We had a great dinner at this restaurant. We opted to check it out as it is on the InKind app (get 20% back) and had good reviews. We were able to find close meter parking nearby. The restaurant itself has a cute patio with heaters, a full bar and seating area. We were led to the seating area which was pretty quiet. Upon being sat in our booth, the waiter delivered complimentary bbq chips and pickles. For drinks, my husband opted for a Halloween bourbon special and I just got an Arnold Palmer. For food we both got robust bbq sandwiches. I got the Pit which contained pulled pork, brisket and two links. The sandwich came on a bun with bbq sauce and slaw. The Pit was full of tender meat. I set aside the brisket and links for leftovers and focused on the pulled pork/slaw. As apart of this meal, I opted for the Mac and cheese for a 2.50 add on. It was worth every 250 Pennies. My husband enjoyed his burger which came with two patties and brisket. He thought the mash potatoes were very flavorful. Last but not least, we got the carrot cake. The carrot cake was delicious. We enjoyed this the next day . The cake itself was huge and had to be cut into two to fit into the to-go container. We ended up sharing half the cake one day and the other half the next. So 4 satisfying slices of cake. All-in-all, I would come back here. Most staff were friendly. Our server did his job but wasn't the most friendly. Went here for brunch and their chips and sweet pickles that they serve you on the table were so so good oh my gosh I had the Mutua I believe for drink. I forgot to take a picture of the food, but I had the large mac & cheese with burnt ends on top and a piece of fried chicken and when I tell you, this was probably one of the best pieces of fried chicken at a restaurant that I have had. It was so seasoned and so crisp all of the thigh was a little small. I'm not even mad at it because it was so so flavorful will definitely have to come back and actually take photos. Enjoyed a late weekend brunch on the patio with a beautiful quaint ambiance. Right away a cool jug of water, house made sweet butter pickles and BBQ seasoned potato chips were brought to the table complimentary. OMG the perfect sweet and savory start! Took me a little time to peruse both menus because it all looked great so it was nice to nibble meanwhile. The kind waitress AJ recommended the breakfast skillets as a guest favorites and it really was excellent! The meat was tender and with the dipping sauces it was fun to try all of them. Included in the skillet were eggs any way you wanted (I chose over easy runny yolks) and country seasoned potatoes (although the menu reads they come with hash browns, today they ran out). Not as much meat as I expected for a $24 price but overall a very filling and satisfying meal. I'll definitely go back & order another skillet or inquire about another savory dish with the same meat. The service was polite, attentive and prompt. I had quite a few bags and she offered to hold them which I truly appreciated. I had hoped to save room for a carrot cake slice and expresso but I was just too stuffed. Next time. On my way out, I went to the restroom. It is only a single so when I went in it was dirty and definitely needed attention. Somebody had forgotten to flush after getting sick in there. This was a good Bbq restaurant. I can't say it was best of the best but it was fine. We ordered the burnt and and burnt ends sandwich. The coleslaw was placed under the burnt ends which made it a tad warm. we didn't see out waiter much but by the end we got about everything we order (minus one drink). The restaurant inside was pretty empty on a Sunday afternoon but the patio was pretty lively. It is off a busy road and that made for some interesting and loud cars at time. The Mac and cheese wasn't great but not terrible. The sand which had alot of burnt ends packed into it which was nice but unfortunately it because incredibly challenging to eat. I'm looking forward to going back and trying a few different items. The cornbread was pretty chunky too so I would skip that as well. We may have just picked some poor items. read more

Holy Chicago Q!!! This is the best BBQ I have ever had and I have had A LOT of bbq. We dined here for restaurant week, and they feed us WELL. The portions were enormous for a $45 tasting menu. The house made chips and pickles are unreal. I need a continuous supply of those in my home. The prime rib was tender and perfectly cooked/seasoned. I have never had a better prepared piece of meat. But the star? The carrot cake. I had this dessert on my list for over a year, and somehow it still blew all expectation out of the water. I want that cake at every celebration of mine moving forward. Wedding, birthday, anniversary, you name it. I need that carrot cake. Staff was awesome and attentive. Very few people dining at 8pm on a Tuesday but it felt nice and intimate as opposed to barren. I went here for a friend's birthday on a Monday night before Christmas. It was pretty dead, but nicely decorated inside. I got the Cobb salad with chicken and tried the cornbread. Both were very good. I definitely think this is a good option in the Gold Coast Neighbourhood. However, the service was so bad that I have to knock it down a star. We discovered this place when walking past one day and saw a sign out front saying $5 old fashions for happy hour. Well we had to try one or 2. Ordered our drinks and along with them came a bowl of homemade chips and a small bowl of sweet pickle spears. Made my day. The server was engaging and the place in general was just nice and inviting. I've been wanting to try Chicago q for a while. And my intentions were to try their bbq food, but when I saw they had a brunch menu, some entrees sounded good so we went with their brunch menu. This place is huge. It didn't seem big from the outside, but they have three separate dining area. The outdoor patio, the bar area on the front and a massive dining area towards the rear of the building. We chose to dine in their dining room which was empty. I felt the service could have been a little faster, they were that busy, but took over 1/2 hour for our food to arrive. They start you off with home made potato chips and pickles. Both of these were very tasty, but I would have eaten them slower if I knew the food would take awhile to come out. The bbq sauces were also really good. My wife ordered their Chilaquiles. I'll be honest with ya'll, these chilaquiles were the worst I have ever tried. I joked with my wife afterwards that they probably didn't have tortillas to make this dish, so they went to go buy some, came back, fried them for a bit put a little bit of salsa and queso fresco and a fried egg on top. Very tasteless and disappointing dish. I still wanted a little bbq so decided go get their Pulled Pork Benedict. This came with fried green tomatoes at the bottom, pulled pork and topped with a poached egg and Cajun hollandaise sauce with a side of potato hash. This dish was near flawless. I would have preferred a thicker cut of the green tomato. I love fried green tomatoes, and felt what they used was a little too small. But overall the dish was so delicious. The pulled pork had a nice Smokey flavor and went well with the Cajun hollandaise sauce. I would definitely order this again. read more

My neighbor and I were seeking a breakfast place and we live 3 blocks away from Chicago a. We didn't think they were open but it was. I ordered scrambled eggs and cornbread. It was delicious. Came in for brunch on a rainy day but that didn't stop anyone from coming here with lots of full tables in the back dining room. The managers Rob and Anthony were so accommodating and the server/bartender was so nice with great drink recommendations. We tried the Bloody Mary bar (photo included) which was a meal in a glass on its own. We also had the shrimp and grits per recommendation (insanely good), the Cobb salad and the Q flight which included brisket, pulled pork, and pulled chicken. We really enjoyed our visit to Chicago q! I have not tried any BBQ in Chicago that tastes quite like it. We sat indoors for an early dinner and it was fairly empty and quiet. Our server was very attentive and provided us with great recommendations. We split the ribs, brisket, baked beans, cole slaw, and cornbread. The standouts by far were the brisket and cole slaw- the meat absolutely melted in the mouth and had an awesome smokiness, while the cole slaw provided a unique, tangy crunch of high quality fresh ingredients. The ribs were flavorful but a bit dry, and the baked beans were a bit more peppery than expected. The cornbread was good, but I wish there had been more of the delicious honey butter. I really enjoyed the variety of sauces as well- the original was definitely our unanimous favorite. Will definitely be back, and recommend Chicago q to anyone looking for a new BBQ spot! read more

We went with the blackened mahi mahi on a bed of the seasonal vegetables (Brussels sprouts), the smoked pulled chicken, and the coleslaw. We also got the smoky tequila cocktail. The Brussels sprouts were really tasty but they weren't cut quite correctly and still had the root/stem part on some of them which took away from it. The smoked chicken and mahi mahi were both good textures but a little bland - I was glad the chicken came with a few dipping sauces. And the cole slaw had good ratios of ingredients. The outdoor seating was lovely for a summer's evening and we were happy to find a place to be able to go without a reservation on a Saturday. I liked having sauce options. I went between the mustard-based one, the spicy, and the sweet. I love quality mashed potatoes and these are it! Creamy, a little chunky, and a generous portion. Easily two portions for me. I enjoyed both cocktails but preferred the espresso becomes it wasn't the typical recipe. It was sweetened with honey! Very good. Whatever you do, you've gotta make sure you get the hush puppies. These were outstanding! The best ones I've ever had. Perfectly crispy, hot, and savory with a really good aioli for dipping. Arrived to Chicago Q on Saturday afternoon. We were greeted with a friendly smile and given the choice of seating. Eric came over and introduced himself. We were given ample time to look at the menu while he prepared our drinks. We were also served house chips and sweet pickles. We ordered the Hush Puppies for an appetizer. They were okay. They were not very flavorful and a little overcooked. I ordered the brisket sandwich and my friend ordered the Hot n Honey Chicken sandwich. The portions were huge and there was plenty of food to take home. The brisket was cut into large cubes. If I would have known the brisket was not sliced, I would have not ordered it. The brisket was chewy, dry and bland. My friend enjoyed her chicken sandwich and said it was flavorful. The side of coleslaw was huge! Enough for four people. It was creamy and not too sweet. I've walked past Chicago q at least a hundred times but have never stopped in until this evening. It was fairly empty and we were easily able to grab two seats at the bar. It felt very homey and cozy which was a plus. The food was out of this world fantastic. I'm not a huge meat eater so I had the corn and black bean salad. I cannot recommend this enough! Paired with some corn bread and a bite of my boyfriends pulled pork it was the perfect meal. There were some vegetarian options on the menu including a roasted vegetable plate. While I didn't try it, I'm sure it would be fantastic as well. read more
