The owner recommended a basic assessment first since this was a bike I just got from a friend. With the assessment he filled my tires, checked for leaks, adjusted my pedal and handlebar tightness, and oiled my chain up. He also taught me how to shift gears and pointed out my bracks were switched (right hand controlled front). In the end he also lowered my seat for a better fit. The assessment was great at ensuring my bike was ride ready and not dangerous. He also recommended what would be good follow up and pricing if I wanted a more thorough tuning for problem areas that he showed me during the assessment but wasn't pushy about it. I was back home with my bike before in under 30mins. Great price transparency. Owner had great knowledge of bikes and brands. Also has free automatic tire pump and recommended I drop by every 1-2wks to keep my tires plump. I'm excited to get back to riding with this new bike!

I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service I received at Big City Bikes on Ashland Ave…read more I came in with my son to pick up his bike after paying $680 in repairs, so I expected the bike to be properly adjusted and ready to ride. As soon as we checked it, we noticed the seat was too high. The employee made the adjustment, but his attitude made it seem like our request was an inconvenience. We then took the bike outside to test it and immediately noticed the handlebars were way too low. When I asked if he could adjust them, he told me he was busy taking care of another customer and that he "couldn't just drop what he was doing." The problem is, we were the only customers there, and when my son and I walked in, he was sitting down. After spending $680 on repairs, I don't think asking for a couple of basic adjustments before leaving with the bike is unreasonable. More importantly, there was no reason for the dismissive attitude. A customer picking up a bike after a significant repair bill should at least be treated professionally and given a bike that is properly adjusted for them. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend Big City Bikes. The customer service was horrible and completely overshadowed the work we paid for.

I don't know much about bikes and i wanted a new handle or possibly grip tape and the guys there answered all my questions about wether I could change the brakes on my bike. I ended up buying grip tape and one of the guys even showed me how to put tape on properly. When I got home it was easy peasy to do! I dunno I liked it is all. Will go back for all my bike stuff. Worth a check if you ever in the west loop or call ahead! They have like everything there! Hybrid bikes are low supply so check if u looking for a new bike
