I live Dr. Brian Cole and Dr. Yasin... outside of that I'm not sure I'll be returning to the Joliet facility. So much miscommunication and incompetence! Arrive 1/2 hour early to be told I cannot get an MRI because I use oxygen. I've been on oxygen for 15 years and have had many MRI's... they said they were not equipped for any oxygen emergencies. My pulmonologist said they would talk to them and clear my MRI with no oxygen. No... they had me wait 2 hours to refuse appointment. I don't plan on rescheduling with Dr Sayori. At my first appointment I saw the PA who gave took an X-ray and gave me a script for Mobic. I ask why the Monic. He said for pain. I said I don't have any pain. He said it's good for inflammation but I don't have to take it if I don't want to... so I didn't. They scheduled me for and MRI and follow up... as well as therapy for my neck. This is all because I had occasional tingling in 2 fingers on my left hand... this is the Joliet facility... what a waste of time and energy! read more

There is not enough Space to say how much I truly love this physician and his care team. They are highly knowledgeable, professional, relaxed, and approachable, which you don't often find a lot in many of today's Physicians. There's no question that you do not feel comfortable asking and never have I left the office wondering what my next steps or treatment plans would be. I highly suggest Dr. Karas and his medical team for all of your knee and hip issues even if it's just a consultation ... you will feel like you have been seeing this Doctor your entire life. Overall terrible communication they claim that they called you back for for an appointment on the waiting list but there's no evidence of them doing that so they must not have bothered to leave a voicemail. Looks like I'll have to go to Mayo Clinic again because they're they either don't care or just completely disorganized so what's the point if they have great care if they don't have good communication. You can pay $100.00 out of pocket for each office appoint and if a procedure is done, it will be another $9,000.00 out of pocket, up front." I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Rush. I scheduled an appointment specifically with Neil Patel, but when I arrived, a different PA walked in without any explanation as to why Neil Patel wasn't seeing me. I even overheard another patient checking in at the same time mention his name, which makes me suspect I was double-booked. The reason for my visit was severe back pain, and I had explicitly mentioned to the scheduler that I needed a letter of medical necessity. Yet, within seconds of entering the room, this PA (who was not Patel) abruptly told me they don't provide letters. When I explained--while visibly upset--that I had scheduled the appointment for this reason and that the scheduler had assured me they do write letters, she showed no empathy, dismissed me completely, and offered no apology. She didn't examine my back at all and then asked me if she should perform a strength test--shouldn't she, as the medical expert, know what to do? The test itself felt pointless. Overall, she did nothing to address my pain or concerns. As a person of color, I can't ignore how dismissive this encounter felt, and unfortunately, this is my third bad experience at Rush with a provider who was rude and dismissive. I will never book another appointment here. Patients deserve to be heard, respected, and actually cared for. read more

I used to be a fan of Midwest Orthopaedics, but I'm not so sure any more. I had a hip replaced several years ago, and 'm due for a 5-year follow-up. It used to be, you'd call the office and make an appointment. Now it's a call center. No matter what day, or time of day, they're always experiencing large call volumes. I don't like getting an automated callback, as I don't always have my calendar handy; I prefer to hold on until someone answers. That's apparently not an option any more; I press 3 ro stay on the line, and am treated to a continuous loop of the callback options. I have to consider going somewhere else. read more

This place is horrible. Why have appointment time if you're always going to be late. They called us back almost 2 hours late for my mother's appointment. That's ridiculous because If we are more than 15min late they cancel our appointment. The doctor didn't even acknowledge the fact that he was so late and when we mentioned it to him he said well we try to be through so that's why we are behind which I understand, but then why schedule so many people so close together? Because it's all about money. You get X-Rays done it's in the first few min which is great then you just wait and either way they are going to charge you or the insurance since you took X-Rays already. He was in our room for less than 10 min. It was straight to the point of surgery without and informations or anything. It seems that they care more about the bottom line than the patients care. I am 4 weeks post op from having bunionectomy w/ Dr. Bohl. His PA Caroline was phenomenal. She is so thorough and very informative and helpful. She suggested PT for me and I'm glad I took her advice. My experience at Chicago Physical Therapy has been awesome. Sara and Nichols were my therapist and they were great. My foot has improved. My walking has improved. My balance still working that a bit, never had good balance. But they are so knowledgeable, gave me great suggestions and advice. I'm glad I went. If you want a staff that never returns calls (even if they promise they will return them the next day) and abruptly cancels an appointment, giving no reason at all, a few days before the appointment you have waited over a month to go to, then this is your place! Rude and extremely unprofessional. Like being told by a doctor that he is finding the recommended doctor he wants you to see, and then left waiting there indefinitely to only find out that the doctor isn't even in the building! If you want to stare right into the face unethical business practices Midwest Orthopedics is a great place to start. Midwest Orthopedics is in the business of profiteering, and not so much providing medical care. Midwest Orthopedics is a private business running a rackets outside of Rush university medical Center. Midwest essentially has a monopoly over outpatient care for patients with orthopedic needs. This means that Rush physicians direct most patients requiring orthopedic care over to Midwest Orthopaedics. The entire relationship stinks of a shadowy kickback scheme between Rush hospital and Midwest Orthopedics. Midwest orthopedics will refuse service to anyone who has had any surgery within 1 year of seeking an appointment. The public relations department of Midwest Orthopaedics has stated that "we are a private business" while conveying the message that they can do as they please and they are under no obligation to provide medical services to anyone. Another crooked business masquerading itself as a health care provider. read more

Have seen two different MD's from Midwest and both were very dismissive and more interested in getting to their next appt than in the problem I had. They may be supposedly " the best" specialists, but I do not recommend them to anyone I know. read more

Had shoulder surgery. Dr Garrigues. Too early to tell if it was a success. My complaint is that the follow up is pretty much non existent. There are basically no written discharge instructions. Even on the website - Dr G Shoulder- that tab is blank. There are never any written after visit notes and there is no patient portal. Your medication types and doses might be explained by two diff people (PA's) and they may very well conflict and change. Confusion reigns. Take good notes in your pain-induced haze and hope for the best because you'll be relying on verbal instruction. And when you do get an email (say if you request one to be clear) it may very well be contrary to what you were told after suffering for DAYS with the wrong protocol. Want your visit notes? Aftercare or post op report? Submit a written request to medical records. Which is inconvenient after shoulder surgery. Their PT protocol instructions changed and they " forgot"to update that too. Do not recommend. read more

I saw Dr. Mark Cohen for some wrist/forearm pain that I'd had for several months, per the recommendation of my physical therapist. It wasn't an immediate need, so I thought that the scheduling times were reasonable. I was able to get time in 2 weeks after I made the scheduling request. I sent a request online and they followed up with a call to confirm days/times. I did all the paperwork online, so when I got there for my appointment, there was little to no paperwork to do. Checking in was quick and easy, and I waited about 20 minutes before being seen. I met with his assistant (?) and did some preliminary testing, xrays, and examination. I saw Dr. Cohen for about 10 min of the hour I was there, but I felt like that was enough time, seeing as my issue was not severe. He gave me a thorough rundown of my xrays and examination findings and offered suggestions and possible causes of my issue. He was super nice and, though quick, his explanations didn't feel rushed. Right after, I was able to get my prescription sent to my pharmacy and went to a different section of the building to get arm braces. It was great that I didn't have to go out of the way to get those made. read more

I had a 4-star experience with Dr Lin for plantar fasciitis that was solved with walking casts and PT I arranged on my own. 4 stars as well for Dr Forsythe for a torn elbow tendon that received two steroid injections and an eventual surgical repair. That surgery was done at the Gold Coast Surgical Center and that facility and team were both excellent. The surgical outcome was good, not ideal, and follow-up was limited. Oddly, PT was not recommended with either the foot or elbow issues and I was cleared to return to work without the elbow surgeon asking what I do for a living. My son saw the pediatric orthopedic surgeon Dr Kogan for knee and ankle issues, pain so severe he couldn't walk some days. She ordered X-rays which confirmed what we suspected and both are diagnoses which respond well to PT. Again, she not only did NOT recommend PT but refused to provide a prescription for PT or orthotics stating "neither will help." She just sent him home- no follow-up, no suggestions, no therapy. So I had to pay for a second opinion and that physician referred him to PT. He received orthotics that immediately helped his pain and PT for 4 months at Body Gears which resolved his pain. I'll give Dr Kogan 2 stars. So an average of 3.3 stars for the practice. Come prepared with a magazine and earbuds to wait in the crowded, noisy waiting room and also prepare to be initially examined by a resident or physician assistant. The actual interactions with the physician will be super quick so write up a list of questions in advance. Also allow up to 30 minutes for parking. Some days it takes a long time to find a spot in the lot. Then you have to walk to the offices. I'll Uber next time as that lot really is challenging. read more

If you like polite, incompetent staff; if it doesn't bother you when a provider's office refuses to give you CPT codes before initial consult so you can confirm whether your insurance covers procedures; if you like calling your insurer ahead of a second appointment only to discover they submitted the incorrect CPT code for pre-authorization; if you like waiting 60 minutes for a doctor who spends 2 minutes with you without even introducing himself; if you like seeing disappointment in your doctor's eyes when he discovers you are not a candidate for surgery because your joint is not that badly damaged, then this is the place for you. read more

Dr. Shane NHO was my surgeon. He is top in his field and quite the expert. Dealing with his support staff has been a nightmare. They are incapable of collecting all the necessary insurance, Covid cards, Covid tests, preapprovals and coordination...they cannot keep their ducks in a row. One CMA yelled at me over the phone the day of surgery saying, "I'm warning you..." and I just hung up on her. I had complications from anesthesia and post op infection. It was weeks later that this office caught up with numerous phone calls to follow up with me. Go to a different surgeon. read more

i waited almost a month to write this review. My appointment was for August 7, 2023. Today is August 31. I never saw Dr. Kathleen Weber. There has been no apology, so I will now tell you my story. I am a senior citizen with osteoarthritis of multiple joint sites. I have tried physical therapy and injections but I only received short term relief. I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Weber because she is a non-surgical orthopedic doctor. Having surgery is not an option for me. I am too old. I just wanted something less invasive which I have not already tried, to improve the quality of my remaining life. I have Paratransit service who will take me to my destination and back. On this day, because I was a new patient, I only scheduled, and paid for a visit to Dr. Weber's office. I did not know how long I would be there. I had planned to take an Uber back home. I arrived around 1:20 for a 2:00 pm appointment. Prior to my visit, I faxed a ton of documents to Dr. Weber so that she would be better prepared to service me upon my arrival. I faxed previous doctor's notes, doctor's summaries, x-ray reports of all afflicted areas which I had been treated for, (knee and hip) relative to osteoarthritis in my joints. On the day of my arrival, I even brought in a CD of all x-rays taken from December 2022 to the present, as well as a MRI which I had taken at a private imaging center. The front desk downloaded everything that I brought in which went straight to Dr. Weber. I sat in the waiting room until about 2:15 and someone came out to escort me to an Exam room. I sat in the Exam room until about 3:15. No one bothered to come into the room to offer an excuse, or to apologize for my long wait. Not even a support staff came into the room to tell me anything. Consequently, I felt violated and devalued as a patient. It was obvious that I did not matter, so I left. I let the front desk know that I was leaving after waiting for almost two hours and all they could say to me was would I like to make another appointment. I told them no, and that I would not be back. I suspect Dr. Weber did not want to see me because of my age (76) with so many issues, osteoarthritis in my hip and knee, and that I would just be a waste of her time because clearly these are age related disorders. I feel that she preferred younger patients who had a better chance to improve the quality of their life, and that someone my age did not have any chance at all -- given the fact that there is no cure for osteoarthritis, and that I had tried other methods which only gave temporary relief. I am very smitten by this lack of treatment. If all of the above is true, that Dr. Weber purposely chose not to see me because of my age, my debilitating age-related conditions, and that there was nothing she could do for me, she is a disgrace to the medical profession. She violated the medical code of effort. If Dr. Weber or her staff (who also treated me with disrespect) read this review, do not ever try to reach me by phone, email and do not respond to this email. I have returned to Northwestern Medical for a new form of treatment. I should never have left them. Northwest Medical values all patients, and not just younger ones who have a longer life to live. I flew to there was only told to fly back home to see the MD who I was afraid to see back home. To date I have increased leg weakness and atrophy. I have no local MD and no MD at RUSH. For the 4th ranking in the US all I can say is that MDs who make 500,000 to 600,00$ a year and have PAs review messages have it made. Dr. FERNANDEZ REVIEW: Not sure what to think of my experience with Dr. Fernandez. Waiting Room: As soon as I arrived it was clear that this is not your run of the mill medical center. There must have been 300+ patients on the floor waiting to see a doctor of some sort. The receptionist was polite enough, but I couldn't help but feeling like a small cog in a large assembly line...! I had some issues with my insurance card and it was immediately apparent to me that she had absolutely no time to assist, and I was going to have to solve the issue on my own. During the 45 minutes that I was in the waiting room she must have checked in like 7 or 8 different people. Well I stuck it out because I thought it may be just a sign of the quality care provided. X-ray: This took another 20 minutes after having waited 45 minutes to be checked in. The procedure itself was quick and straightforward.** Update: I specifically asked for and paid extra to have x rays mailed to my home and 3 months later I am still waiting on them. Physician assistant: The PA was nice and attentive of the in depth description of my symptoms. I felt she did a very thorough analysis of what was bothering me. Physician: I guess the PA set the bar high, but I felt Dr Fernandez was very quick to diagnose. He didn't even ask questions, or evaluate the PA's work himself. The diagnosis was SNAC, and the only procedure to correct it was going to be shaving a bone, or fusing the other bones together! I asked if there was something I could do to ease the strain and the look on his face and his response gave a glimpse of what happens a lot at his office. 'Nope no other treatment, or option'. My confusion must have been evident because he then asked the PA what she thought. PA:'Well I think it is a little too soon to diagnose, until I see a CT scan'. For me this last interaction said a lot about my experience here. The incentive for the physician is always doing surgery, so in this assembly line, the physician pushes patients as quickly as possible to surgery without a rigorous analysis of the condition. My experience here was more than a little disconcerting. Maybe others will feel differently. I will look for ways to alleviate the strain on my wrist and wait it out, possibly considering stem cell injections. With all the new technology out, I couldn't help but notice how out of touch Dr. Fernandez was with any innovation, just pushed surgery the whole time. read more

My experience with this company is 2-fold. Thirteen years ago (2008), Dr. Brett Levine did a partial and total knee replacements. No complaints at that time, just thanks. I started having pain in my hips 8 years ago and went to see him a year ago, January 2020. He took x-rays and came back and said, "I'm surprised you're not feeling pain in your back" and dismissed me. Today I went to another doctor who diagnosed me with SEVERE arthritis in my hip. I feel I've been discriminated against medically by Dr. Levine et al. If you're black and looking for a doctor who will treat you fairly. Go see one of your own. I've suffered in pain far too long for someone to just "dismiss" me. read more

My experience with Dr. Singh was unbelievable. His assistant spent more time with me inquiring about my lower back history than the doctor did yet the doctor walked in shortly afterward suggesting he knew everything about my injury. I've endured severe lower back pain for the past 6 years on and off. My MRI displayed a healthy back but my pain has persisted and is, quite frankly, unbearable. During a flare up, I cannot walk, use crutches, and scream in agony. Here's the best part. I asked what I should do since, despite my healthy MRI, I was still in pain. He said he would next look to a HISTORY OF ANXIETY OR DEPRESSION. According to Dr. Singh, since my MRI appeared normal, the next, and only, logical explanation for the pain would be mental illness. He spent a mere 4 minutes with me and dismissed my pain and history like it was nothing. Truly such a disheartening experience and I would not recommend him as a doctor. read more

Let me start by saying I NEVER leave reviews here, especially for doctors. Dr. Edward Goldberg: Was perhaps the worst doctor visit I have had, if you can even call it a full visit. I was in the ER for back pain and diagnosed with two bulging discs on top of issues with my tailbone that when flared up, were debilitating. He comes into the office while I'm STILL talking to the tech about my issues, I never got to finish. He pulls up my scans and says the bulging isn't too bad and I should continue with my life. When asked about dealing with pain, he says just take OTC Ibuprofen. He says the hardening in my tailbone isn't concerning, even though I can't even walk when it flares up, says there is no nerve compression, even though I told them I feel tingling in my legs when it flares up. He makes a joke to my wife and then abruptly leaves the room laughing. My wife and I were dumbfounded. The tech look dumbfounded as well. The most uncaring and disinterested doctor I have ever seen. Please don't disregard these reviews when considering Rush and Dr. Goldberg. Find somewhere else that actually cares to help you find out what is going on with your spine. Dr. Howard An: I had a terrible experience with Dr Goldberg, so I decided to try and get a second opinion from Dr. Howard An. I made an appointment, then three days later the office calls saying that he cancelled my appointment. The reason? Dr. Howard An said he looked at my scans and agreed with what Dr. Goldberg had told me (this baffling experience is in a review left for him). Dr. An basically refused to see me because he agreed with this other Doctor who barely saw me for 5 minutes. How can a professional doctor make a decision or give an opinion without even talking to me, the patient, first? How can any doctor who cares about the well being of patients make a judgment without looking at or talking to a patient? I would never recommend Rush Ortho to anyone. read more

I saw an orthopedic specialist out in the suburbs and another at another Chicago university hospital, but I am so relieved I ended up at Midwest Orthopedics. It is quite a drive for me, but more than worth it. There's an awful lot of complaints in here, which is understandable, and I will be the first to say that Covid has charged us with a lot of crummy restrictions and extra stress... but honestly, it's quite normal for doctors to run behind schedule; typically that means they are spending time with other patients, which is something I would expect them to do for me should I need it as well. That doesn't make it any less frustrating, but comparing this team to other hospitals, Midwest is the winner; not only do they spend the extra time with you, but they are thorough and genuine when it comes to the medical care they provide. After hip surgery with MOR I've had trouble with my back. It's been over two years and the problem is getting worse. But my complaint is that they have a silly rule which say's if you see specialist then you see specialist B, you can't go back to A, why you might ask, because, just because. So I need attention now in the worse way, but the back specialist that seemed to give me some relief can't see me now that I've seen a different specialist at the same facility??? What sense does that even make. They offered me appointment options both completely out of the city and their city based hospital is already 90 minutes from me. I've always liked and respected MOR, now I'm confused and disappointed with them. I will find relief elsewhere. read more

I came to Rush because it has an excellent reputation as the leader of orthopedics in the area. I scheduled an appointment to see Dr Kern Singh. Despite coming to Rush for an appointment with Dr Singh, I was never actually allowed to see him. I made multiple requests and was denied by his PT. It's very sad. Had I known I would have not been allowed to see the doctor I made an appointment with, I would have gone elsewhere. The care I received from his office at Rush was very poor. Despite being in a lot of pain, I received no new medication or treatment and was told there was nothing they could do. Quite the leader in medical care. I left the doctor in just as much pain with no treatment as I walked in. The only difference was the thousands in medical costs that were racked up. It was only after seeing another doctor that I was actually given a treatment plan, medication, treatment and received results. I can't help but think that had I gone somewhere else, I could have cut off months of suffering. The only way I go back to rush is if I'm wheeled in unconscious. read more

This review is for Dr Levine. So I went for my initial appointment. I didn't wait but 5 or 6 minutes. I initially saw one of his residents who manipulated my leg a whole bunch of ways. Dr Levine came in and we spoke about minimally invasive surgery and I decided to just get it done and over with. However - when I got off the table I had a horrible pain go up my left leg to my hip then...... nothing. NO MORE PAIN!!!!!! I don't know what they did or how they did it - but I'm no longer in pain. I know that I will have to have hip surgery eventually - but for right now - I'm really loving life!!!!!!! read more

I've always been satisfied with the quality of care at in-person visits. Being able to get any needed imaging on site is a big plus. Scheduling is the weak link. Having to deal with long hold times and sometimes endless rounds of phone tag can add preventable stress when one may already be dealing with plenty due to injury. It seems like they almost always return calls after 5 when I am on the train and have lots of background noise - if I even hear the call. And then I can't return the call then but have to wait until the next morning. Attempting it online is hit or miss. This was an issue even before the pandemic, something they need to improve. read more

My husband dislocated his metacarpals, and Dr. Wysocki recommended a "preventative surgery" on an urgent timeline. We declined his office's request to make an appointment for surgery within the next week. We got a second opinion. The second surgeon comes from a personal recommendation. He said there was no urgency in my husband's situation - we could have waited to see if surgery was necessary - and in this case, no surgery was needed. We almost paid 6K-10K for an unnecessary surgery! Also, they asked to authorize my credit card so they could charge it. We don't have an itemized bill yet, but they could have charged any amount to our card. I would not come here. Find a more trustworthy doctor. If you must, see if you can ask for the bill instead of signing an authorization on your card. read more

3-hour long wait past my appointment time. When asked how much longer the wait will be, "Not too long now" -- and another hour passes. You complain about the wait, and get, "Oh you will see why there is a long wait, Dr. Weber is really great with her patients." Evidently not if she makes them wait for 3 hours past their appointment time. Then they try to make you pay twice for X-rays, you tell them you already sent your X-rays over, then they make you wait another half hour... I cannot recommend this place. If you have to go, be prepared to be there all day. Take the whole day off from work. read more
