My favorite pair of hiking pants were ripping along the seam and I needed it restitched. Chhuy was very easy to work with and did a great job! It cost $10 and she asked when I wanted to pick it up. I told her I was in no rush so she had me come back a week later. This is a home business and she has a little sign on the door in the garage. I needed a last min alteration on my coachella dress. I came in on a monday needing my dress for Wednesday, she was able to do it for me. She is the most understanding and nicest lady ever!!! Im a college student at ASU and i will be recommending her to everyone. On a side note, i did have to find the materials like fabric and lace but totally understandable. I had thrifted a gown from Goodwill for $15 and needed to get it fitted before my cousin's wedding. I called Chhuy to request a quote and she stated that she would have to see the dress first. Chhuy's business is run out of her home in a quiet neighborhood off of Rural. Her garage is open and there's a note asking that you knock before you enter. Her business has taken over the majority of her home, with a sewing station, changing station, and clothing that needs altering/has been altered. The home was a bit warm for a hot July day. I changed into the dress and Chhuy offered two ways of fitting the dress; the cheaper, easier version (as I explained I had thrifted the dress) or the longer and more expensive version. I chose cheaper, and to adjust the dress to fit my waist/back/neck, was $50. I've never been to a seamstress before so I can't speak to as whether that is a good deal or not- but also, I felt awkward saying no after I had already tried the dress on. I agreed, and Chhuy asked when I needed the dress by. It was about 3 weeks out and she agreed to have it completed two days before my trip. She took down my phone number and stated she would call me when it was ready. She asked for the $50 in cash but she also accepts Venmo. The Monday before my trip and I hadn't received a call- so I called and asked about the dress and she stated it was ready. I wondered how long ago it had been finished, but went to pick up the dress. I tried it on and the dress fit well. I couldn't tell where she had sewed the extra pleat to make it fit around my waist. She had forgotten to sew on the clasp on the neck, so she quickly sewed it on. I had a few shirts that I wanted to crop and she quoted them at $15. I spent $5 on the shirts so I was not willing to pay- I'll just messily crop them myself, lol! The side of bf's dress pants where the pocket was needed mending which she did for $20. She did call when the pants were done but didn't leave a voicemail. Overall, the quality is good but don't expect the warmest/friendliest customer service. read more

Got two items hemmed. It was quality work and the items were completed on time. Chuy was friendly. My only note is that she said she would call when they were done, however when I called to inquire about them she stated that they were already done and ready for pickup. So I didn't get that call. No real complaints though. Note: to eliminate any confusion when you're searching for the location is a home business literally located in her home. Walk into garage, knock on door that enters home, and you be let into a portion of her home dedicated for her business. I personally prefer supports local small businesses so this was no problem for me. read more

Chhuy's tailoring work is amazing!! I bought a jumpsuit online, and the area where the suit separated into pant legs was so low that it was 1) hard to move in, and 2) not good-looking. Chhuy recommended three different fixes for my jumpsuit: first, moving the pant legs up higher; second, hemming the pant legs to be shorter; and third, tightening the back of the jumpsuit so it was more flattering to my figure. I didn't need the jumpsuit urgently, so Chhuy told me to come back in 1.5 weeks to pick it up. When I picked it up and tried it on, I felt amazing in it!! As expected, the jumpsuit fit perfectly. Automatically felt like a bad B now that my jumpsuit was tailored especially for my body shape. I'm definitely taking more clothes to Chhuy to tailor! read more

I had a hole in the elbow of my suit jacket that needed to be patched. She mentioned to me a couple times that I probably needed a new jacket and the patch wouldn't look great, but I proceeded with getting it patched anyways. The jacket was done in a day and I can barely tell where the patch is (it is exponentially better than any patch repair I've had done at a dry cleaner). I called ahead to get a price and to see if my timeframe would be possible. I waited till the last minute to get a dress hemmed but it was only a raw hem with no liner so it just needed to be cut to the right length. On that call I said twice the wedding was that Saturday. She said fine and to come in. Didn't take my name or anything just come in now, hung up. I was not expecting this business to be run out of her house or for there to be no AC on both no big deal but some People might want to know. After she pinned the dress we discussed pick up and again I had to say several times I need to get this on Friday. Wedding is Saturday morning. We agreed I would pick it up Friday at 1pm. I then paid an extremely high "rush" fee. I don't really know since I never was explained or given a receipt. When I arrived at 1pm on Friday she looked at me like I was crazy and said "no pick up on Sunday" I said again the wedding is tomorrow. She told me to come back in an hour. So in an hour I returned late to get back to work from lunch and didn't have time to try it on to check the work. Once outside I looked at the hem and it was obvious she ether rushed through cutting it or her scissors need sharpening. It wasn't unwearable and the length was what we decided but the unprofessionalism really upset me along with the price for the work. If you don't need it right away I wonder if she would do better but I will not be going back. read more

It cost me $15 to have the hem of my pants altered. I think I better buy a sewing machine and learn how to do it myself. I used to do it when I lived with my mom using her sewing machine. It's not difficult to do and $15 is expensive. read more
