musical improv is the new punk rock: great storytelling, emotionally charged, risky. the most fun i ever had in the world of musical improv was a class i took with nancy howland wallker. she made it look easy, like michael phelps in the pool. is there anything more punk rock than a speedo? anyway, i loved nancy's class. it helped me land a spot in 2nd city's musical improv program. but more than than a gift to my ambition, it was just a great way to spend a couple hours, singing songs and goofing off. there's nothing edgier than a grown man goofing off. read more

I received an absolutely FABULOUS song on Valentine's Day!!! It was AMAZING!!!. Heard it at least six times that night and cried every single time!!! My friend, Dutch, who had the song created, had been listening to the song for four days and still couldn't stop the tears from flowing! What you may not know is that CIA (Nancy and Marshall) also produce custom songs on commission - delivered in MP3 format, disc, or otherwise. They just produced versions of Good Charlott'es "I Just Wanna Live," John Cougar Mellancamp's "Jack and Diane" and Billy Joel's "For the Longest Time" (you can see their range in those three titles alone!), for which I worte alternative lyrics and have given to my kids as well-loved gifts. I saw them at The White Eagle in Niles & I didn't know what to expect. We were having dinner when suddenly they jumped up & started performing right in front of us.
