I have an old Chicago house that's probably about 110 years old…read more I used Chicago Window & Door Solutions to replace wood windows from the 1960s that had stopped working and several vinyl windows (8 years old) that had started to fall apart. I was really mad about the vinyl windows because the former owner had installed them pretty new, but they literally were about to fall out of the wall. We had to lock them to keep them in place. The previous owner had the original windows replaced, but the installer of the vinyl windows did not insulate around the frame and cold air kept leaking in. The wood windows would rattle on a windy day. I found out about Chicago Window & Door Solutions through a recommendation from another contractor who was repairing my original wood windows - he said he wouldn't work with anyone else - so that tells you something! Sue & Greg came out to meet with us, took measurements and talked about our options. They install Marvin windows. Know that they aren't the cheapest option. For that you can go anywhere, but know in about 8 years, you're going to be replacing them. But I found that they listened to what we were looking for - which for me was energy efficiency as a top priority. I liked that there was the chance to get a wooden interior on the windows. It allowed us to match the stain on sill and border opening - so now these windows look like they belong and do not look like replacements. We opted to stain the windows ourselves and they gave suggestions of how to do it. More importantly, they came out twice (next day!) when we had questions/concerns. Justin came to do the install and he removed and installed six windows and fixed a sill in a day and a half - plus he cleaned up after himself! If you've ever had workmen come into your house, you know what a mess they can leave. I am really happy with the new windows. They are beautiful, they are much more energy efficient than what I had and really block out the noise. I live on a two-way street in Chicago & they have made the house much quieter than the windows I had before.

The office reached out to me to schedule about a month after I accepted the bid, with a date/time advised by them. Installer came at chosen time, only to state he could not go on roof due to snow. He then rescheduled and returned however halfway into the job, he needed a longer drill bit so called for another installer to bring it. No 2 came and advised that there was no need to "cut the rafter" which was news to me and no need for a longer drill but that another piece of tunneling needed to be ordered. 1st installer returned about a week later with 3rd installer only to state "it might be too cold to get up on the roof today" His helper then stated no, we can do it and a couple of hours later job done. That night the night light in the tunnel was flickering so we gave it another night to charge only to have an overnight disco in our tunnel! NSS contacted and 2nd "no don't cut the rafter installer" returned to remove the nightlight to take it and "have a fiddle with it" to see if he could fix it-a new product should not need repairing! Last night it flickered again however I am not dealing with another visit from NSS- my husband can take a look at it. All in all, not a good experience and I wish I had gone with a different company due to the disorganization and mixed messaging from NSS installers.

He asked that I send pictures, etc. I did everything requested and he kept promising me that he would set up an appt and informed me of what the price of the repairs would look like. I was completely fine with the fee. I just wanted my door repaired. After that one conversation, NOTHING. I kept calling, leaving messages and texting-- no reply. One time I called, he picked up, and asked me to resend the pictures; then stated ( as he did before), that he would get back to me to set up an appt. I called to follow up, and as usual, Mr Brighton did not answer or reply to any of my voice or text messages. Very disappointing. I spent a lot of money with this company when I purchased a new door AND replaced all my windows on my entire home. I did not deserve this kind of treatment after being a loyal customer. I do not recommend this company based on my experience described above. Very disappointing. I do not recommend this company to do business with.

You need to know exactly where there office is based out of now. In essence, you go to there office directly if you decide to use them. I can not trash Brighton because my work did get done . It was an excellent job done. However, if you are a little old lady or man and can not make sure you don't have someone take your money and disappear. You should probably go somewhere else.
