I went with the spring greens mix ($4.30) then added in an avocado ($1.40), tomatoes, black olive, mushrooms, cucumbers, mushrooms and goat cheese. All the non-avocado mix-ins I chose were under $1 with the exception of the cucumber which was $1.25. You move along in a line similar to Sweetgreen, selecting your mix-ins as you go. At the end of the line, they mix up the salad very nicely and add your preferred dressing. My substantial salad rang up at $13.38 with tax. In my experience traveling in PR, not a lot of places offer large meal sized salads like places like Sweetgreen do on the mainland. The whole experience was a little slow since they were slammed with a lunch crowd when we visited. The parking here can be a little difficult as so many businesses share the same lot. Bathrooms could be a little cleaner so I am subtracting a star for the parking situation and bathrooms, but the salad is definitely a 5 star experience.

St. Germain Bistro Bar happened to be right across from our Airbnb, and honestly it felt like we got lucky. Even though it was late, they seated us right away and helped us pull together two small tables so our family could sit comfortably. My kids were starving, so that alone was a huge relief. The portions for the kids' pasta and chicken nuggets were a little smaller than expected, but the flavor and quality were excellent. You could tell the food was made with care. I ordered the onion soup and the fried cheese with guava dip and wow. Absolutely delicious. The guava dip especially was incredible. I also had a mojito that was perfectly made. But what really made the night unforgettable was the kindness of the staff. My son had forgotten his inhaler and was having a hard time adjusting to the humidity. He was coughing a lot and clearly uncomfortable. Vianca noticed right away and went out of her way to help. She brought over honey and encouraged him to take a little shot with ginger and honey, then brought hot tea as well. She even suggested things like putting socks on him and using Vicks when we got back. When I mentioned that my kids are half Puerto Rican and their abuela already swears by those remedies, she just lit up and said, "Well you're home then, you already know what to do." That moment really stuck with me. The warmth, the care for kids, the genuine hospitality. It's exactly the kind of Puerto Rican kindness people talk about. The kitchen is small, so service can be a little slower, but it's absolutely worth the wait. The food is great, the drinks are great, and the people make the place special. The mofongo's and tostones brought back memories, the skirt steak was so tender and they did not have arroz con gondules, but instead arroz con habichuelas which are beans and I can't eat beans. It was a great first night. As much as I would love to come back,I have to try different places and different things, but if you are a local and haven't been here or a tourist and want good PR food, this is a great first stop.
