I had such an amazing time over the weekend with the owner Liz. First, I really appreciated her excellent communication throughout the process. She sends helpful email notifications leading up to the photoshoot so I knew exactly how to prepare, helpful tips, how to get there, additional services, etc. This made shooting the day of go so smoothly and such an easy process. I had no issue finding her studio its conveniently on the 1st floor in a really cute neighborhood and free street parking! Secondly, photoshoots in general can be nerve racking when you're meeting someone for the first time and visiting their space. She was so warm and welcoming and the space itself is intimate I felt very comfortable. It felt like I was having a fun photoshoot with a girlfriend! She has a really cute room behind these gorgeous barn doors for you to set up aka change, use any of her props, salon chair and big mirror to do hair/makeup, powder room, drink refreshments, etc. She also has a collection of black patent leather stiletto heels that you can wear in a variety of sizes. I used a pair last minute because I couldn't resist and they worked perfectly! Third, she was great in telling me how to pose. She also was very receptive whenever I mentioned the look or "image" I was going for. She made sure to chat with me and modified the set up as needed in order to achieve that which was great. I had an incredible experience at Chicago Boudoir. Liz is amazing and so talented. At the time of m appointment, I was experiencing one of the most difficult times in my life. I almost canceled the appointment but I am so glad I didn't. Working with Liz for a boudoir photo shoot was exactly what I needed to deal with all the pain and grief I was experiencing. Liz immediately made me feel welcome and relaxed giving me a brief tour of her space (which is quaint and lovely) and overview of the shoot before the hair and makeup artist arrived. Liz actually works with one of my absolute favorite makeup artists in the Chicago area, Kate Johnson, so I was super excited to get to see her and work with her. I trust her with m hair and makeup and have worked with her before so this was an extra bonus for me. During the shoot, Liz was such a great director. I've never really been in front of the camera and felt clueless. Thankfully, Liz gives the best directions, modeled poses for me, and totally made me feel gorgeous and empowered. I really had a lot of fun throughout the entire shoot and couldn't wait to see the photos. Liz already had all of the images for me to view shortly after we finished shooting and was in such awe of her work. I literally had to do a double take on several images because I couldn't believe they were actually of me. I truly loved them. She also offers some really great products for purchase to easily share your images that are of the highest quality. They make a truly great keepsake. Liz was just as quick sending me the digital files of all the images that I could easily download to my personal computer to keep forever. I can't express enough how wonderful of an experience the Chicago Boudoir photo shoot was for me. I think every woman should experience a beautiful boudoir shoot at least once in her life. It's so self-empowering, especially when you have someone like Liz directing everything. I will always remember my day at Chicago Boudoir and love that I have the images to use forever. I cannot wait to gift some of the images to my live-in boyfriend. I know he is going to be so surprised and love them so much. I'm actually having one of my favorite images put on a mug that you can only see when you pour hot liquid into it.... It is black with a heart shaped handle. I started following Chicago Boudoir on Instagram last year and loved the tone of Liz's work. Wanting to get some shots done for awhile but not feeling that great about myself, I kept putting it off. However, last fall brought some great changes and so I booked a session in the beginning of the year. When I booked I explained that I am always happy and smiling in pictures and just a goofy fun person in general so for my shoot I really wanted to show a different side of me. I bought a few corsets to wear, however, as it got closer to my shoot I decided that I was not going to cover up like that...it was time to "own myself". So I went with 2 different bras and thigh highs...and also decided to do a topless/implied nude as well. For someone with bad body image her whole life this was a big step because I normally would want to cover up, but I was determined to face my fears. Oddly the day of my shoot I was not nervous at all and the minute I walked in the studio I felt so comfortable. For me, walking out in front of anyone in just a bra and panties is scary but I didn't even feel any hesitation. We shot 3 looks: the 2 bras and then topless. It was so much fun and by the time we were done I wanted to do it all over again. Liz was SO encouraging and made me feel like superstar! Afterwards came the scary part for me: seeing the proofs. This made me more nervous that the entire shoot because I was afraid I would not like how I looked. I held my breath as Liz pulled up my pics and I almost cried. I kept saying " I can't believe that's ME" Liz knocked every shot out of the park! Usually when I get my pics taken (just casual ones) I want to filter the heck out of them to look thinner or whatever. I can honestly say that I didn't see ONE picture that needed that much editing (outside of the usual evening out skin tones etc) to make me like it. Liz got every good angle and captured the mood of the pictures that I wanted. I was so elated that I barely remember driving home because it was such a wonderful, rewarding afternoon. Once I did get home, things started settling in and I cried because it was so incredible to think that someone could bring that side out in me and make me look and feel so beautiful. If you are considering booking a session and really not sure, do NOT hesitate! I wish every woman could feel as wonderful as I felt during this shoot. Its empowering and so amazing to see yourself at a different angle and through someone else's eyes. Liz is truly a gifted photographer who brings out the beauty in every woman. Everything about my experience here was amazing. I don't think I can say enough good things. Liz was awesome. I felt totally prepared. As a planner, I very much appreciated everything she provided, from what to wear to where to park.
