My son had an unfortunate accident on November 27th, just before Thanksgiving. He thought he had only dislocated his shoulder, but after an X-ray, we learned he had actually broken his clavicle bone. The hospital informed us that surgery was likely necessary, but we needed to see an orthopedic specialist to confirm. We were fortunate to secure an appointment with Parkview Orthopedic Group on December 2nd. After reviewing the X-ray, the doctor confirmed the fracture was severe, and surgery would be required to address multiple bone fragments. The earliest available surgery date was December 12th, but the very next day, we received a call that the surgery was being rescheduled. Dr. Luke was now assigned to my son's case, and he could perform the surgery on December 10th. This was a bit of good news, as it meant my son would get the care he needed sooner. On December 4th, we met Dr. Luke. He thoroughly explained the situation, describing how the bone fragments would need to be repositioned and then secure the bone with a plate. He also took the time to explain the importance of avoiding damage to my son's growth plates. Dr. Luke made us feel confident that my son was in excellent hands. The next 13 days were tough--my son had to sleep in a chair, and the bone pushed against his skin in a way that looked extremely painful. He was able to attend school up until the day before surgery, demonstrating incredible resilience. He truly handled it like a soldier. On the morning of surgery, Dr. Luke reassured us by explaining that they would perform a nerve block to manage pain for up to 24 hours after the procedure. While I was a little nervous about the nerve block after reading about it, the anesthesia team made sure my son was comfortable and explained everything to him. After about two hours in surgery, Dr. Luke came out to update me, saying the procedure went very well. He managed to reposition all but one of the bone fragments. The nerve block worked wonders, but by around 4 a.m. the next morning, as it wore off, my son experienced significant pain. Fortunately, the prescribed pain medication helped bring the discomfort to a more tolerable level. A week later, we had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Luke. The nurse removed the bandages, and everything looked great. Dr. Luke used sutures instead of staples to minimize scarring, which was another thoughtful detail. Since my son is young and recovering well, Dr. Luke gave him a list of exercises to do. We've had several follow-up appointments with Dr. Luke since then, and my son continues to heal well. He gave my son a choice of self-therapy if he wants, which he was thrilled about. Dr. Luke has been exceptional every step of the way--never rushing us, always answering our questions, and providing outstanding care. If you find yourself in need of orthopedic surgery, I can't recommend Dr. Kevin W. Luke enough. His expertise, compassion, and thoroughness made all the difference in my son's recovery. Thank you, Dr. Luke, for your excellent care and for putting my son's clavicle back together! I'm not sure what happened with the others who left negative reviews, but their experiences don't match mine at all!

I'm leaving a review because I'm upset and disappointed by my most recent experience at this medical group. I scheduled an appointment, which did not have to be same day, but they mentioned there was openings as early as 11am today (06/08/26). I ended up waiting over 70 minutes to be seen by the doctor. A 30 minute wait I would understand, but an hour and 10 minutes is crazy. Especially on a weekday that I need to be at my job. When the physician, Dr. Catherine McDoniel, entered the room, she acknowledged I was at the window looking out. I politely mentioned I was checking out the views because I've been waiting for a little bit. Instead of acknowledging the concern, she responded in a way that I felt was dismissive and confrontational, asking, "What did you expect? You booked the appointment same day?" and suggested I go to urgent care instead. I remained respectful and simply explained that I had expected to be seen closer to my scheduled appointment time. The interaction continued to feel defensive, and I ultimately left crying without receiving care. I asked the front desk to refund my copay, which they were able to take care of and apologized for what happened. After I left the building, the front desk called me again apologizing for what had happened. The front desk staff were kind and professional, but the physician interaction was upsetting and left me feeling unheard and disrespected. And I left without the medical attention I needed. I believe the multiple apologies I've received over this incident is important to note as it confirms this encounter was problematic. I do not recommend Dr Catherine McDoniel.

Dr. Richard Lim is one of the finest Orthopedic Spine Surgeons in the Country, many surgeons did…read morenot want to operate on me because of the complicated nature of my case. I had a giant herniated disk with severe central canal stenosis along with complete effacement of the Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) around the nerve roots. Redundant nerve roots (RNRs) and the beginnings of Cauda Equina Syndrome and Arachnoiditis. I had terrifying pain in the hip, buttocks, groin and leg. Sound Complicated? That is because it was and the risk of surgery was high. Dr. Lim took on my case and performed an extremely successful Posterior Spinal Fusion with Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) using a Titanium artificial disk also known as a Intervertebral Cage and a facetectomy on L2/L3 with a very Complex Decompression of Cauda Equina and Bilateral L1/L2 nerve roots and Hip Bone Marrow Aspiration with an Allograft Bone Graft plus 2 Bilateral foraminotomies along with an annulotomy. This was all done using a 3D computer-assisted stereotactic navigation system. I mention all this to demonstrate why even world-renowned Neuro Surgeons declined to take my case. Right after surgery 100 percent of my pre-surgical pain in the hip, buttocks, groin and leg was gone. At 3 months out I was walking 3 miles and at 4 months I was hiking in the forest on hilly and challenging terrain and had a zero-pain score. Also, his P.A. He left pieces inside of me and closed me up. Those pieces dug into my sciatic nerve for 7 1/2 weeks causing the most excruciating pain I have ever had in my life. He ran out of the surgery and jumped in his car so I couldn't ask him why I was in more pain when I woke up than when I went in. Then he wouldn't take any calls from me. Then when I was able to go to his office, he wouldn't come out of the back to talk to me. The front desk said they were told to tell me he was in meetings and was not going to see me. It took the CEO of Midwest Orthopedics to force him to meet with me. The arrogant, pompous ass that he is kept saying nothing was wrong even after new MRI's showed the debris and me screaming in pain. The surgeon from Rush who corrected the botched surgery took photos that he gave to me of what he had to remove that was digging into my sciatic nerve. He said he normally wouldn't do that but that I needed to save these for the attorneys. In all my life I have never met a worse doctor / surgeon. It's bad enough to ruin somebody's back but then to be so arrogant to never admit the mistake and get it fixed. Anybody who would let him cut into you would have to be insane. Find ANYBODY else!

There are so many doctors out there doing the "Ah ha. ah ha ...". They aren't listening to our needs. I had been going through hell for years. I was at my primary care physician's office and, again, going through all of these ailments. She told me about this Dr who had recently opened his office in Joliet. She went and made a call and that doctor would see me as soon as I got there (WHAT?!?!!!!). That was Dr.Cheema's office. When I arrived to his office, his staff was so kind and truly cared for my well-being. I saw Dr Cheema within a couple minutes after completing the necessary forms. Dr Cheema LISTENED and we developed a plan together to treat each issue as we could. I felt as though I was his only patient (which I definitely was not!!!). I was on my was to feeling better, whether it was with medication, acupuncture, injections and more. If you are experiencing ANY kind of pain: Headaches, knee pain, back pain, cervical (neck) pain, lower back (lumbar) pain, numbness, whatever it may be, please do yourself a favor, and please stop suffering through pain, even being uncomfortable, and call Dr. Cheema's office and get the treatment that is perfect for YOU.
