She couldn't recommend anything to see in the area but suggested Palenque Grill for lunch, which was on our list of possibles. Palenque Grill, located just off I-35, is quite spacious. We were seated immediately and served some warm and crispy tortilla chips with various sauces...loved them all but I preferred the spicy salsa while my wife loved the bean dip. My wife ordered the Pechuga de Pollo ($19) and I tried their Puntas de Filete ($21). My wife was surprised at how flavorful the chicken was, although she thought the veggies were overcooked. I liked the flavor of tender beef tips in that savory sauce. Loved the freshly made flour and corn tortillas. All in all, a good lunch option, albeit perhaps not the best value around. Not your typical Tex-Mex. Service was very attentive and friendly. Lunch for 2 came out to just over $55 with tip.

Finally, I noticed one of the cooks using his bare hands to grab fries while preparing an order. I really hope his hands were washed, because that raised a big concern about food safety. In the end, it was an okay experience, but there are several things that need improvement. The ambiance was nice set of characters like the neon signs and design of the place like the wood accent.
