented me from turning the god damned 'golden profit shower of petrol' I hoped the next option was, "would you like a pack of matches?" It wasn't, so I cancelled my transaction and drove down the street to the 76 station, where I happily paid $62 to pay and pump. I recommend you do the same. read more

BEWARE HYPER AGGRESSIVE CARWAX SELLER Stopped for gas this morning and saw the table by the door with a young guy pushing that aerosol car wash & wax stuff. Just started filling my tank when he showed up to try to sell me some. I politely said I was not interested, but he kept at it. Insisting he was supposed to give me a free demo and he started to take the cap off, and I sternly told him to not touch my truck and I was not interested. But, he kept at it, pointing out it was to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness and asking what I had against that. So I laid into him, pointing out I had nicely told him 5 times I was not interested. He kept at it, so I (unfortunately) had to get in his face telling him to leave me the hell alone. His response was to walk away complaining about me being rude and F this and F that.
