Installed the pipe across our basement window so can't finish the basement without having to move the pipe. We even told them the whole reason we were doing radon mitigation is to finish the basement. We nicely asked them to move the pipes and even agreed to pay extra $300 for them to move it, a mistake THEY made. However, the scheduling was such a mess. Nikki doesn't know how to schedule a "fix" job and sounded so irritated on the phone. She said she was gonna look into it. And then Mike called, and said to ignore Nikki, and there's nothing wrong with the position of the pipe because it's in the soffit. My husband said but it's in the basement, did he call the wrong person? Mike insisted that he called the right person three times, said you are "Ryan Hung" right? Finally my husband was like are you sure this is our address? He paused and hang up. Then finally Chuck called and insisted that they've done nothing wrong, they won't budge on the price or dates for fixing a mistaken THEY made, for all this nightmare and hassle and confusion they've caused us, and their internal scheduling mess is somehow our problem. Pretty shocking to be completely honest. Let's talk about the initial installation. They showed up on time, did the work albeit the lack of consideration when doing the pipe! Our radon level only went down by 1 point but it's something. What's also weird was that we had our own radon measuring device, and they turned it off without telling anybody about it. Maybe it would've been better if someone at least explained that they were gonna touch or turn off our own monitor before actually doing it? Theres a lot of chemical smells after it's first done, which was expected so we avoided the basement for a while and tried to vent it out. Otherwise, I personally have no other complaints about it so far. What a shame that this was the result. Worst customer experience I've had in years - they will make you pay for their mistakes and blame you for their own miscommunication. I had Midwest Radon Services install a radon mitigation system at my in-laws' house on May 29th for ~$2000. The good news is that it worked as advertised, according to our radon detector. Everything after that left a bad taste in my mouth. To begin with, I had explained to the estimator, Mike Torres that we were planning on finishing the basement, which is why we wanted to make sure that the radon levels were safe. We shook hands and scheduled the installation. Surprisingly, when we visited a few days later, we found that Midwest Radon had installed the pipe directly in front of a basement window well. There was just no way to drywall our way out of it, unless we wanted a soffit that extended past the upper frame of the window. I called Midwest Radon to see if they could work with us to move it a few inches up. I was dismayed to find that they were going to charge $300+ to move the pipe. I understand needing to pay your people, but many companies are willing to work with us on any errors or tweaks on recent jobs. Midwest Radon was firm on the price. Technically, we weren't onsite during the installation, my in-laws were, so I was willing to overlook it. A new estimate was sent over and we sighed and paid the deposit. We heard nothing for over a week until we suddenly received an email confirming our appointment on a day when we had a serious medical appointment. I emailed Chuck, the owner, about the conflict. Cue email confirming our appointment on another busy day. There was no discussion involved. I emailed again and Chuck told me to call Nicki in order to schedule. That's where it gets extremely bizarre. I called Nicki, but she was unable to schedule me for some reason and said that she would need to call me back. After we hung up, the original estimator, "Mike" called me, or at least that was the number I had saved in my contacts. He told me that I could just schedule with him and ignore Nicki. Just then, Nicki called back and had to juggle two calls. Nicki again tried to schedule me on the same two days they had suggested earlier. Confused, I switched back to "Mike" to give him an opportunity to explain who I should schedule with. "Mike" again told me that I should just tell Nicki to hang up and tell her I was talking to him and he could get me scheduled. He also didn't know who I was or what I wanted. Then made some statements that made me think he was thinking of someone else, like that he was "just at my house this morning" (which I hope he was not). I told him that he was confusing me with someone else and he _repeatedly_ told me that no, in fact, *I* was the one who was confused. I gave him the address and he started to sound doubtful for the first time. I was getting nowhere with "Mike" who was telling me over and over again that I was wrong so I hung up and tried to call Nicki back again. I explained to Nicki that not only was I displeased with the communication, but my displeasure outweighed my willingness to pay for a mistake that Midwest Radon had made in the first place, so I was going to hold off on scheduling. Chuck called me and I tried to explain that I had a bad experience with the miscommunication. He kept blaming me for it, saying "that's what happens when you talk to too many people." Then when I said that I had been talking to Mike, he told me I was wrong and that I had been talking to him. He also said that they "dealt with a lot of people." I didn't hear an apology for my experience whatsoever, just that I was being blamed for their inability to communicate with each other. I told him that organization was their responsibility, not mine as a customer and he told me that that was "insulting." I tried several times to disengage peacefully after repeatedly being told I was in the wrong. He had lost the sale, so why continue to harangue me? I ended up saying "I hear that you deal with a lot of people - you're going to deal with one less" and hung up. read more

My Radon levels were higher than I liked, so I contacted a couple companies to inquire about a radon mitigation system. Out of the three companies I contacted for a quote only Midwest Radon came out physically to discussed my options. The other two companies just gave a quote over the phone, which ended up to be higher. Mike, the gentleman that came out was very professional. Mike helped me design a system that I would be happy with, and that would work for my home. The day of install, I was contacted by the installers prior to their arrival. Upon arrival they went over in detail the plan of execution of the work to be done. However, we ran into some unforeseen issues so the original plan for my system had to be changed last min. Throughout the process Carlton and Dave were very helpful and honest with their professional opinion with my options, they were very patient and professional and answered all my questions. I never felt pressured to do anything or felt rushed. At the end, the new system actually cost me less than the original system because of less piping. The customer service I have received from this company is out of this world. I believe Midwest Radon genuinely wants to make sure people are safe and happy with their system. The respect the installers had for my property isn't common. I believe the work area is cleaner now than it was before they started haha. Describing my unpleasant experience with Midwest Radon Services. We installed radon mitigation system using Midwest Radon Services on 9/22/2023. When they first installed the radon mitigation system they didn't place the tube that flush my water softening system into the sump! Luckily, I checked the system the next day only to see that almost half of my finished basement was drenching wet. I was late to work since I was trying to remove as much water as I could. When I contacted them they tried to blame it on my set up. Eventually, they sent non-professional people to fix the issue, who told me that i should hire a carpenter if i wanted to have it done professionally. Anyway, they did what they could even though every time i look at it I can not not cringe. At that point, i decided to let it go and not review them badly. But recently, the manometer started showing that the fan isn't pulling vacuum. So, it's not working properly. I contacted them multiple times and left multiple voicemails and still no response. I called to get an estimate for radon mitigation since my levels are still high even though a mitigation system was installed a year ago right before we bought this house. Thorough, patient, friendly, knowledgeable and best of all MRS saved me a lot of money! A survey of my home was conducted and because of the thorough investigation, MRS discovered that my home was very unusual by the fact that it has five separate foundations. This was an opportunity for someone to sell me five mitigation systems, but MRS was able to figure out a way to mitigate using only one system by using abandoned pipes from the old furnace. I would recommend MRS to anyone in need of mitigation services. If all tradesman were as pro as MRS, the world would be in a much better place!
