I've been hearing a lot about the sandwiches here so I had to try them. Came on late afternoon on Monday and it wasn't busy at all. Ordered the Jack wolf and super BLT. Jack wolf comes with low sodium turkey and roast beef. The additional toppings lettuce, tomatoes, pepperoncini, onions ,mayo & mustard on a toasted Dutch crunch. Asked for light mayo and the sandwich was good. Super BLT comes with low sodium turkey, bacon, avocado and all the additional toppings in a toasted sour dough bread. Overall the sandwich was ok for me. The way the sandwich was put together made it easily to fall apart. I'll definitely be back to try other sandwiches. read more

Big bummer my husband used to frequent this place so while in town and after a long road trip we grabbed a bite I got the black beard special 18.99 and it was dry as sawdust, the meat had great flavor but it barley had bbq sauce no Jalapeños, some wilted lettuce and a bunch of red onions. The meat was worth the price but they need to soak it in just, what a bummer. My husband got a sandwich w coleslaw and that was way better. I would not go out of my way to try this again. read more

Located at the corner of Willow and Middlefield Roads, they are conveniently in walking distance from her home. Most of the times, we drive here and never face issues with finding parking in their private lot. The shoppe is not only a small grocery market with a butcher and offering organic produce, they are also a deli who also provides catering services. Word around the town is that they make some killer sandwiches with Boar's Head deli meats. Outdoor tables with umbrellas and seating are available outside if you want to eat your purchases on-site. Mom loves that they specialize in high-end specialty foods and Cielo was excited to find rare chocolates that you can't find at many other places. They also have extensive wine, beer and liquor offerings. Not going to lie, though - prices can be on the hefty side here; at my most recent visit on Saturday, September 28, 2024, I purchased a couple of 1LB boxes of butter quarters for $8.99 each. Locals are happy to pay higher prices here because of the unique offerings and the best customer service. The staff is exceptionally warm, friendly and polite. One team member even held the front door open for me. It's no surprise that they have regulars coming in all of the time. In fact, their customers are so loyal here that the store even sells The Willows Market branded t-shirts and sweatshirts. This is a supermarket with a deli inside. My bf needed to eat before his appointment and this was the closest place we could find. It was ok. It is pricey for just a sandwich. The ratio of meat to bread was off. Was left eating just bread after several bites. The pesto was good could use more of it. Service was ok. There was some seating outside. Popular spot with a long line at lunchtime. I cane here with coworkers on a Friday. I got the bbq brisket special sandwich - Black Beard Special. It did not disappoint. The place really surprised me being located inside a grocery store and yet offering a full line up of delicious smelling food! The cashier took everyone's order so we didn't have to stand in line the whole time waiting to order. I left and looked through the store, getting a drink too. We were starving after attending a graduation at Stanford and saw this place off the side of the road and read the "deli" sign. We pulled in so quick. Right when we walked in, there was a wall of colorful drinks to our left side. We were enamored by the options. I picked out a lychee passionfruit tea drink and my sister got a coconut drink. We ordered a special turkey sandwich (forgot the name) with all the works and some chipotle mayo sauce and honey mustard on dutch crunch. The sandwich came out quick and it was astoundingly delicious! The staff seemed friendly and I loved how they had so many unique items inside. I love this store! They have so many cool items that you can't find at Safeway or Trader Joe's. They even have some flavors of Bubs (the Swedish candy) and the McConnell's ice cream with See's Candy. The people who work here are also super friendly and will usually try to order something if they don't have it. This store is a real gem! I used to just go there to buy alcohol as they have an amazing assortment of small brewery beers to choose from in addition to a solid selection of wine and hard liquor especially tequila. !Recently I have been exploring more of what the store has to offer. On Fridays they get fresh fish in, which can be ordered and reserved ahead of time, but I typically I like just to crash the place on Friday or Saturday and see what looks good. Today I got some red eye tuna but their king salmon and halibut are also great quality. If you want something specific definitely order ahead of time. Over the summer I have stopped in to buy a few of their large watermelons as well and have been impressed by the quality relative to what you can get at other stores. They smoke a variety of meats on site that can be ordered as a lunch combination or simply by weight to go. Most folks go for the brisket, ribs and especially the tri-tip. I have tried their smoked meats before and have been very happy with the quality. Today I was in the mood for a proper sandwich. I usually steer away from low sodium turkey as it doesn't sound tasty, but when I asked what they recommended for turkey (they have several choices) they recommended the low sodium. I rounded out the order with bacon, avocado, pickles, pepperonis, tomatoes, onion, lettuce and mayo on a sourdough bun. I also added a small container of potato salad which was delicious just by itself. The sandwich itself was decadent. I would not have expected low sodium turkey to taste so good. It probably helped that I added bacon and avocado to it , but a great healthy/hearty combination. Check out the pic attached as the portion size is very nice! I will be back for more of this sandwich and to try others. For those of you that prefer more red meat on your sandwiches they got you covered as well and will pile it onto make you happy. Definitely a sense of old-school charm at the Willows Marker due to the great customer service here as the staff is very attentive. read more

I can't really comment on the grocery selection here, or the deli (though I've heard it's pretty good). I've been to the Willows Market for one reason only: Their amazing beer selection. Despite being a smaller footprint, their variety of choices puts larger grocers - even most liquor stores - to shame. And the focus is on microbrews and independents, which is my thing. The only store I've found in the Bay Area with a wider selection, and more knowledgeable staff, is Jane's Beer Store in Mountain View. But most of their beers are sold warm. At Willows, about half are sold cold. For beer geeks like me, it's a little like Christmas on every visit. Will they have some new offerings from Crux up in Bend? How does the selection from San Diego breweries look today? Any special arrivals from the Alchemist in Vermont? (I snagged some Heady Topper a few months back). What about the baltic porters? (from actual Baltic countries). I sometimes have to hold back or pace myself; it's unusual if I spend less than $100 on a visit. Visits - nay pilgrimages - to TWM used to be fairly infrequent; maybe once a year. But with the shrinkage in selection at my local Whole Foods, and the increasing market inundation of fake microbrews (e.g. Elysium, 10 Barrel), I've lately found myself here more and more often to stock up. Came to the willows market on a Saturday morning hoping to get some bbq. Unfortunately the bbq wasn't ready (it was 7 am lol) so instead they offered to make me a sandwich. I said a breakfast sandwich was fine with whatever they recommended. He made me a egg bacon cheese sandwich on Dutch bread with a chipotle aioli sauce and let me just say this was the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had! Big shout out to Miguel and his coworker!!! This morning, I was biking to work for the first time when I realized I had a flat tire 20 mins into the ride. I ended up parking & locking my bike on the bike rack right outside this market to Uber the rest of the way. I was only able to return with my car to pick up the bike around 9pm & noticed a note placed on my bike (see in photo). During the day, my bike bag (&bike) were kept safe from a thief because of the kindness of these workers stepping in. they didn't need to step in at all, but it was so kind that they did. Miguel even loaded my bike into my car for me when I came to get it. These are the type of people that make this place feel like a community. I ordered a brisket plate for lunch. I asked for LEAN brisket. What they served me was so fatty. I'd say I could only eat 1/3 of the plate, since the rest was fat. The sides were good (potato salad & cole slaw). And the service was friendly. The brisket plate wasn't cheap, $20! $20 for 2/3 of fat is unacceptable. read more

Been coming here a lot since working close by.... Decent BBQ and sandwiches. I just tried the "Aftermath" today which is a Hot link sandwich with grilled onions, pickled jalepenos, pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo. It was Really really good. Next time I may go with no jalapeños as I found it too spicy towards the end and scraped them off. But if you can handle the heat it's well worth it. My 2nd favorite is the brisket sandwhich but sometimes I've noticed they give me too many burnt ends which can be a little tough. Other times it's amazing. Plus they got a good liquor selection with some hard to find bottles. Plus a good craft beer selection with sours and slushie style beers which my wife likes. read more

I must have accidentally deleted a previous review of the Willows Market. This is a neighborhood market on Willow and Middlefield in Menlo Park and a local favorite. The market includes a good grocery section, an excellent deli, and one of the best collections of craft beers in the area. The check out staff are nice to the customers, and I saw them helping elderly customers to carry the groceries to their cars. I remember there used to have a banner saying 1,001 craft beers, and I still come here once a while to check out their beer collection. read more

This is a review of their sandwiches only. When it comes to liquor and beer they are nearly impossible to beat in the area. Their sandos used to be awesome, but over the past year+ something changed. Now they are crazy expensive and just plain sub par and sometimes kinda gross. Every now and then a good one sneaks its way across the counter, but between skrimping on meat, grizzled cuts, and stale bread its a pretty rare occurrence. I wish they brought back some quality control because the rest of the store and the location are pretty great. Make Willows Great Again!!! read more

This is a great little hidden gem, market. I just happened to be driving by and saw a sign that mentioned, "shop local" as well as, a deli sign, so I decided to check er' out. This is a great little market that focuses on trendy, artisan health- very eclectic. They have a great selection of interesting drinks and snacks- a great deli. My sandwich was so good! They have a variety of wines and tons of interesting craft beers! This is a little neighborhood market with an extensive selection of sodas, beers, and snacks. The highlight for me is their deli counter which serves AMAZING sandwiches. Their brisket sandwich is to die for and their super BLT (BLT along with turkey and avocado) is also great. You can see (and smell!) their smoker in front of the store, prepping the brisket, tritip, and ribs. Only down-side is that the sandwiches are quite pricey, most are around $15. Once the Covid-pocalypse grocery shopping started, I decided to do all my shopping at my independently owned shop to do my part to help fortify small businesses' in my community from the upcoming crisis. On my list was cleaning supplies to donate to unhoused communities, and it really broke my heart to see my favorite store price gouging the neighborhood by charging $20 for a $5 essential product. The guys working in the shop seemed embarrassed about it, and didnt agree with managment deciding to treat customers in this way. I really loved this store, great wine selection, just the right groceries, and even a deli. I shop here a few times a week, and love the selection. Excellent locally made ice cream and baked goods, great selection of easy stuff like pasta sauces and snacks. I think the BBQ may even be famous, it sure smells like it. And all of the staff is cool. Until yesterday, my only complaint was the mushy bland ravioli in the deli case. I guess I shouldn't feel so loyal to my local store, they don't seem to feel the same way about the neighborhood. read more
