I have heard about this place being the best for banh mi for a long time but never got a chance to try it. We came to the Palo Alto farmers market the other day and I wanted to try this place. It had a long line but I saw that it was moving fast. So, I stood there and waited for my turn and ordered the vegetarian Banh mi. The stall I believe is run by a single family. I saw the dad handling the orders and money and the rest of the folks assembling the sandwiches and handing them to customers. We took our sandwiches and headed to the beach. The sandwiches were delicious even though they got cold by the time we ate them. The bread was soft and was filled with Seitan, tofu and a lot of veggies.

Wow, hands down the best banh mi I've ever had. Crunchy, not too much bread, the pate and ham are French, huge difference! The carrots and radish are bright and crunchy along with the right amount of fresh jalapeños and cilantro. All high quality ingredients and balance of umami.

Classic (ham and pate), $7, authentic!

My kingdom for some authentic banh mi! Having grown up eating banh mi, I had been searching high and low for a good place in my region of the Bay Area. I think I finally found it. A little tent on the side of the road during the California Ave Farmer's Market (every Sunday), they serve banh mi in four flavors: Steak, Rotisserie Chicken, Marinated Pork, and Classic (ham and pate), varying from $7 to $8. You can also get Orangina for $2 and water for $1. My Classic banh mi had that authentic blend of flavors for a truly spectacular sandwich. It starts with good spiciness. I asked for spicy, and it did have that kick. It wasn't crying-on-the-floor spiciness, as really good authentic banh mi has, but it did the job. And then the sweet-salty spread (some sort of mustard/mayo conconction?), combined with the saltiness of the ham and the pate, complemented by the pickled radishes, carrots and cilantro? That's a little slice of heaven right there. If I had one complaint, it's that banh mi shouldn't cost more than $5 ($4 is typical where I'm from). Alas, such is life in the Bay Area. I contemplated dropping them down to 4 stars for the price, but that would be an affront to my taste buds. You should thank them for lobbying against my wallet to keep Chez Eatery at 5 stars. You win today, taste buds. You win.

This is definitely the best banh mi I've ever had. The bread is ever so soft, but the outside has an amazingly satisfying crunch. I'm sad that in SoCal we don't have anything like this. Thank you, Annie!

Upscale banh mi. Probably the most expensive one I've had at 8 bucks. They don't use your traditional baguette and portions are smaller, however you can taste the quality. Good but it's too pricey for me to give up on the ones I get from the traditional shops, normally at 3 or 4 bucks.

swaggy sandwich crew: y'all made my day!

The Good: *They partner up with lots of local farms, bakeries, and even Burlingame's 157-year-old chocolatier, Guittard. *Transparent labeling about where the products come from. Most stores try and hide it, but Sigona's stands behind it whether it's local or from a different country (e.g., Mexico). *Great selection of fruits and veggies *Also sell meats and locally produced baked goods, like pies and bread. *Friendly service The Meh: *Smallish private parking lot that could fill up during busier times. *Prices aren't cheap but in-line with the typical local farmers market. The Ugly: *Located across the street from the Costco, so it can be a nightmare getting in and getting out of here. Conclusion: Great place for locally produced foods. I wish it was closer to us. =/

There were so many local vendors from all across the South Bay, Monterey, and Salinas areas selling fresh fruits and vegetables of all varieties. So many spots had free samples of their fruits which was my favorite part. As one person kept shouting, "you get more samples here than Costco!" and they weren't kidding. After all the organic goods, there was a great selection of bakeries and food trucks also selling different items from Chinese dumplings to Mediterranean spreads. I was happy to see so many vegan friendly options too from my walk throughout the market. We were even gifted with live music from a guitarist. Even during its peak times, there wasn't a huge crowd that prevented you from moving back and forth between the shops. I thoroughly enjoyed the vibes and look forward to stopping by again.

Also plenty of made food. I saw at least 3 fresh meat and fish vendors. Also some unique specific vendors,(mushrooms ,olives, heirloom tomatoes) We got there around 1130am so it was pretty crowded.
