Since the restaurant is on the smaller side, our group was split between two booths across from each other--not the most ideal for conversation, but understandable given the space. This is definitely not the quality of food this place has had over the close to 30 years we've visited. It didn't even smell of pizza entering. The pizza we ordered was thin crust and it came to the table greasy as all grease. It didn't smell like pizza nor taste like it either. The manager said it looked as usual to him, said the cheese was making the pizza greasy, what? The salad bar was still good so that is all we ended up eating and leaving. Was comped the pizza and asked if we wanted to take it home- not sure why we would want to take it home to only toss in the trash. Never seen this manager before, again the ingredients changed on this place, I'm sure due to the cost of everything today they may be seeking lesser valued items and it sure tastes like it. We were seated quickly and ordered the buffet on a Sunday afternoon. The thin crust pizza on the buffet was REALLLLY good but the Chicago style actually wasn't anything to write home about. my family and I used to go here often, it's been awhile but we figured we'd go back for dinner as it had been awhile since we had it. When we came in we were seated quickly however our waitress took a loooong time to get to us to ask what we wanted to DRINK. We understand when its busy it can be difficult to get to everyone however it wasn't packed whatsoever. then we ordered 2 pizzas and when they came they looked awful. it looked old and gross. The sausage, pepperoni and mushroom pizza looked the worse it looks like the person who applied the toppings must have been blindfolded. I mean seriously, all the mushrooms were in the MIDDLE and NONE one the end. My kids had a plain cheese pizza and even that was so over cooked. this was very disappointing to us as we were really loooking forward to eating here again. I called on Sunday afternoon, 2pm to be exact. I inquired about a reservation as there were 9 people in my group. I was told to just come on in as no reservation was needed. It was following my two grandson's wrestling match so we were hungry. My daughter in law arrived 1st. Upon entering and requesting a table for 9, she was immediately shut down. She was told she could not be seated as they were closing at 3pm. It's now 245 pm and other patrons are dining in. She informed them that her mother in law (me) called ahead . They lied and said yes, we told her we're closing at 3pm. After going back and forth about it, they finally decided to to seat her. I arrived 10 minutes later and was brought up to speed. I hate to play the race card here, but why would we be denied service and lied to about closing time? Especially after other non-Black people were being seated. Had it not been for the fact that we drove 2 hours to the tournament at 6 am, the kids were famished and tired.... I would have just left. So disheartening that we had to experience this. Do better!! The best thing about this place is the $2 ice cold domestic draft beer served in a frosted mug. The menu pretty much focuses on the lunch and dinner buffet. It's a fantastic deal for lunch at seven bucks but as the old saying goes' you get what you pay for' applies here. There are several varieties and combinations of pizza offered. Thick or pan and thin, a pasta bar, a very weak salad bar and soup. Buffet pizza is always better when it's hot and not sitting under a heat lamp for a half hour. The pasta buffet was just noodles and red sauce, very lame. The salad bar choices were very limited, no chicken for example, but did have an excellent ranch dressing. The soup was their version of Italian wedding soup and I loved it, but I love pretty much any kind of soup so I may not be the most objective when it comes to soup ratings. Great service but next time I'm in Bourbonnais I'll look elsewhere. read more

Just went to Chicago Dough for a lovely pizza buffet run with mi familia last week. Since I haven't reviewed since 2011, I gotta give them some love again. Other reviewers may be accurate in that you only, truly appreciate Chicago Dough if you grew up with it. Maybe they're dead on, but I grew up with it so that explains it. Although, my husband never had it until he started dating me and he likes it a lot too - although he doesn't have a sick obsession with it like I do. The pizza buffet is always the way to go. You can go 11-1 for lunch during the week or on Tuesday nights. They also have it on special occasions like Mom's & Dad's Day and some other random holidays. The pizza buffet includes a decent salad bar, pasta, pizza and my brand new discovery: dessert pizza. Can you believe I've been eating here for 15+ years and I never had their dessert pizza? I want to get back all of that time we (me and the dessert pizza) lost. I told my mom that I wanted to trade in my husband for the scrumptious apple pizza and of course, as moms do, she went and told everyone in the restaurant. I was half kidding, half serious because the dessert pizza WAS that good. Our waiter was great and put up with my overly embarrassing family with a big smile while I tried to crawl beneath the floor boards to escape. The service is one of the best things about this joint. Went here with my parents to try the buffet.. Majority of the pizza was barely warm... My mom asked for them to put her pizza in the microwave for 14 seconds... They came back 5 minutes later and still weren't really warm. They also charge a whopping 2.50 for drinks which isn't included in the buffet. So that adds up quick for a family to think they are getting a cheap meal. The couple pizzas that were actually hot weren't too shabby. Maybe I hyped this place up too much based on the other reviews, but I wasn't overly impressed. The smothered beef which looked great, was nothing exceptional and tasted more like a Philly steak with an inch of melted cheese than an Italian beef. It was a healthy portion and filling, just not what I was expecting. The main reason for the two star review of this place was the service. I don't know if everyone who works there had their asses kicked before coming in tonight, but no one smiled. Seriously, not the host who sat tables, not the sullen guy who worked the cash register, not the wait staff. It was like I'd walked into a meeting for the clinically depressed. If you hate your job, quit and find something you enjoy.
