On their website I selected any hairstylist for my appointment, which their website said was $70. Still expensive for a haircut but relatively reasonable for what I thought was a high quality and reputable salon. However this was not the case. I got there 5 minutes before my scheduled appointment, I ended up waiting 15 minutes after my appointment was scheduled for. Which is fine I get things happen, but once we started the haircut the stylist "washed" my hair for about 20 seconds. After that, we began the haircut, which lasted for about 30 minutes. They only used a razor, and I asked specifically for layers, which they didn't add just hacked away at it. My hair is uneven and shorter than what I asked for. When I went to go pay they charged me $90 plus tip. Which is fine if it was a quality haircut. For $100 I expect a quality experience and at the very least an acceptable haircut. read more

I don't even know where to start. This is the photo I brought in. I looked at so many bobs and this is exactly what I wanted. I've asked for this cut 3 other times and only once was it perfect (different salons). My issue is that I always mention the layers and nobody puts layers in. I made a point to tell Davy that. She seemed receptive. She went in with thinning shears and thinned out the underside. I was really happy about that because I have a lot of hair and I knew it was going to lay a lot nicer. The front did look nice. By the end of the appointment when she removed the cape, I was so excited with the end result of the front of my hair. I barely glanced at the back and when I did I wasn't super stoked but I figured it's going to look different once I style it myself anyway so no big deal. I go to pay and she wanted to upcharge me for a long cut instead of a medium cut like I was booked for. I had maybe 4 inches cut off the back and 3 off the front. Personally, I think it's stupid to charge differently for length, like it's all a haircut. You're cutting all of the hair regardless. Anyway I didn't say anything and she charged me $76 for this haircut. I gave her $100 bill and told her to keep the change. The next couple days go by and I had 4 people tell me how uneven the back was and said that I needed to get it fixed. So that's embarrassing. I've been trying everything I can to get this to lay right and it just looks awful. So I called and explained it to the front desk person at the salon and she booked me a 30 min appointment to fixed the back. A couple days go by and it's time to get this fixed and 20 mins before my appointment I get a call that Davy went home sick. Sick? At 6:40pm on a Friday night? But she can fix it tomorrow? So she isn't going to be sick tomorrow? I live 45 mins away and I was just a couple mins away from the salon when I got the call. I've been walking around with messed up hair for a week already that I paid $100 for. Like, I was already going to give her a chance to fix it and I would have gone back to her in the future. But then you want to cancel the appointment to fix my hair that you didn't do a good job cutting? I'm just sad now because I feel like I have to go pay someone else to fix this. I have visited honey salon approx 6 times to get my hair done over the last 2 years so feel I can write a fair, thorough, informative review that is well deserved. This salon is ran by an owner who clearly worked hard to build this amazing business. She cares about both her staff and clientele but it's evident that she requires her staff be well skilled, educated and prove that they know their way around hair. I love how the ambience is typically low key, instead of bright lights, blaring music and loud decor. It's down to earth, relaxing and modern. I have seen a few different stylists who I feel were both well skilled and knew their way around hair. I was always happy with my hair when leaving. HOWever then...I met AUTUMN who has been doing my hair for just over a year. She is absolutely awesome. I can't rave enough about her. She is heavily educated, skilled, extremely talented and brings a sharp eye to detail on what needs to happen to achieve the perfect cut Im wanting. I have had my hair chopped up/ruined a time or two, by going to other places in between for "trims", always having to go back to Autumn and beg her to fix the mistakes that had me unhappy and frustrated. I've finally accepted her as my "hair hero" and worth Every Single Penny and more. Having long, thick wavy hair has its challenges but Autumn can nail exactly the look i want with ease and I am so grateful for her. I booked online with this salon, and even found a "senior" stylist for my cut. I showed up and the salon is super cute, and I was excited! I showed my stylist Teddy what I wanted in a few pictures (textured long bob with bangs), and he said he understood and got to cutting. when I left it looked horrible! not at all what I asked for, no layers, no texture, and it was a $75 cut! I think this salon overall is good and there's some really talented stylists. However, I went to Kiva and was very unhappy with how my hair looked when I left. I had a bit of grow out from when I bleached my hair several months ago, and just wanted to blend the roots with the bleach blonde and tone the blonde to an icy lavender color. I left with a big chunk of yellow still in my hair and some patchy yellow spots at the roots. She also seemed to be rushing at the end when straightening my hair and the entire lower section was still curly. Also, at my consultation, she told me it would cost around $200, but I ended up paying over $350. For barely any bleach and some toner. Will not be going back to her. read more

I had a hair trim at this Honey salon that turned out to be a butch haircut...way too short and too thinned out. I shared my dismay with the manager, Ashley, and she politely offered me a credit and free service for my next visit. Since that offer I have called to check on the credit only to be told there was a problem with their system and she offered to send me a refund check. I gladly accepted her offer and two weeks later, still no check. It has been over a month and when I called two days ago to find out what the delay was, I was told Ashley was in a meeting and would call me right back. Still no call back. I thought they were operating in good faith, but I am sorry to say their client service for me has been very poor. Not very good public relations either. I was so nervous to find a new stylist, am extremely particular at how I want my hair, and hesitant in trusting someone who knows how to do blondes. Late to review but went in a few months ago for the best haircut of my whole life. I wanted something spunky and fun, really choppy and almost a little like a mullet, they brought me to Anna, an awesome human who worked literal black magic right there on top of my head. Awesome conversation, she checked in multiple times as we went and *actually listened* if I had critiques or concerns. I have had a lot of haircuts that ended up with my crying on the way home, but my experience here was amazing. Perfect, exactly what I wanted and I left wanting to come back again. I had an incredible experience with Liz at the Honey Salon today. They were able to fit me into their busy schedule last minute and I felt extremely welcome while there. Liz took the time to listen to what I wanted for my hair (blending in my previous balayage so it can grow out for a year without being touched and still look fabulous and a layered cut) and helped to explain to me exactly what she was doing so I would feel comfortable every step of the way. I got a really bad haircut at a salon in seattle. i wanted to treat myself since it's my birthday this weekend and walked out with completely botched hair so upset. i asked for layers and got staircases with shorter pieces everywhere and chunks missing, complete disaster. i've been to honey lots of times and always had good experiences, i saw ceili who i believe is an apprentice and she totally saved my hair. she was so sweet and made me feel very comfortable since i already have a hard time trusting people with my hair. she's magic!! u cant even tell there were chunks before. i cant thank her enough!! read more

I am so so so happy with the experiences I've had at Honey! The salon is absolutely beautiful and the environment is so friendly and welcoming. I've now seen Anna twice and have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say about her. Not only is she patient, understanding, and honest about getting clients the end result they want but she's just such a warm and welcoming human. On my first visit, I expressed that I wanted to go blonde but knew it'd be a project because I had dark box dye all over my hair. She was excited and honest about the steps we needed to take to get me there instead of discouraging like some other stylists I've seen in the past. Here's the thing, the stylists are amazing. However, first time clients are NOT warned about the abysmal parking situation nor are they given any information on how to find the salon. One rainy day, they took in the signs that are usually outside, and in the foyer, the signs were left out with their arrows pointing the wrong direction. I think they could really work on their customer service to new clients in this respect. It's hard to park and hard to know where to find the salon. I hope they can address this issue. read more

Great price. Went in for a dye job, but wasn't exactly what I wanted. I thought she was going to lighten my roots, but instead she just slapped the color on so my roots still look dark. It almost looks like I never dyed my hair since you can see the clear shift in color. It was something I could have done myself at home. Maybe I could have been more specific. Also, my hair is curly and the diffusers they have are bags not claws, so my hair was still wet and it grew after I left. And the products she used to help my curls didn't work for me. ...also she was late to the consultation (which made me late) and I was late to my hair appointment which she didn't like either. I booked my appointment to get my hair cut at Honey Salon online. Before my appointment I was nervous about my hair turning out jacked because I haven't had a haircut in almost eight months, and have never had my hair cut by someone other than myself since I've been wearing it curly. When my appointment rolled around and I got into the salon I was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere, receptionist, selection of reading material (BUST magazine) and coffee (from the Black Drop, my favorite coffee shop) was great! It was a huge change from my previous salon going experience at places like Gene Juarez, and sooooooo much better. Plus I had a short wait. My actual haircut included a scalp massage, good smelling products, styling, nice conversation, and a great stylist named LISA who knew how to work with curly hair. Not only did she give me a wonderful haircut, she also gave me styling tips, product recommendations, and really listened to how I wanted my hair cut. I'm new to town, and she also told me some great places to explore and eat. I highly recommend Lisa! I will definitely be getting my hair cut here in the future. read more

I had a blonde ombré which he perfectly blended up into the rest of my hair using the technique which he explained while he was doing it. I asked for a subtle sun kissed look and that is exactly what I received! Not only did I get dream hair, but Roland told me what to do to maintain it. All around me were people getting stunning hair dos- I saw lots of cool techniques and rad use of color. The place itself is so cool! Gorgeous paintings, beautiful product on display. I got my wedding hair done here by Amy Cozart. First bit of advice, they are booked out several months in advance - so make your appointments accordingly. This is not to be seen as a bad quality so much as it is the sign of an excellent, established salon which is in high demand. Second bit of advice (because I am not familiar with Bellingham), go early as it is street parking only and you might need to do a few loops and bring quarters as Bellingham meters don't take credit cards like Seattle. The salon is very happy to give you quarters in a pinch for this, though, which is a really nice touch. Now on to the hair - I made two practice appointments because I am a little bit of a nervous creature. Two are included in the wedding up do price. Amy recreated my Pinterest ideas perfectly on my hair in my practice appointment. I only desired a bit more fullness and she coached me through my first experience with extensions successfully to achieve the look I desired. This included purchasing them for my next appointment, getting them toned to match my shade of platinum, and sewing the clips on. I brought them back in to my second appointment and she cut them down to the length she needed for my up do. I love Amy because I am in my mid-thirties and Amy is a mature and sophisticated, intelligent, kind and beautiful woman. I did not in any way feel like I was getting my hair done by a kid. The clientele in the salon also all were very sophisticated looking women who take much respect in their appearance. I really loved the atmosphere of the place on all levels. Amy was delightful to talk to on all three appointments. She did not rush and she did an incredible job. She made me feel relaxed and happy and is just the type of stylist I would choose to spend 2 hours on my wedding day with. She was very focused on me. My hair was solid and beautiful and somehow it was not a nightmare to take out! The products they use are incredible - the hairspray holds but does not turn your hair into a cemented mess. Not something I really wanted to deal on my wedding night, but I had my hair out in 20 min or less. The salon is hands down the most beautifully lit space I have ever been in. Airy and light with the lights hanging from the ceiling above. Great for photos. Great for ambiance on your big day. Amy also recommended the lovely and talented Sarah Rorvig (with whom the salon has a partnership with) who ended up coming to do my makeup at the salon. Unfortunately I've given them a year and many attempts but after literal months of growing my hair back after one of their stylists cut it all off, a few days ago I went back to have some bleaching damage trimmed off and put into a style for growing it out... And all my hair was cut off again. Like all of it. I've never felt so ugly, and upon examining who did my hair a little bit more. It turns out she's an apprentice? But I'm paying full price. And the guy who cut all my hair off months ago? He wasn't a women's stylist at all. He was a barber. Which I didn't know because it wasn't listed anywhere prior to me booking with him and him cutting all my hair off. I even showed the two people up front. The picture I gave him versus the haircut he gave me and they both made a face and one of them kept saying, "Oh my god. No, no not really? He didn't do that based on that picture?" So I'm not the only person seeing the problem. Unfortunately after sending a polite email to the owner with the same images after her own staff confirmed how bad the cut was, I never heard back. So I'm doing the thing I've never done before in my life and I am giving this place a negative review just so people can understand... Maybe you're going to be paired up with a barber, maybe you're going to be paired up with an apprentice who has never done a cut like you're asking for before, and who won't tell you until afterwards when they've made a little whoopsie out of your head, and you're going to pay for it and you're going to be unhappy about it and then you're going to have to find a different salon. So I would just cut out the whole, getting a bad haircut part of it and just go somewhere with fully trained stylists who already know what they're doing. If you want to get a discount haircut from people who are learning, I would suggest going in eyes wide open to a beauty school. But since I wasn't aware that this was a beauty school, and I'm paying $80 for a short haircut, I would still suggest you just go to a beauty school. One of the worst haircuts I have ever received by their stylist Gabriel. No sense of style and didn't even cut all my hair. He just stopped cutting without styling the top. Terrible service. On top of that him and the other stylist talked about how much they need to learn about cutting hair and will be excited for the new dummy hair models to come in so they and the other stylists can practice more.
