Let's see if I can get 10 miles in the mud. Currently on blackmer loop I believe is the name of the trail

I absolutely love the trails in this state park. Every trail is marked so well and has a map at the beginning/end of the trail so you can decide if you want to add more time or start heading back to the parking lot. Only a few trails in the park are dog friendly and they have some equestrian friendly trails available as well. They have beginner friendly trails and some harder trails as well. I'm looking at you Dixon trail!

Just went here and did some hiking. Smooth sandy packed trails and easy terrain. The trail is a bit more In the woods, so you come across a few vistas but most of the time you can't see as you're not on top of a hill. The trails are clearly marked, which is nice. They also periodically have markers with your location. Like most places, you have shorter and longer connecting trails, so you can make it what you want. We saw only birds, no other wildlife.

A great spot for one of my first state park hikes! The visitor center was open and staffed. No bathroom available in this building at the moment, but the staff and the maps will point you to one a short drive away. The staff was very helpful as we were trying to plan our route. Not too long, but not too short. Her guidance was very valuable. We easily found "Camper Services" which was a great spot for us to start from that day and we felt pretty comfortable parking our car there. There are bathrooms available right there and they were so clean! I was thoroughly impressed. You can also shower for four minutes for $1. We weren't camping so we didn't need a shower, but it was good to know for future information. These trails are very well marked. There was one exception near the end of our journey when we ended up at a road with no trail in sight and eventually found the marker behind a large garbage gondola that was fenced in across the street and down the way a little bit. The map coincides perfectly with the trails we were on as well. That made for a very nice morning. We saw some of the campsites and they were spaced out nicely with plenty of room to setup. We noticed the platforms that we think were for those who may be tent camping, but want to stay off the actual ground. Overall, it's beautiful here definitely a spot I would visit again.

This review is for the staff and facilities of the Nature Center as I have not yet had the chance to hike any of the trails. Came to the nature center for a lecture. Before hand we had been advised that parking needed to be validated with a daily park pass. I got to the gate house right as the clerk was closing the till, so I proceeded to the automated parking meter to get my ticket. The ticketing machine was new to me so it took me a while to figure it out. A plate number must be input so I had to cross the street to verify it as I don't remember it by heart. The clerk saw me and very kindly came to tell me that because I had a vehicle with disabled vet plates I did not need to pay for parking. That was super sweet of her as I was not aware. The nature center is brand new, offers clean restrooms and a wide array of gift shop items, as well as providing a ton of information regarding trails and local wildlife. The park has a group of volunteers that also organizes hikes on a regular basis leading off from the center and hiking all the way up to Mount Cheyenne summit. Just a wonderful establishment with friendly staff and a great start off point for hikes or to learn more about this area and its ecosystem.

Always a great spot for camping in Colorado Springs! Reservations are a must and should be made 6 months in advance of your arrival especially for weekends! Quiet, peaceful and a great base of operations for exploring Colorado Springs. Sites are well laid out with full hookups.

Simply Beautiful! This place is awesome for hiking with tons of marked trails. They just recently opened a new trail to (17 Miles), though that one isn't as well marked as the others though sounds like it is a work in progress. Lovely views from all sorts of spots. We went at Sunrise and it was lovely, we didn't see anyone on the trail till about the last mile or so. We ended up getting a year access pass which was pretty reasonable, and grants us access to other State Parks as well. We have been a couple of times now, and planing for many more trips. They have access for tent camping & trailer camping, so if you are down for that this place is perfect.

This campground would have got 5 stars but there pay showers suck the women's had low pressure cold water and it cost me 2 dollars, but my husband got a hot shower with pressure. The hiking trails are awesome plus they have a couple of dog trails within the main part of the park.

Beautiful and well maintained State park. Spacious campsites. Full hookups year round. Awesome views!!! Be prepared for the peace and quiet, but also be prepared for weather!! Can be extreme, even in the summer. Keep tuned to the local weather, specifically for Cheyenne Mountain. Can't emphasize this enough!! You will love it there if you're Prepared!

One of the top clean, safe, friendly high tech, state parks any where with million dollar views of the city below and Milky Way above most nights of the year.

Initially our intention for our C Springs trip was to stay at Cheyenne Mtn State Park, but we took too long booking it and they were booked solid 2 months in advance. I thought this was interesting since it's off season and not spring break. Oh well. We found another park nearby that worked just fine. We still opted to pay the $7 to enjoy the trails for the day. Since it's still considered winter season the gate wasnt attended, but there's a well marked box off to the left of the gate where you place your money and get the parking pass. The trails are numerous and very clearly marked. We took 3 of the loops and it was partially moderate and partially easy I'm terms of difficulty. The views are beautiful. The trails were spotless. Since it was a random Wednesday in April, we didn't encounter another human on our hike (but saw many deer, lizards, etc). Also, being the off-season meant the restrooms were closed so we ventured up to the camping area restroom which was immaculate. $7 per car is certainly a fair price for the number of hours that could be spent exploring this beautiful park.

My only reason for one less star that "great" is that it would have been awesome to have a lil fire pit or grill at the "Deluxe" sites. Aside from that, we had a great stay. Location-wise, we rode our bikes to the Garden of the Gods paths, as well as to downtown Colorado City, where there are ample restaurants, little shops, etc. It's also biking distance to downtown Manitou Springs, which was very charming as well. Service-wise, we requested an early check-in so that we could get set up and have time to ride our bikes to an appointment nearby, and they us to check in a few hours early with no additional fee. They also have a chalkboard in the office with cool things going on in the surrounding area. Another cool feature of this RV Park - it's proximity to the Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort. Within less than 5 minutes of walking, this place has live music and cute lil bar that really made our quick getaway weekend.

The spaces are so close together and you get a picnic table setting on a slab of cement, the RV's on top of rocks. No trees in the deluxe sites. For the price you pay for RV parks anymore this one does not meet the Mark. If you pay for it in full when you book it, and if you cancel for any reason, there are no refunds. Lots of full-time RVs here. We came in first thing to do laundry, but they failed to tell us that you don't take quarters. You have to download an app that is so cumbersome. We had to call the staff twice to help us with it and we're pretty soggy when it comes to the Internet. Too much work for a Guest staying a couple of nights. We would not recommend this park. The only and I mean only Positive is that it's a good location, very close to garden of the gods and eating places.

There's something so majestic about the formation of these beautiful red rocks. The best thing about this park is that it was gifted to the city of Colorado Springs under the agreement that it remain free and available to the public, so it's a great place to visit on a budget! There are a lot of iconic rock formations and view points. I would recommend visiting the park earlier in the day so that it's cooler to walk around and so that it's not so busy. If you're also a fan of audio tours, there's a good one from TravelStorys, which you can also find on the Garden of the Gods website. They do have free shuttles available to can take you from the visitor center to key spots where you can roam around or begin a hiking trail. These hiking trails are generally not strenuous and are overall pretty family friendly. Additionally, there are also trolley tours where there's a tour guide talking you through the history of the park and stopping at iconic places where you can take some photos. The trolley tour will require purchased tickets, but we opted out of it. Plus, if you can stop by the Garden of the Gods trading post, there are a lot of cool finds and a cafe to grab some snacks! Would highly recommend!

If you know the specific trail you want to hike look for the closest parking lot to that, get there early and look for that parking lot number. If you want to experience the Park for the first time, my advice would be to take yourself over to the visitor center. There is a lot at the visitor center and there is one across the street that had ample parking. Parking is also free. You can then walk from the visitor center into the central Park area, we walked around for about 3.5 miles. It was a Saturday so it was quite busy. There were people repelling, you must have a license for this. The visitor center itself is very cool too, and has clean restrooms and a museum and café Make sure to wear a hat and sunscreen if it's a sunny day and bring your water bottle Definitely a unique part of the world you should take the time to see

DO NOT STAY HERE!!…read more Upon arrival, our spot had 2 dead mice. When we asked to move spots we were told no that if we don't like our spot, we can leave. No effort to provide any kind of customer service or guest satisfaction whatsoever after we paid a $450 deposit. There were at least 20 other open spots on the property. When we parked at our spot, the kind (only nice person we encountered) maintenance guy said "if you don't like this spot, we can find you another other one". Well that sure as hell wasn't the case! Due to the location being near the city, we sucked it up and stayed anyway while trying to maintain a positive attitude. Later in the week we noticed the sewer was messed up. When we called and asked politely if the maintenance guy could come by to assist with the sewer issue, the front desk said abruptly "NO! He canNOT" without even asking what the issues was first. Overall, they were extremely rude and aggressive for no reason. We checked in on a Sunday and paid for a background check for a month. We were told that the reason why they run a background check nowadays is because they were trying to make the park a better, safer place. After inquiring how long the background check would take, we were told within 24 hours. Fast forward, we weren't told until the following Sunday, conveniently 7 days later, that although our background passed, there was another "list of reasons" why we are not being approved to stay for a month. We asked many times for this so-called list and were told they did not have to tell us why they were declining us. Sounds pretty sketchy that they took our $450 and then had us stay for the 7 days duration and then wasn't able to provide any documentation or notice as to why we were "declined". The manager, CLAIRE, approached us aggressively at our car the minute we arrived back to the park after a nice Sunday afternoon. She did not begin with introducing herself to us but just yelled out "YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN GONE AT 11:00 THIS MORNING". We both blinked at her thinking she mistakenly took us for someone else. We explained that no, we are staying for the month and was waiting to hear back about the background check so that we could pay the remaining balance. She continued to spew out nonsense saying "oh we aren't extending you" as if she was continuing some kind of previous conversation that we never had. No one ever came by, called or talked to either of us about not "qualifying" for the month. There were many older campers here with trash, broken pieces of furniture, used tires, kid toys and mice everywhere on the property and our 4 year old camper with a 2 year old SUV was apparently an issue. This was clear discrimination going on especially since we were not even able to have the opportunity to defend ourselves. The road next to the campground is noisier than a highway, all hours of the night ambulances, revving engines, people honking, nonstop. The park smells like marijuana all day long and there are dogs barking and kids running around all day. There are no "rules" being implemented here. Save yourself the headache and don't even think about staying here.
