So flippin' busy yesterday! Kudos to the staff for being as organized and quick as they were.. if only the majority of the customers were the same way! Children running amongst the crowd while parents were on the phone, a lady with her girl (and texting) cut in front of me in the order queue when I was next.. and e.t.c e.t.c. The wrap I got was yummy, and filling enough that I saved half for my lunch today! The waffle fries were good and the tea was made well. (Believe it or not, every tea batch can taste different!) I did takeout during the pandemic. It was a Thursday and I really didn't want to cook. (Dine in is not an option, due to the food court being closed indefinitely.) I popped in the mall and was kind of horrified to see none of my fellow patrons were wearing masks? My mind eased a bit as I approached the Chick-fil-A counter. ALL of their employees were wearing masks and following newer, COVID-19 inspired protocols. The staff was prompt and professional. I was in and out with a perfect order. (I mean... the sandwich I requested had no pickles, did indeed have no pickles. The kids meals included the chocolate milks. And most importantly, all the extra sauces I asked for were all included!) I was with a tour group that stopped at the mall food court for an "on-your-own" lunch with several options. Glad I chose Chick-Fil-A and ordered my usual Chicken Deluxe sandwich combo. My mom was pleased with her salad with Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing. The Zesty Apple Cider Vinaigrette is fantastic, too. I got great service, but of coarse it was 11am so they weren't busy. The cashier was very friendly. I ordered the southwest salad with avocado lime dressing. It came with a little pouch of chili lime pepitas and another of tortilla strips. The salad was very flavorful with the right amount of spice. It had a variety of textures thanks to the tortilla strips and pepitas. The only improvement would be it needed more chicken. I would definitely get it again. read more

The classic chicken sandwich and the spicy chicken sandwich are never a bad idea and the honey roasted BBQ sauce is good enough to take in IV form or to bathe in! It's too bad that the place is located in the mall, but it's worth the trip! Accentuated by the friendly staff, the free samples of chicken nuggets and delightful mascot that often visits during the week! There are very few fast food places we go to, the Burger King (I worked there and for some reason still enjoy it) IN-N-OUT BURGER and Chick-Fil-A. For some reason a number 1 meal at chick fil a with a lemonade is one of my favorite lunches ever. If you haven't had a Chick-Fil-A because you think it is the same as KFC or HARDEES then you should feel lucky, because you're about to have your mind blown. This specific store is the only one in the Iowa CIty area, it is 5 star fast food but it's in the mall so parking sucks and you have a lot of shoppers to deal with usually. Wendy and I can get 2 sandwiches and a large drink to share and a large waffle fries, be totally satisfied and it costs $10.01 and is ready 5 minutes after we order. Fast food at it's best. If you like chick-fil-a you will enjoy this one, if you haven't had it, eat it. These guys do fast food better than any other restaurant. 1. Service. I'm always amazed that almost all of their employees are high school students. These people are consistently courteous, professional and eager to please. In terms of customer service these guys are at the top. 2. Food quality. Next to Panera this is definitely the best quality of food you are going to get at the mall food court. 3. Kid friendly. My little boys love their chicken nuggets and french fries. All kids meals come with a free book which can be exchanged for an ice cream cone. A few tweaks I'd make: 1. There is no line demarcation so people mill about like cattle not knowing who is next in line. Even something as simple as tape might help. 2. Peanut oil. I can dig that its a heart-healthy alternative oil to canola, but I have a peanut allergy and as a result I can't enjoy most of their great food. read more
