    Mauricio's Specialty

A friend suggested this place for a diner style breakfast on Saturday morning. They do not accept reservations; just stand in line and wait until a table becomes available. They will not seat you until your entire party is in line so tell your friend that always runs late an earlier time to meet! Once seated we were greeted by Ms. Rhonda, such a lovely lady! It was a cold day and I really wanted hot chocolate and she added marshmallows and cinnamon atop...my favorite way! I ordered the classic breakfast w/ 2 eggs scrambled hard, hash browns, bacon, and pancakes...eggs were seasoned really well, crispy bacon, and pancakes were the perfect size. My friend ordered the Mauricio's Specialty and left no crumbs so taking that as a thumbs up!

Cozy holiday vibes, great food and options and excellent service is the trifecta. Excellent menu options range from the classics to those with a modern spin. Btw -The eggs with chorizo were better than any dish I had in Mexico.

I had the steak sandwich and it was pretty good! The steak was the best part, perfectly cooked & seasoned. I wish there was more pistachio salsa on it bc that was a yummy addition. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute place for a bite![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I've been coming here several times a week for the past couple of months, and it's hands-down my favorite spot in Lincoln Park. The staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and personable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've even made a few friends at the counter, which says a lot about the atmosphere here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is exactly what you'd hope for from a classic diner - hearty, filling, and consistently delicious. Whether it's breakfast, brunch, or lunch, every meal hits the spot. The portions are generous and the prices are more than fair, so you always leave full and satisfied. It's become my go-to place for a routine meal, or, to bring friends on the weekend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's just one of those neighborhood spots that makes you feel right at home.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Shout out to Brandy, Eddie, Chaz, Ronda, Liz, and Shannon!

My partner and I stopped in for brunch after a long run around Lincoln Park and we were pleasantly surprised by how delicious (and reasonably priced) our meal was! We ended up gettin corn beef hash and eggs + one of their chef special breakfast sandos (in a wrap)... Both were filling and cooked perfectly. Also they had a ginormous hot sauce wall... Need I say more! Service was quick, organized, and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It also had a classic local diner feel to it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Again, the hot sauce wall was such a fantastic touch! (And would def bring me back again)

Went to brunch on Sunday am and while packed, the wait for the three of us was painless. Had the Classic Breakfast and the always amazing Dark Matter Coffee. What a combo!!! It was SO good, after my friends checked out of the Airbnb down the block, I came back solo the next day for breakfast again! This time I had the Crosstown Classic Breakfast Sammich!! Nice! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Not sure if this gem is related to the old Salt & Pepper Diner from back in the day, but what great service, servers and atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Next time I'm in town, I will be back!

Just a shoutout. This place is the best!! Owners r dynamite. And staff if really great. They r like one big family. I used to go where owners worked prior to them owning Dash of Salt and Pepper and they have not changed on bit So good food. Lots homemade. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Fun space and good vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They also contribute to many neighborhood events. Great experience which everyone should be thankful for in this day and age. Also daisy loves them!!!

If you want fast service, good energy, and consistency. Go to Salt and Pepper. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This neighborhood diner is exactly what you're looking for.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I go for the basics and when you can say that a place has great scrambled eggs that's when you know. It feels like your grandma just whipped you up a full course breakfast 10/10 definitely try it out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It IS kinda small so if you go on a Sunday at 9:30am don't be all pissed off that the "service was slow" because it's not.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Likely you're just comically impatient and it was a morning rush.

Super yummy! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved the cozy vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Really nice service too, even though it was busy. Would go back again!

What a gem. This place has a comfortable, neighborhood diner vibe with a fun (and clean!) hot sauce wall. The food was amazing - fresh and delicious. The sourdough toast tasted artisanal and the pancakes were delightfully flavored in a thin style. Service was slow, but comfortable feeling on the week-day morning we went but is probably hopping on weekends. Looking forward to going back with the kids.

What a great breakfast place in Lincoln Park! It gets really busy on the weekends. You have to stand in line at the front and wait for a table to open. You pay your bill at the counter after you finish your meal. Our waitress Brandy was awesome! She's quick and gets everything done so fast. She's efficient and welcoming. We sat at the counter with the barstools and it was cool to see the open kitchen. I also love the decor inside bc it's decked with Chicago stuff and street signs! The pancakes that come on the side is really good here and it's thinner. We got a free cupcake since the restaurant was celebrating its anniversary!

Our party of three stopped in for Sunday lunch and got seated right away, a very lucky occurance it would seem. The staff, especially our server, were all very helpful and made the experience what it was. My 9-year old had a few too many questions about the existence of peppers on the menu so our server suggested an off-menu breakfast plate of bacon and eggs. It turned out to be very well made - creamy not overdone eggs, thick/crispy/sweet bacon and thick bread. It was better than the burger, which is saying something as the burger here is as good as you'll find at any place. The standout for us was the hash with duck heart gravy. With an egg on top, the gravy was flavorful and definitely unique.
