Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the DJ services for my wedding. Pre-wedding: Leading up to the event, Donnell was extremely responsive, professional, and kind over the phone and email. However, as the wedding got closer, I was surprised to learn that he didn't have any standard touchpoints or phone calls built into his process. For such an important vendor who needs to handle specific announcements, cues, and emceeing throughout the night, I found that unusual. I ended up creating a very detailed document outlining every cue and announcement and specifically requested a phone call to review it. I can't imagine how the day would've gone without that call--because even with it, several cues were still missed. Ceremony: The microphone cut in and out throughout my vows, even though I had asked for a sound check beforehand. I also asked for him to start music at a specific cue (the officiant would say a particular sentence and exit the platform we were standing on). He missed that cue and we stood there in several long moments of silence. Luckily the officiant was my best friend and was still able to maneuver the proper timing for us so that we kissed at the right moment in the song. Reception: During the reception, I asked for a surprise dance floor opening after taking a large group photo with all the guests. We went over my vision several times, but he completely botched it. Then, the microphones weren't working well for the speeches. Throughout the rest of the night, his energy was completely flat. To give him the benefit of the doubt, I did have a smaller crowd, and people weren't as eager to dance as I expected. But I felt he didn't read the room well or adjust accordingly. He played several songs that weren't even on my "play" list, rarely spoke on the microphone, and didn't make any effort to encourage guests to dance or stay engaged. End of the night: I had planned a "last dance of the night" for all our guests, but about fifteen minutes before 10PM, people were already gathering their coats and leaving. Instead of jumping to the final song or encouraging guests to stay, he said nothing. I ended up having to personally ask people to stay and send my maid of honor to tell him to play the last song so we could have that final dance. Again, just didn't read the room. Communication and attitude: Whenever I tried to give feedback during the night about music choices, he came across as rude and dismissive. While I understand that it was a challenging crowd, as the bride who knows the guests best, I wish he had been more receptive, friendly, and enthusiastic. Overall, if you're more of a type B bride who doesn't have any specific cues or requests for him, and you have an easy crowd who you know will dance (I thought my guests would - I was surprised - makes me wonder if it was them or him) then you might be fine. But overall I would say I got what I paid for as he was the cheapest DJ option we found; I regret not splurging on a DJ. Luckily our wedding day was still beautiful, but it was definitely in spite of the DJ services. read more

Wow, this guy was amazing. We had great communication back and forth and he listened to all of the request/songs we wanted and didn't want. He knew exactly how to run a wedding dj and keep the appropriate music from food, to entrance, to dancing. I highly recommend this guy. My wife and I did a tea ceremony and I had asked for an additional speaker and microphone. He said no problem and even asked if we want additional background music for it. Everyone at the wedding came up to my wife and I to compliment us on the dj and his work. Overall, a nice guy, great to work with, and great bang for the buck. Recommendation: don't look elsewhere. We used him for our wedding. When talking to him prior to the event he was polite and personable and easy going but when it got to the wedding day he showed up and was not approachable and had a very different demeanor. He did a good job during the ceramony but leading into the reception his choice of music was a little off (playing dance music during dinner at a loud volume). Furthermore, once the dance floor opened, he wasn't playing the majority of the requested songs, even though they were approved by the bride. He was requested to lower the volume of the music as multiple children found the volume to be too loud, which was done for one song then he raised the volume back up. read more

I hired Chi Dr Productions for my wedding this month and I am far from happy. First, the schedule for the wedding was not followed. We had to let him know that the bridal party was ready to be introduced. He forgot to call out tables for the dinner service and I, as the bride, had to walk table to table to let them know. He had scheduled slow dancing music for an hour and a half after dinner, which is not what my husband and I wanted at all. All in all we had to always go up and ask for something. Even with us dragging friends ad family to dance the music was not there to keep the party going. He didn't speak at all during the night and while he is great with communicating via email or text he just couldn't keep the party alive. No one wanted to dance and people even left early because of it. I felt like I was at a funeral rather than my wedding. read more

We hired Donnell through an online service for a 12 year old's birthday party. He had positive reviews, but I wasn't entirely sure what to expect - I'm glad to say we were 100% satisfied! He had both the current songs and slightly older songs that the kids recognize. And, he took requests from the kids. He was very reasonable on the price, came early to set up, and didn't need to take a break at all through the entire party. Something I really appreciate about him is his professionalism: he's calm, collected, focused, attentive, and punctual. Donnell was also able to adjust to last-minute changes that included doing an outdoor and an indoor DJ setup to accommodate our walk-down music, cocktail hour, and reception. Donnell is truly a music lover: I gave him two or three artists that I like and within a week had written up a playlist sample with a ton of artists and songs that meshed so well and really fit the vibe of the wedding. He knows what he's doing and he will really listen to what you're looking for. Donnell holds himself to the highest standards of professionalism and love of his craft. I organized my wedding all by myself and gave Donnell next to no guidance except for a song list and a few links. I also gave him a last minute list of names for intros. He was a real pro and executed everything flawlessly. We also had our live band drop out for our ceremony and he came swooping in to the rescue playing all of our songs from the loft of the barn into the field with amazing sound quality.
