The removal and replacement of the piston was wisely planned in advance and the part pre-ordered for custom manufacture. Colley's technicians neatly mustered their tools and materials, protected the carpeting, safely blocked the work area, and gave a progress report. The elevator inspection was also wisely planned. Fortunately, there were no problems with the pit or the piston hole, and this could only be verified once the crew was down there and extracting the old piston in sections. The happy result was the elevator was back in service well before the best-case estimated completion date! Thank you, Colley Elevator!!!

I'm a property manager and have worked with hundreds of vendors and their service is absolutely terrible. Mechanics don't show up the same day even when you authorize overtime. The work isn't completed properly so there are call backs. Paperwork isn't properly kept. Billing is a mess. Even their survey links to let them know what you think about their service doesn't work.

The woman on the phone said a tech would come out and diagnose the problem quickly (usually within 15 minutes) and let us know if the problem could be fixed. The tech poked around the elevator and never let us know if the problem was fixable on the spot. Only after 2 hours did he say he could not fix the problem and would need to order a new part and come back later to install the part. Also, during the 2 hours, I asked the tech if he had an extra key to open the locked door in an emergency and he looked in his truck for 15 minutes to no avail. (15 minutes may not sound like a long time, but when the company was charging me $224/hour for labor that 15 minutes cost me $56!!!!!) Now comes the expensive part and an example of how this company does business. I received a quote for a tech to come out and install the needed part and was told it would cost me AN ADDITIONAL $775!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called another elevator company for a quote and informed them of the problem and they gave me a quote of $370!!! That's right, Mid American wanted to charge me AN EXTRA $405 for no reason!!!!! The other company came out and installed the $32 part and the elevator is working again and the final bill came out to $357, which was cheaper than what they quoted. The part only cost $32, which means Mid American wanted to charge me $743 FOR LABOR apparently!!! This is a horrible company. NEVER use them!!!! They just want to steal your money!!!!
