I'm not from San Antonio, but while I was visiting The Shops at La Cantera close to where the 1604 meets the 10, I noticed there was a Chick-fil-A there! It was close to another shop that I had just visited, and I was sweating buckets! Even after a cold drink at said shop, I was craving another cold drink, and that's what led me to this Chick-fil-A. I opened the app because I wanted to get points added to my account, and wouldn't you know it? There happened to be a reward* for a free 5-count chicken nuggets for all Chick-Fil-A locations in the Greater San Antonio area. At first, I thought my leg was getting pulled being from out of state and all, but nope! It was a legitimate reward. I suppose it was Chick-fil-A San Antonio's way to welcome its customers to summer! I stepped inside and was astonished at how large the interior was. It was so large that the start of the line wasn't that easy to detect since the barriers weren't long enough to contain said line. As a matter of fact, the girl who stood behind me in line had to ask me if I was at the end of the line lol. Case in point, it's a pretty crowded Chick-fil-A, but luckily, they keep the line moving at a steady pace, so you shouldn't have to wait that long. As I came up to redeem my reward, I also said to the cashier that I wanted a frozen coffee on top of the 5-count nuggets. He asked me if I'd like a sauce to go with the nuggets, to which I answered affirmatively. I chose the signature Chick-fil-A sauce. Can't go wrong with a conglomeration of honey mustard, barbecue, and ranch! At a Chick-fil-A location in Long Beach, CA, I was able to redeem a reward for 8-count nuggets, and it took just a couple of minutes before I was handed these nuggets. This time, it took about 3 times as long because of how crowded it was on a Saturday afternoon. I do remember Isabella took the initiative to check on my order, so that was appreciated, but I thought I remembered seeing boxes of nuggets inside a warmer? If so, I'm a little perplexed as to why it took so long to just grab a box of those nuggets, place it in a bag, and hand it to me. Instead, I had to sip on the frozen coffee while trying to stay cool on this hot day. After finishing about half of my frozen coffee, I was then handed my order, but I noticed the box was upside down. Luckily, it was secured well enough so the nuggets didn't fall out inside my bag. If it did, that certainly would have been a disappointment, especially if I had paid the full price of $3.25! Just like the Long Beach, CA location, I noticed the inconsistency in size among these nuggets. 2 were kind of small, 2 were kind of large, and one was medium-sized. At least it averages out to all medium, but I still wish they were more consistent on these nuggs so that no customer would have to worry about getting all the small ones. There is also a counter where you can pick up napkins, plastic utensils, mustard, hot sauce, and even some mints! Don't forget to stop by that counter after you pick up your meal! The nuggets weren't bad. Just average, but much better with the Chick-fil-A sauce. The frozen coffee was also pretty average. I hadn't had a frozen coffee from Dunkin' Donuts in a while, but I can say this Chick-fil-A's frozen coffee wasn't any better. I said it before and I'll say it again: it was just average. Service was good though. The cashier who rang me up was pretty courteous and appreciative of my patronage to the fast food chain that invented the chicken sandwich, but he was a little slow in preparing my frozen coffee. There were plenty of employees running around to serve the customers, however, so it had to have been pretty hectic behind the counter. While I agree this Chick-fil-A isn't the greatest in San Antonio, I don't think it's as bad as the average rating makes it out to be, but given that it's in a prime location, an outdoor mall that sees thousands of customers daily, don't expect the best experience here. You'll probably be better off at a different location instead. * If you are trying to find the reward, it expired 5 days before I posted this review. Havent posted in years but had to on this one. But... WORST CHICK-FIL-A EVER. As we waited almost 20min for our food, witnessed an employee clean a spilled drink on the floor and without even cleaning his hands proceeded to the table, which made us all lose our appetite. My 10yo said, "Who does that?"AND "I hope they dont do that in the back." Spoke with other frustrated customers who said theyve been waiting for about 25min. Finally we got our order and it was wrong. Ordered the 4 strip meal and 12ct nuggets but got 3 & 8ct. Wont be eating here again. This place doest even have a drive thru and wasnt even busy. The food was cold and the fries were hard. My sister and I took a lunch break during our shopping day with our grandma, who uses a wheelchair. Shelby, the cashier who took our order, was incredibly thoughtful and kind. She noticed that my hands were full as I helped my grandma to the table, so she brought our drinks over without even being asked. She even assisted my grandmother as she transferred from her wheelchair to a regular chair--something we truly appreciated. read more

This is by far the worst Chick-fil-a I have been to. Food was ok but the restaurant had trash and food on the floor. The bathroom was a mess as well. Typically at Chick-fil-a, someone is walking around to see if you need anything, collect trash etc. None of that was occurring there, despite what looked like plenty of employees. read more

This place doesn't really deserve a whole stare rating , I work at la Cantera and I love everything about chick-fil-a , but the people that they have there talk too much instead of listening and talking on their phones and laughing with friends they hold up the line . I've been to other chick-fil-a's but this is the worst one of them all . This location had great customer service. The employees were all smiles and quickly handled the line before me. The food was fresh and hot. The only negatives were they don't sell my favorite frosted coffee and that many of the tables were dirty and the floors could use some sweeping. There was a nice gentleman that came around and grabbed our trash when we were done. I recommend their Chic filet One App. I'm always earning free goodies from my points. The past several weeks they've been doing free breakfast items on Mondays on the app. Overall, I would come back to this location and it has great potential. read more

My girlfriend and I were at La Cantera for a quick shopping trip and decided to stop by for a quick bite. We each ordered the chicken strips and got a table to await our order. When the food arrived, we did wonder when we opened our boxes, as there were more pieces (smaller pieces) than was expected. It immediately made us think of chicken nuggets. But an even bigger surprise in my container was what looked like a piece of plastic, (like a thin piece of plastic wrap) that had gone through the frying process. I immediately went up to the counter and asked to see the manager. When he came out I showed him the plastic and he immediately offered to replace the "strips" and give me a refund for them . . . which was the proper thing to do. But I can't help but wonder what kind of problems the plastic might have caused someone had they ingested it. I'm sorry, but we don't digest plastic. Another thing that happened that lowered the score for me was the fact that their closing hour on the door is posted as 9:00 pm, but they locked the double doors at 8:00! I don't know if this is a corporate policy or the decision of the manager on duty, but I would be very curious as to the reasoning. It is not the most welcoming sound. . . the loud "clack" of the lock resounding through the restaurant. Possibly a way to put the thought of "leaving" in the customers' minds? Not to mention how it feels to those who might want to enter the restaurant while there is still an hour left to their operating hours. Now they did leave the "single" door closest to the counter unlocked. I'm sorry, it's not something I understand. Not to mention the safety hazard should something happen in the restaurant and people need to get out. They aren't the kind of doors that can be opened from the inside to exit and locked only from the outside. It would definitely be nice if they could change the door locking but policy, but who knows. Ordered a chicken sandwich and fries and had an up-sell for chocolate chip cookies. I didn't need the cookies, but ended up taking them also. Food came out quick and tasted great. No problems with chicken or fries. It was pretty busy inside with most seats taken so I grabbed a small table for two. Food was delivered with friendliness. I like how this restaurant has a good set up for the lines and clean restrooms. Each table had little pots with small plants. Got a grilled chicken club and the bottom bun had mold on it. I told the employees who gave me a new one but at that point I was too grossed out to eat so I requested a refund. They bombarted me with questions until eventually they gave me a refund for the sandwhich. I ordered several other items but was too disgusted to enjoy them so they went to waste. It's bad enough that my food was moldy and I understand mistakes happen but the employees could've handled it better and done more to resolve the problem. read more

Probably the worst CFA I've been to. Most of the time CFA is pretty consistent with their menu items, so I base my experiences on the level of customer service given and the accuracy of my order. This time both were letdowns. For starters, the guy who took my order was unkempt and unhygienic. He had a bandaid on the top of his ear, which was obviously covering a body piercing- per health code- but, what's the use of a bandaid when it looks black around the edges (like it hadn't been changed in days or weeks)? That's not what I want to see when ordering food, for goodness sakes. When this same guy handed me my drink, the tip of his forefinger had a freshly scabbed over cut staring at me. Against my better judgment- and because I was starving- I ignored it. --Note to the management- all cuts that look like the scab can peel off into a customer's food or drink should be covered with a band aid and gloves-- I always order my fries well done and this visit was no exception. I received my fries and they were pale and seemed to not even be cooked to the normal doneness. I returned them after speaking to the MOD and she brought me out a fresh- larger- order of very well done fries (brown and crisp). The most annoying part of my visit- and also what made me leave before I was even finished with my meal- was that same scabby employee sitting at a table (presumably on his break) listening to trap music loud enough for me to hear the lyrics 5 tables away. I caught the same manager looking over at him (as well as another employee) and no one said a word. There were elderly people, children, and people just trying to enjoy the meals they paid for and this guy's acting like he's at home- and he didn't even have food he was eating. I was beyond annoyed and would've said something, but had he gotten smart we would've defiled the holiness of CFA. After this visit, I'm convinced that this particular Chick-Fil-A is the Judas of the chain. It LOOKS like a good thing, but betrays you in the end. read more
