That's honestly the beauty of it. It's run by a family of siblings and their nephew and they are all extremely hardworking and friendly folks. Let me preface by saying it's a smallish campground that offers plugs for RV's to set up shop as well as a handful of one floor ranch-style cabins that contain the bare minimum. Not to say that's a bad thing-- besides, the point of a camp getaway is to feel unplugged and enjoy the experience/nature around! The RV's are set up pretty close next to eachother and as for the week of the 4th, there's a lot of families in soccer chairs/grilling/playing games and such all day outside. Across the board: - Extremely warm and inviting hospitality from Susan (one of the main kitchen workers who also runs this place) and her family - Solid view and access to Sebec Lake - Communal basketball court, cornhole, and bathrooms in the center of the marina but all of these are up on a semi slanted hill and in a patchy and rocky area of grass. But that adds to the fun-- bringing you back to old school days. Nothing glamorous but definitely could be worse - There's a hill you can walk down to see the dock and while doing so you'll pass a dirt volleyball court tucked away - There's a restaurant to order lunch and dinner, as well as a little office that serves as the check-in place and mini gift shop of trinkets if you will The restaurant: - The food is decent. Nothing fancy but also a good option if you don't feel like running to the store. There's really no other "takeout" food options nearby so it's either you cook your own food at your place along Sebec Lake or you go by the marina for food (whether you're staying here or not) - There was 20 of us (yes 20) and Susan was so friendly and ON TOP OF IT with our food and drink orders. The food was definitely better than we expected and it came out in a reasonable time, especially given there was 20 of us eating at once (although I'd suggest you call ahead for something like pizzas since those take more time here) - See menu photos for pricing. It can be pricey but again, there's nothing else really around (i.e. we ordered a fisherman's platter and it was $45) - Plenty of tables and chairs to comfortably eat and hangout - Solid selection of drinks and alcoholic beverages for sale in their fridge - Overall it's very open and has lots of natural light in the restaurant Our cabin stay (which might not be the case for all the other cabins but it could be): - It's definitely got everything you need to get by - Shower, toilet, sink, mirror, and towels provided. Although, the bathroom has no vent so you either have to leave the bathroom door open or open the window to air it out which wasn't too effective from a timing perspective but it did the job for us! - 3 bedrooms supplied with a full sized bed, a dresser, nightstand, and lamp - there is no A/C and it was 90° almost every day this week so it felt like a sauna but particularly at night it was really hot trying to sleep so be sure to bring multiple fans!! - Kitchen utensils, plates, glass cups, fridge, sink, old school TV, couches, dining table provided as well All in all it's a campsite that has a lot going for it in Sebec, for a cheap cost if you're looking to experience a getaway/go camping in an authentic fashion. :)

Just completed the 100 Mile Wilderness over a 12 day period with two friends who have been doing…read moretrips with me for 25 years now. Was very happy to have stumbled upon Phil's 100 Mile Wilderness for a whole host of reasons. First, Phil made it simple and easy and gave us peace of mind. Knowing we would be entering a 100 mile stretch of the Appalachian Trail with no stores or simple exit routes meant we had to be 100% on everything and Phil helped make that happen for us. It started with a stay in a private cabin so we could get a good night's sleep before getting dropped off at Able Bridge. We had hot showers, fresh towels, free sodas, and a nice tour of everything else available to us. Early the next morning, we had coffee and then was off to our drop off location. Two stop options for food, last minute items we may need and bathroom breaks were helpful. At the drop off, Phil told us he knows all the entry/exit points along the trail so if someone rolled an ankle or got sick, he's would be there to help. Just text him and he would give instructions. Only thing one needs to know is that Verizon works in most areas while AT&T worked hardly anywhere. We never needed Phil's help and completed our North to South trip without a hitch but we felt confident that had we needed help, Phil would be there for us. It gave us a comfortable feeling. Food drops were key and this was another area where Phil did a stellar job. We had a choice of one or two food drop areas. We chose two and at each, we resupplied, emptied our garbage, left unneeded items, grabbed complementary sodas and continued on our way. When we got back in town, we stayed one more night - enjoyed the clean, hot showers and a restful night in a real bed before driving home. If you want to hike the 100 Mile Wilderness, I highly recommend Phil's company. He's more than a businessman - more like a friend in Maine. The prices are very reasonable too. Remember to buy a map from Phil and have him mark it up for you with all the best (unlisted) camping spots so you don't have to get stuck in a high use area where you lose that feeling of being away from everyone. We just loved his secret spots - all with access to water.

I visited Phil's, for the first time, in May. Stayed for a couple days to do a check out hike for…read moremy upcoming trip through the 100MW. On that trip I was the only guest. Phil gave me a tour of his place and provided some valuable tips. Coffee was ready in the morning - I appreciated the company (from both Phil and Woody). Used the grill that evening and spent time reading in the "community center". I felt totally at home and had a chance to destress from life. My sister and I returned at the end of June for our hike. Cabin was ready when we arrived. Phil was as engaging as ever. He dropped us at Abol Bridge in the morning. Unfortunately my sister fell and tore her ACL on the hike. Phil provided instructions for how to get her out and even, personally hiked in to look for us. After she got off trail, he helped me plan a two day solo hike. Really awesome place! I now think of Phil as a friend. I'd highly recommend.

So much so that we got a knock on our camper door only minutes past quiet hours started telling us to turn the movie we were watching down. We visited Bissell Brothers Three Rivers both days we camped, which is sadly not something we'll ever be able to do again. It was about 20 minutes up the road. We also ate at the Quarry in Monson during our stay. Very very windy roads, be careful of wildlife at night.

We went on a family camping trip to hike and go white water rafting. This place surpassed…read moreexpectations for so many reasons. 1. Location is very convenient to Moxie Falls. About a 10 minute drive away. 2. The camping offers many options from hotel rooms in the lodge, to cabins, to RV sites, tent sites and cabin-tents. We tried the cabin-tent and LOVED it. We are use to camping in tents so a cabin-tent felt luxurious. 3. The lodge offers a huge hot tub, a swimming pool, corn hole, billiards, and an arcade...complete with several claw games which all kids love. 4. The food and drinks are really quality. We're talking gourmet food, but good selection of classics and something for everyone. They have a great selection of craft beer. 5. The white water rafting is down to a science! They offer gear for staying warm even when wet...wetsuit parts (jackets, pants, booties), and of course life jackets and helmets. You literally just have to show up. 6. The guides and staff in the lodge are very knowledgeable, very friendly, and some of them are very funny. All of them are great to talk to. We rafted the Kennebec, and we can't wait to come back and do the Dead River and the Penobscot too!

We rented the King Pine log cabin for a birthday party. It sleeps 14+! I do have pictures that I will share but the beds aren't made because we were leaving & housekeeping does all of that. We all went to breakfast at their restaurant. Delicious & huge portions. Reasonably priced as well. There's a large hot tub, game room, swimming pool & pool table. Nice cozy couches in this area as well. The staff were some of the nicest people I have ever met. This is an all season place. It is definitely worth the trip!

No one would move out of the way, all blocking the counter. She glared at me when I put a few items on the counter, The entire transaction she didn't utter a word to me.
