I called for an appt & asked the woman who answered the phone, who was their best hairstylist. She referred me to a gal & booked my appt. My hair was down to my rear & wanted it cut to shoulder length, with layers throughout. It had been quite a while since I had gotten my hair cut, so I was pretty nervous! I can't remember the woman's name who cut my hair, but she was an older woman who's station was in the center of the shop, right by the sinks. She told me she had been cutting hair for years & years, so I was a little more relaxed. After she had washed my hair, she proceeded to cut. When she was almost done, I could see that there weren't really any layers, just bangs & cut to my shoulders. I told her I wanted layers throughout & she said there was! I told her there wasn't, that the hair at the top of my head was down past my chin, again, she argued the point! Ok All I wanted was the $21.00 haircut, with a wash. I knew my hair wasn't cut to the way I had asked her & knew it wasn't going to be, so I just wanted to get out of there & get home to blow dry it to see how it looked. She then proceeded to say that she wanted to blow dry & flat iron it, so she could see the finished product. Says she likes to do this with all her clients. I said ok. When she was done, I said to her, see, there's no layers! Again she argued with me. lol The proof was right there staring back at me in the mirror! I just wanted to get the heck out of there! When she rang me up at the till, she said it would be $41.00. I said, how much? I told her I was here to get the $21.00 cut. She then said, well, you had a blow dry and the flat iron service on top of it. lol I told her that she was the one who wanted to give me those services so she could see her finished product. She said, well that's what you owe! I paid & got the hell out of there! When I got home, I washed my hair & blow dried it again. I have to tell you, I have NEVER IN MY LIFE gotten a more uneven hair cut!! She took her course in the 70's but I don't believe she's worked since!! Word of mouth is the best form of advertising & I have & will continue to do all of her advertising for free, to everyone who will listen! If this is their BEST hairstylist, I'd hate to have my hair done by anyone else there! DO NOT GO HERE PEOPLE, YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!!!

I have…read morenever come back I hope that grumpy hair stylist (old Asian lady) I hope no longer works here because I felt insulted by the hair stylist. I always have to shampoo before I go anywhere because I have a dry scalp condition. Even then it dries up real quick. Hair stylist lady just said wow "your hair is so dirty, do you even wash? Please clean your hair before you come now I have to clean my trimmers after I cut ur hair" like, do u not clean your trimmers? Well after that statement, she washes my hair then gives me a mediocre trim, I just wanted to get out of there. But I felt so insulted that, even to this day I still tell my social media and friends to not go there. The other staff seemed so friendly too when I walked in, but too bad 1 rotten apple spoils the bunch.

She was thoughtful, quiet, yet attentive, consistently making sure I was comfortable. The salon truly went above and beyond with their VIP treatment: snacks, drinks, and impeccable service. The only thing that I didn't like is how they kept adding extra things without my consent. Such as hair treatment however, they asked me about scalp treatment so that was ok. But she added hair treatment without letting me know first. So that was added to my bill. That's why it's at 4 stars instead of 5! Wow, so stoked I found a new and excellent hair salon close by. I walked in and made an…read moreappointment, the receptionist assigned Chen as my hair stylist. As I arrived, I was greeted and sat promptly. The staff kindly offered me water, chocolate and a small pound cake. I waited for about 10-15 minutes, Chen came over to do a consultation for me. He suggested butterfly bangs and a deep purple color based on my face shape and skin tone. I appreciated he took the price list over and told me according to my length, what the charge is going to be for coloring and cut, so I won't be blindsided by the charge. They are offering free hair treatment when you go for coloring now, so I had that and also opted for scalp treatment for extra protection. As Chen was applying the treatment on my hair, I was reading a book. He was so thoughtful that he asked me for my glasses, wrapped the legs with plastic wrap, so I can continue reading without getting my glasses dirty. When it's time to wash the dye, Chen gave one of the best massage hair wash. I've never had one with that deep pressure in Canada, honestly I would just go back for a wash and massage. After it's washed, again Chen was so thoughtful to bring me kleenex and q-tips, which none of the stylists in other salons had done that before. Once finished blow drying, Chen started cutting my hair. He is precise, quick and thorough. I was asking for his advice, and I appreciate how he provides honest opinion. He won't just say yes to whatever my idea is, or just for the sake of earning more money for unnecessary services. With hair treatment, coloring and hair cut, everything was done just under 3 hours. I was very happy with the color, cut, and the service throughout. He even provided me a couple shampoo and hair treatment samples before I go. All of that came down to just under $300 plus tax and gratuity. Very happy with Chen at Air Nova, I will highly recommend friends to go and I will most definitely return.
