I had a very frustrating experience with this company. I initially scheduled an appointment several months ago, but they canceled at least three different times--always just a day or two before the appointment. They finally came out on a Friday and assessed my sliding doors. The technician told me I needed two screen doors, two sets of rollers, and a guider, and that one of the doors was lopsided due to alignment issues. He quoted me a total of $2,500, which I felt was extremely high. After doing my own research, I contacted Andersen (the manufacturer of my doors) and found that the actual cost of the materials--including the two screen doors, rollers, and guide--was $950 total. G-A-L-R-O-N was charging $675 PER screen door, which is more than a 100% markup. That would leave $1,500 just for labor--for a job that involves popping in and out fairly simple components. Needless to say, I chose not to move forward with them. I would not recommend this company to anyone based on my experience with the repeated cancellations and the extremely inflated pricing. Avoid working with this company at all costs. I called several door companies to get rough estimates on pricing and availability for a screen door. When I spoke to a rep at Galron they said that for what I was looking for, I should expect around $300-$600 for a basic (wood or aluminum frame) screen door but they would still need to come out to do measurements and confirm this rough estimate to give me a more accurate quote. The first appointment they had that also fit our schedule was 3 weeks out. I booked it. They gave me a timeframe of 1pm-3pm. When I called the day before to confirm, they said they'd be there between 11am-1pm. Well, good thing I called and checked. The next day they called at 9:30 am to say they were on their way and would be there at 10am. Okay, fine. The service person came, took measurements and within 30 minutes sent over a quote. I was shocked to see a $1,600 quote for a storm door. I called them that afternoon to ask why it was so high and they explained it was the quote for a storm door. I told them that I did not need a heavy duty storm door just a simple screen door. The gentleman said he would talk to the service manager to get a quote for a screen door. No response. I call them the following week and send a follow up. Same response "we will talk to the service manager and get back to you with a quote for the screen door". No response. Called back 2 days later "we need to talk with person who took the measurements and we will get back to you". WHY? He literally noted the door measurements on the quote (the quote for a storm door). Finally, 4 hours later I get a call back saying they will only do a storm door. WHY DO YOU HAVE SCREEN DOORS ON YOUR WEBSITE AND WHY DID YOU TELL ME THAT YOUR COMPANY CAN MAKE/INSTALL SCREEN DOORS?!?! If I had known, I could have moved forward with this project weeks earlier (with another provider) and already had a screen door. I am so happy I contacted Galron Sliding Doors. My Sliding door was very difficult for me to open and close. I have Multiple Sclerosis and that makes things more difficult. The service tech showed up on time. I was going to be coming from work for my lunch time at work to have this done. That is why communication was very important. My townhouse has a stupid number of sliding glass doors - basically every room has at least one, and they're all wacky custom sizes. All were sticky and drafty AF, since they were all original to the house, which was built in '79. We were dreading having to replace them all after doing one, which cost thousands. He was able to service 5 of them in an afternoon with new hardware, rollers, and weatherstripping, for a fraction of what it cost us to replace just one of the doors. I contacted Galron because I had two sliding screen doors on my deck that needed to be either repaired or replaced. The doors appeared to be structurally sound, so I was happy when Galron repaired them with new screens and rollers instead of trying to sell me new doors. It wasn't until the doors were repaired and back on track that it became clear that one of the doors was a bit warped, so no amount of adjustment could bring the doors together as perfectly as I wanted. I certainly could have used the doors in their repaired condition, but aesthetically the results were not satisfactory to me. I was bummed. Now I changed my mind. Instead of repair, I wanted to have the doors replaced. I thought I might lose the money I had paid for the repair, and that upset me, but I expressed my disappointment to Galron anyway. To my surprise, Galron agreed to work with me. They told me they wanted their customers to be satisfied with their service and offered to credit the amount I had already paid for the repair towards the purchase of new doors. I thought the offer was incredibly generous and I accepted. A week later I had beautiful sliding screen doors. They are perfect and I am delighted. However, that's not the only reason I am so pleased with Galron. Brandon, one of the technicians who worked on the screen doors, pointed out that one of the sliding storm doors was off kilter in its track. He told me that was because the rollers at the bottom of the door were broken. I knew that door was drafty, and now I knew the reason why. I asked Brandon to repair it and two days later it was done. Paid $800+ for a guy that said the weather strip he had was too big and the door would not shut if used. Put on some new rollers but in the process removed bottom stripping or something without replacing cuz now water leeks in through bottom when raining. The wind whistles in just as bad. We hired Galron to replace a very old sliding glass door to our deck. We did have to have them come back--they installed a temporary screen because they didn't have the right size in stock. They also came back to fix the way the door was aligned because the latch wasn't working properly. Hire these guys - Ron is exactly what the world needs more of. He is a professional who is as dedicated to his craft as he is to his customer. I had a leak for years that we suspected was from the sliding door but could never pinpoint and only appeared maybe once a year. Ron took a look and diagnosed the issue in minutes. At first he told me he couldn't warranty a fix for 10 years so he didn't want to take the project. He promised to get me in contact with another reputable contractor. He called me back a few days later and offered to do the job because he wanted to make sure it was addressed properly. He quoted me a price and we moved forward. Day of the job, his team let themselves in and began work. Ron called and told me that after he took the door apart the job would take less material than quoted and cut the price by 25%. THIS IS ONE OF MY FIRST REVIEWS AND I HAVE USED THE SITE FOR YEARS....and was worth the time to write it to help the next person.... I call him to come out for service. He showed up on time, clean cut and professional. He looked at our sliding door which was VERY drafty and was a little hard to open. He comes in and takes a look at the door and says that the strip that "seals" the door needs to be replaced but also says "It's gonna be really expensive to fix this kind of thing, they don't make this kind of seal anymore) He said that it would cost $225 to fix the door. We were suprised it was that much but not apposed to fixing it. It's an old door.....We wanted to do it but told him we were going to think about it because either way it had to be ordered or possibly custom and he wasn't able to fix it today. I ASK "CAN YOU PUT THAT FELT STRIP IN THERE?" (he had a roll of it in his hand) I said "you have some of that felt, can you just use it and seal it up for now while we decide on ordering the replacement piece?" He says "that will not work, it needs the replacement piece." I say "It may not work but can you at least try and see if it will work until this other piece is ordered and received? IT'S GETTING COLD AND I AT LEAST NEED TO MINIMIZE THE DRAFT FOR NOW" He said again that it wouldn't work, no sense wasting materials" I asked a THIRD time and said to him "YOUR HERE NOW, CAN YOU PLEASE JUST PUT A STRIP DOWN THE DOOR TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER? OR CAN YOU GIVE ME 7 FEET OF IT?" Great company and great people. We had a really old sliding door and the lock stopped working. We couldn't find anyone to get a replacement lock or fix it - we were afraid we'd have to replace the whole door. Found Galron and contacted them - they called back in an hour and scheduled an appt for Monday. Showed up on time - couldn't fix the lock but had a replacement in his truck, replaced the lock, fixed the rollers on the sliding door so it goes a lot smoother and did it all for a very reasonable price. Called to set up an estimate. The gentlemen on the phone was pleasant, gave me a ball park figure, and a quick time frame for install. In my head this sounded like the company I would be using for the work. Come estimate day, they were a no show. I called the phone number on website, multiple times before reaching the same salesman on the phone. He told me the tech is on the way and would have him give me a call. After waiting another hour without a call, I called multiple times to the website salesman..... no answer. I than called from my wife's phone and he picked up. I explained that, I never got a call from the tech and they are now 1hr15mn late. I told him to just forget it. 5 min. later I got a call from the tech and he said, he could just give me a price over the phone and that I must have been mistaken about the timing.
